Ambassador Smith addressing the US Chamber of Commerce
GHANA’S Ambassador to the United States of America (USA), His Excellency Lt. Gen. Joseph Henry Smith (Rtd), has stressed the importance of trade between Ghana and the US saying, “trade between the two countries, remains very important in advancing investment and business linkages between Ghana and the US”. Interacting with members of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce at the Chambers’ office in Washington DC last Friday, October 31, 2014, Ambassador Smith used the occasion to invite the U.S. business community to partner Ghanaian businesses to help accelerate infrastructural development in Ghana. Major areas of cooperation, for which the Ghanaian government is seeking investment to move Ghana into a full-fledged middle income economy, he said, are energy, agriculture, housing, Port expansion, ICT, transportation, road construction, health and oil and Gas. Ambassador Smith said the government of Ghana recognise the private sector as the engine to the country’s economic growth and therefore urged the Chamber to seriously consider investing in Ghana to support the government’s efforts and also share in the strategic initiatives that the country is pursuing. The government, he said is putting more emphasis on the manufacturing sector and increase exports by adding value to Ghanaian made products. On the Economic challenges facing the country, the
Ambassador informed the Chamber that the government of Ghana’s engagement with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) was to help restore stability and confidence in the Ghanaian Economy. He noted that, rebuilding systems, structures and procedures are keys in restoring the economy. The economic challenges, Ambassador Smith said are temporary and would be surmounted to pave way for flourishing business and asked members of the Chamber not to relent in their effort to bring investment to Ghana. He informed them that Ghana’s transformation agenda was premised on the three main pillars of stabilization, restoration and growth of the economy. Touching on the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), Ghana’s Ambassador said he would not only like to see US investment in Ghana but would also like to see the US using Ghana as a hub to penetrate into the West African subregion. Opening the meeting, the Chairman of the Chamber, Mr. Mr. George Kalantzakis, of Hess Corporation, said the Chamber was glad to receive His Excellency J. H .Smith to the US and hope their interaction with the Embassy would yield fruitful results for both the US and Ghana. Information Section Ghana Embassy

Africa Gets First White President In Zambia
Zambia’s President Michael Sata — nicknamed “King Cobra” for his sharp tongue and manner — has died making his vice-president Africa’s first white head of state in decades.
Sata, 77, died while undergoing treatment in London’s private King Edward VII hospital for an unspecified illness, the Zambian government said.
Vice-President Guy Scott, 70, was named interim leader — making him the first white president of an African nation since FW de Klerk ruled apartheid South Africa more than 20 years ago.
Scott, whose parents were from Scotland, is not eligible to stand in the upcoming presidential election — which must be held within the next 90 days — because of a rule in Zambia’s 1996 constitution barring heads of state with foreign parents. “Dr Scott will act as president of the Republic of Zambia until the country goes for a presidential by-election” said Defence Minister Edgar Lungu.
Scott issued a statement confirming his temporary promotion and the 90day period for the elections. He added that national mourning for Sata would begin . “We will miss our beloved president and comrade,” he said, http://news2.onlinenigeria.com

5 African Apps You’ve Probably Never Heard Of

Posted by Emmy J. Hammond
As our contributor Kurt Davis Jr. wrote last week, “the cell phone is ubiquitous in Africa.” Accordingly, the number of African apps in recent years has proliferated. While you may have heard of M-PESA or Ushahidi, here are five innovative African apps that you probably haven’t heard of.

1. Frontline SMS
The idea for Frontline SMS, an open-source software that allows NGOs to communicate with people in areas lacking internet access, first started in 2004 when Ken Banks was working on a conservation effort in South Africa’s Kruger National Park. It was difficult for NGOs to collaborate with locals as it was often impractical to travel great distances. Banks discovered that many locals had mobile phones, yet no way to connect to the internet. Enter Frontline SMS, software that supports text messages from mobile phones and computers without the use of internet. The app has since grown to include Frontline SMS:Credit, Frontline SMS:Learn, Frontline SMS:Legal, Frontline SMS:Medic, and Frontline SMS:Radio. Today, Frontline SMS has been downloaded over 20,000 times and has helped countless organizations improve communication in remote areas.

Founded in Ghana in 2007, mPedigree seeks to protect consumers from the issue of counterfeit pharmaceuticals. Although counterfeit drugs exist in U.S. markets, they are most prevalent in developing countries: a recent study conducted in four African countries revealed that between 26% to 44% of antimalarial drugs did not meet quality standards. mPedigree operates by connecting mobile phones to a registry containing information about the pedigrees of brand pharmaceuticals. Users input a serial number and are then notified via text message of the authenticity of the given product. Reports conducted in Accra and Kumasi revealed that mPedigree was largely successful in identifying counterfeit medicines, and in 2011, mPedigree won the Netexplorateur Grand Prix at UNESCO in Paris.

The World’s Poorest President, But The Reason Why He’s Poor Will Surprise You. November 2014
Page
You might not believe it, but Jose Mujica, president of Uruguay since 2010, is known to be the world’s poorest president. Jose donates more then of 90% of his $12,000 per month salary to benefit the poor and to help small entrepreneurs. If we need more of anything in this world, it would be more people like this! This man doesn’t put value on his appearance or clothes. He is criticized for his posture and clothes, but Jose puts more value on other things in life instead.
Before his presidency, he was a guerilla fighter for Tupamaros, which acted like “Robin hood.” They literally robbed evil banks, gun clubs, and other businesses to give to the poor. He truly believed that his value was not in gaining more money, it was in the wellbeing of his country and people. He was imprisoned 2 times for a total of 14 years and shot 6 times after an escape attempt, But he still continues to fight for the people even in his high office now as president of Uruguay.
Mujica could live in this beautiful Presidential house, but has chosen a more humble place to live. He is a honest example of a president that gives up his own comfort for the wellbeing of others.
And this is where he lives, on a farm with his wife and dog. He is also working to change the fancy presidential house into a museum that pays honor to past presidents. There’s no reason for money, fame, and a nice place to sleep when you can be humble and live on a farm. This president lives the life!
This is where he lives, on a farm with his wife and dog
His part time farming job, keeps him aware of the struggles and life that most other people of his country go though. He also grows and then sells flowers from his farm. You can see him frequently driving his old 1987 Volkswagon Beetle. He doesn’t need a fancy Bentley, because he doesn’t care about having a extravagant appearance. His people are what matters and what matters are his people. Jose’s protection consists of two guards and his 3 legged dog named Manuela.
Even though he is known as the poorest president, he strongly disagrees. He says, “I’m not the poorest president. The poorest is the one who needs a lot to live… My lifestyle is a consequence of my wounds. I’m the son of my history. There have been years when I would have been happy just to have a mattress.” This president’s example is a testament to how we should live our lives. We don’t need more things to be happy. In fact, some of the most wealthy people in the world, have their wealth stored in the currency of unselfishness, kindness, and true love. Maybe its time for a change? The world needs more people like this. Don’t you agree? Source: astoundable.com/worlds-poorest-president/

I
Dr. Miriam C. Gyimah
t is said that writers, particularly poets, produce their best and most profound works after going through a painful and devastating experience or tragedy. I make no such claim today with this article, but it is a painful experience which prompts me to write this piece. Out of pain we grow and out of difficult and heartbreaking episodes we become more experienced, more careful and more philosophical about ourselves, our lives, our coexistence with others and our place and purpose in God’s world. To begin, let me ask: have you ever felt your heart break? I mean really feel it breaking and crumbling inside your chest and the pain is so real, so hurtful you cry, not because you want to, but because the pain forces itself out of you? Or have you ever been injured so terribly that again you feel the implosions in your heart and instead of acknowledging you have been hurt, you turn to anger, your go to defense mechanism, and express your rage and fierce disapproval with fire and brimstone all in display of disastrous proportions? But you are more hurt than angry. I am sure you have found yourself in at least one of these situations. You have felt the injury and succumbed to the tears or even the outrage and surrendered to the anger. Let me tell you about the aftermath of one episode. Hours and even days after, I was still in pain. I could still feel a terrible aching in my heart as it continually tore in pieces and crumbled over and over again. Then I would become angry once again that this person had assaulted me so terribly and what was more painful was that it was completely unwarranted, for I had not inserted myself in her way whatsoever, but somehow, she found it fit to assault me verbally and emotionally in the midst of several others. I relived the offense as it continually asserted itself in my mind’s eye and resound in my ears. There was no doubt I was hurt, for I privately shed tears. I, one who has been described as iron, choked up even days after the episode. And then the anger stirring in me begins to work its way into rage and all I see is that my imagination runs wild depicting me having both hands around

the neck of the offender choking her, stomping on her repeatedly, attempting to snuff the living daylights out of her, all because of the pain she had inflicted upon me. Then suddenly, I literally shake my head, attempting to snap the dark images out of my mind and return to my rightful consciousness, for how could one, how could I, ever entertain such violent and vengeful thoughts? It is completely against decorum and all dignity, but somehow, it felt as if it would be the only appeasement to my injury and more importantly, my fury. I know it sounds a bit dramatic, but if we allow it, our imagination and Satan, the enemy of all righteousness, can lead us to a very dark and foreign path. My mother says “Christ makes the difference.” It is a truth I hold dear, for repeatedly, He has been my salvation in more than one way. As flesh and blood, when we are injured terribly, we often become angry and want to avenge ourselves. However, it isn’t so much that we become angry, but that we choose anger. The fact is that we choose anger and not pain, for anger can empower us; it can justify us, while we believe pain only weakens us and reveals our vulnerability, our victimization, and who wants to be perceived as a victim? Certainly not I. Yet, although anger gives us strength and motivation to defend ourselves and dominate the offender by our own means, and hurt them as much as they have hurt us, it simply isn’t the best choice and to choose and/or yield to anger will not prove our best moments. Would engaging in a shouting match, terribly insulting or stomping the life out of another ever produce our best moments? As a child of God, while you are going through these severe feelings of anger, you begin to hear or feel a prodding advising “be calm”, “be calm”, ” be calm”. It advises to let it go; forgive the offense; remain silent, but sometimes while you know very well it will be better to let it go, your pride and hurt will not allow it. You feel you have to avenge yourself. You have to give in to your anger and allow yourself to vent or even explode, giving that offender pound for pound. But it is for our best moments which we must strive. And it is for our finer moments that we have the benefit of Christ as our example. With all the mal-intended aggravations and conspiracies that Christ faced, He taught us through His life’s work that we must never succumb to or choose anger, but rather pain. Choosing the pain is enduring the hurt without avenging ourselves. For we have a greater purpose ahead of us. After all, that Man of Sorrow bore all our pains and suffering so that we “may have life and have it more abundantly” (John 10:10). The one time that we see Christ angry was in defense of the temple of the Lord. The Bible narrates that, “… the Jews'
Passover was at hand, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem. And found in the temple those that sold oxen and sheep and doves, and the changers of money sitting: And when he had made a scourge of small cords, he drove them all out of the temple, and the sheep, and the oxen; and poured out the changers' money, and overthrew the tables; And said unto them that sold doves, take these things hence; make not my Father's house an house of merchandise” (John 2: 1316). The example of Christ demonstrates that the defense of the word, the Lord, His house, is the sort of anger we should respond to in righteous indignation. It should never be in defense of ourselves, for the Bible has already instructed us to die to the self as Galatians 5:24 states, "and those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires" and the Bible further teaches that even if we should become angry, we should not permit our anger to cause us to sin (Eph. 4:26). Additionally, the Bible warns, “… never avenge yourselves, but leave it to the wrath of God, for it is written, “Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord” (Rom 12:19). So if God has already promised to deal with those who offend us, why do we bother? Time and again, Christ showed that it was best to remain silent when offended, when wrongfully accused and even when stricken, than to retaliate. Retaliation is a result of choosing anger instead of forgiveness. It is a sinful act of satisfying the self instead of obeying the ways of the Lord. By defending ourselves through our anger verbally or physically, we set aside God’s instructions and take matters into our own hands. We depose Him as our Lord and position ourselves as our own maker and god. We also say with our actions that instead of choosing Christ, we choose us. Of course it is painful to be hurt, disrespected, abused or betrayed by another, especially a loved one or someone we trust so deeply or even another that we snobbishly perceive is not our equal in many ways. But that offense serves as a temptation or test to which we must not succumb, but overcome. Christ was a model of restraint. He lived that exemplary life to demonstrate to us that we too can have those same virtues. He repeatedly forgave His offenders while also setting free those who were being persecuted because of their transgression. When falsely accused, He held His tongue. Even when He was painfully enduring the excruciating violence of crucifixion, He agonizingly cried out “Father, forgive them for they do not know what they are doing” (Luke 23:34). Acknowledging the agony inflicted on us, though it might expose our vulnerability, is far more honorable than responding in anger, which will not only cause us to disgrace ourselves, but also fall out of the will of God. So don’t permit the enemy to take your mind, heart and actions to a place of no return. Do not allow anger to get the best of you.

Certainly, do not entertainment any means of vengeance, for these suggestions of anger are all a plot of the enemy to alter the course of your life for the worse. Let’s be reminded that the Bible warns us that we should “be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour” (1st Peter 5: 8). Although it feels so natural and justified, anger is a tool of the enemy and he is ready to use it at minimum to compromise and complicate our lives and at most, to destroy us. Should we permit it to destroy us? If we do, we are giving in to the enemy’s machinations of manipulation. Can we afford that? Our only acceptable recourse is to turn to Christ and His example. The only prescription is to allow His word to heal the hurt and take away the anger, even as we exercise grace to forgive the offender. Instead of responding to an offense with a fit of rage, we should be strong, wise and humble enough to say, “Father, forgive them for they do not know what they are doing”; then we can be sure that we are following the example of Christ and making our best moments.

The Wrong Gift A young man wanted to purchase a gift for his new sweetheart's birthday, and as they had not been dating very long, after careful consideration, he decided a pair of gloves would strike the right note: romantic, but not too personal.
Accompanied by his sweetheart's younger sister, he went to Nordstrom and bought a pair of white gloves.
The sister purchased a pair of panties for herself.During the wrapping, the clerk mixed up the items and the sister got the gloves and the sweetheart got the panties. Without checking the contents, the young man sealed the package and sent it to his sweetheart with the following note: I chose these because I noticed that you are not in the habit of wearing any when we go out in the evening. If it had not been for your sister, I would have chosen the long ones with the buttons, but she wears short ones that are easier to remove.
These are a delicate shade, but the lady I bought them from showed me the pair she had been wearing for the past three weeks and they were hardly soiled. I had her try yours on for me and she looked really smart. I wish I was there to put them on for you the first time, as no doubt other hands will come in contact with them before I have a chance to see you again. When you take them off, remember to blow in them before putting them away as they will naturally be a little damp from wearing. Just think how many times I will kiss them during the coming year. I hope you will wear them for me on Friday night. All my love.
P.S. The latest style is to wear them folded down with a little fur showing."

Holds Their Maiden Super Heat And Fire Inter-Denominational All Night Service - 2nd Edition On Friday December 5th
On November 7th 2014, a new move of revival was introduced to the tri-state area. The Daniel Dedrich Ahia-Armah Ministries (DDA) hosted its first all-believers all night service called The SUPER HEAT AND FIRE INTER-DENOMINATIONAL ALLBELIEVERS ALL-NIGHT. One of the core visions of DDA ministries is to revive the body of Christ through deep seated Prayers and to create an atmosphere for the release of the power of God for miracles, signs and wonders. DDA Ministries was launched on September 28th 2014 by Rev. Dr. Robert Ampiah Kwofie, the General Overseer of Global Revival Ministries and the President of Ampiah Kwofie World Outreach (AKWO). DDA Ministries’ slogan is: Touching the world with Power and the church with Fire!! The Key Scripture of this ministry is Isaiah 61:1-3. The first all night service was held at the Shebah Temple in Woodbridge, VA. People from all walks of life gathered at the premises to seek the face of God. The Super Heat and Fire All night service started with a fiery worship and praise by Minister Yaw backed by the Springs of Melody to usher the people into the presence of God. The worship and praise service was remarkable as people lifted their hands and bowed in honor of the sovereignty of God. Indeed when praise goes up the presence of God comes down. This was evident as the service continued. When Apostle Dr. Daniel Ahia-Armah took over the service, the atmosphere was set for miracles and the demonstration of the power of God as he delivered the word of God on the title “Let the Serpent come out and die” based on Acts 28:1-6. The sermon was very timely and practical in the sense that the atmosphere was set and the people were ready to pray to smoke out every serpent hiding in their lives and tackle the reason behind the pain, various issues and experiences in their lives. The sermon revealed that snakes are venomous and dangerous causing pain, sorrow etc. Sometimes they may hide in family history for a long time. The serpent is a metaphor for the reason behind one’s issues, problems, frustrations, disappointments and retrogression. Serpents hide and become comfortable until heat is generated to make them defenseless and uncomfortable (Mark 4:27-29). However, there are different levels of heat needed to deal with the reason behind one’s pain and this corresponds to the level of prayer generated to produce the required heat needed to deal with the issue at hand. Heat smokes out the serpent and fire destroys it! By the completion of the sermon, the audience was ready and fired up to generate super heat to expose and exterminate any snake that has been hiding for a long time. Apostle Dr. AhiaArmah led the crowd through an intense long prayer. It was a deep seated personal prayer by each individual to deal with various issues in their lives. This was a time that ones’ hands were taught to war and fingers to battle. By the end of the long awaited and much needed prayer time, one could testify that indeed that hand of God had moved in the temple. The next phase of the all night was evidenced with the manifestation of the prophetic and apostolic grace on Apostle Dr. Daniel Ahia-Armah as he ushered the people into deep worship. The worship rose like sweet-smelling incense in the presence of God as prophetic words were released into the lives of many people accompanied with mighty deliverance. There were clear cut prophecies on financial breakthroughs, miraculous birth of babies, uncovering of evil works of darkness and many more. Apostle Dr. Daniel Ahia-Armah who is specially graced of God to produce babies, healings and deliverance was so anointed during this all night exhibiting awesome supernatural manifestations. DDA ministries is an inter-denominational move that will continue to hold all night services on the first Friday of each month. Do you need a baby? Do you need healing? Do you need a clear cut direction from the Lord? Do you need testimonies in your life? Do you need the mighty hand of God to move in your life? If so, do not miss the next all night service on Friday December 5th, 2014 at the Shebah Temple-14348 Jefferson Davis Highway, Woodbridge, VA 22191 at 10pm. God shall meet you at the point of your need. Be there to generate heat, to expose and destroy every work of the enemy in your life.

Regina Askia states that even though her initial duty was to find volunteers to work at the Ebola Center, she had to join the men who had accepted an offer of $200 per hour because none of her other female colleagues were willing to join.
A group of young Ghanaian professionals in the metropolitan area of Washington DC in the United States congregated on Thursday October 30, 2014 to interact and network at Appioo Bar and Grill, a popular Ghanaian restaurant.
The gathering called GH-Mix was the Fall weather edition that was attended by a number of well placed professionals within the Washington DC, Maryland and Virginia areas. There were a number of non-Ghanaians present too.
Regina Askia, former Nollywood actress and beauty queen turned Nurse, has shared on her Facebook page that she will be volunteering at a US Ebola Center as a way to help eradicate the fast-spreading virus.
According to Regina Askia, the nurses who volunteered are currently undergoing Ebola trainings.
She shared on her Facebook page, “My job was looking for Nurses to volunteer for the Ebola center which was moved from our building to another location. My male colleagues said they would do it for 200 dollars per hour, ….C’mon Regina , gotta get on the team…they said. I was not smiling (I am captain of my 3 kid team). Not one female nurse volunteered (lol). We ALL had to demonstrate proper use of PPE equipment and be proficient with the Ebola protocol. I was full of thoughts as I watched the display, hoods, masks, gowns, boots….almost like a nightmare. Home news had it that Nigerians washed their hands, didn’t hug as much, monitored their temps and on the first signs of malaise drank the ORT (oral rehydration therapy) until symptoms passed. Were we once again trying to kill mosquitoes with bazookas? I wasn’t going to wait to find out. In a daze I got with the program to become “an Ebola ready Nurse”. More power to all the nurses on the grind – Goodluck!!” Desola Ade-Unuigbe
At 6:30PM, the event was abuzz with interesting conversations, Ghanaian food and cocktails and majority of attendees already taking advantage of some delicious 'Kelewele', a popular Ghanaian snack made of fried plantains seasoned with spices.
Nana Ama Afari-Dwamwena, hostess of the event was impressed with the calibre or attendants, something which "exceeded my expectations" she said. Common sites at the gathering was of people exchanging business cards, swapping phone numbers and telling each other about what was new with their business and professional agendas.
Yvette Badu-Nimako—a legislative counsel in Washington DC, Anani Kuevey—a human resource specialist with the Internal Revenue Service of the USA, Afua Riverson—an advisor in the office of the Secretary of State's Science and Technology department and Chinedu Enekwe—Executive Director of a technology and information firm called TipHub were a few of the young professionals in attendance.
Kwame Asante Ofori, a graduate of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology in Kumasi Ghana now resident in the Washington DC area is a contractor with the Voice of America English to Africa radio where he works as a producer of radio programing.
Kwame looked excited to have attended the Fall edition of the GHMix and says "this is my first time and I am happy to see and meet a lot of young and exciting professionals who are doing great in their respective pursuits and building up such a great community within the Diaspora".
Organizers of the event are looking to make it a more frequent occurrence based off the success of the October 2014 edition and will soon be announcing details of what the 2015 gatherings will comprise of.

Rev. David Gyawu the resident Pastor in Virginia recounted how he stepped down from leadership in a local church and answered a call from God to establish a branch of All Nations Church in Virginia. Rev. Gyawu recalled his first encounter with Rev. Dr. Ofosu Appiah many years ago in Ghana and followed his work until he was led to approach him for permission to establish a branch of his ministry in Virginia. He also reviewed the activities of the Church in the last two years and expressed his appreciation to his wife Nana Yaa and the rest of the congregation for their perseverance and patience until the Lord finally blessed them with a permanent place of worship at 4934 B Eisenhower Avenue in Alexandria , Virginia. He quoted Isaac Newton “ I have seen further by standing on the shoulders of giants “
The ceremony continued on Saturday November 1st with a leadership and relationship seminar which provided a forum for Pastors, ministers, church and business leaders to sharpen their leadership skills, mentor, network, and build meaningful Connections with Other leaders.
The three day event was climaxed with the inauguration service and ordination of Rev. David Gyawu on Sunday November 2nd.
In attendance were a host of ministers and members from the various branches of the All Nations Church and Living Springs Ministries Worldwide.
The Judah praise singers treated the congregation to a number of songs after which Minister Kamah Thoronkah swept the congregation on their feet with a song from her latest album titled ‘My testimony”.
Rev. Joe Asmah, who pastors the New Jersey branch and MC of the day’s event could not be left out as he also treated the congregation to a number

of songs. Before the main speaker was introduced Mrs. Mary Ofosu Appiah used the opportunity to welcome and appreciate all the guests who had travelled to be part of the service and encouraged everyone to make the best of out of the event. Dr. Frank Ofosu-Appiah, delivered the sermon for the Inauguration which was titled “ The call of God”. From the book of Jonah 1:1, he likened the story of Jonah to a story of redemption where humanity has a tendency to run away from God rather than Obeying Him.
countless churches, leaders and individuals. His ministry crosses boundaries
He said people run away from God for various reasons including fear and past mistakes. However the past does not matter but the future. In his words “The vessel may be imperfect but the call is always perfect “ . He charged that if people run away from God they forfeit his presence. He also urged the congregation to use their various talents to serve in the house of God. “ God calls us to salvation and sets us up for sanctification”
A host of Ministers laying hands on Rev. Gyawu
He said “Jesus came to build a bridge between humanity and God. “ He emphasized that God has a plan for everybody’s life and that he created us for a relationship with him because even before humanity was born he knew him with a quote from Jeremiah 1 and 5. “ God has called us to salvation and everyone has a call in the service of God.”
He concluded his message by affirming that “it is not how you die but who you die in “
After his message Rev. Dr. Frank Ofosu –Appiah Ordained Rev. David Gyawu with all the privileges thereto as a minister of the Gospel under the umbrella of All Nations Churches Worldwide with a charge to diligently work for the Kingdom of God. He is also the General Overseer of the Living Springs International Churches where he has apostolic oversight over several churches and organizations across the world. Africa may be full of democratically governed countries, but it is still the land of many kings. Sure, there are only three African countries with constitutional monarchies – Morocco, Swaziland and Lesotho — but there are several hundred traditional monarchs dispersed across Africa in urban, semiurban and rural communities in independent countries. Mostly, these monarchs wield little or no formal political power, but they fulfill spiritual and ceremonial obligations to members of their community. Being a traditional monarch in Africa can be a lucrative affair. A significant number of these rulers are formally recognized by state institutions and as a consequence, many of them receive generous stipends and allowances from the government. For example, King Goodwill Zwelithini kaBhekuzulu, the traditional King of the Zulu people, South Africa’s largest ethnic tribe, receives an annual allowance of about $6 million to cater to the needs of his royal household. He also gets to enjoy other perks like frequent private air travel and keeps an exotic collection of automobiles, all paid for by South Africa’s taxpayers. Many African monarchs also earn a significant income through the goodwill and generosity of their communities. It is not uncommon for wealthy members of a tribe or community to give substantial sums of money, cars, land or houses to their traditional Kings in return for spiritual blessings or unrelated favors. And since these traditional monarchs may wield significant influence in political circles, some of them get invited join boards of large corporations. Obi Nnaemeka Achebe, the Obi (King) of Onitsha, a mid-sized commercial town in Nigeria’s southeastern region, serves as the Non-Executive Chairman of Unilever Nigeria, a large publicly-listed manufacturer of consumer goods, and he previously served as Chairman of Diamond Bank, a leading Nigerian commercial bank. Oba Adedotun Gbadebo, who is the Alake (King) of Egbaland, a clan of Yorubaspeaking people in Nigeria, is the Chairman of Oando, a large Nigerian energy company. Some of these rulers control large fortunes. Some have built their fortunes from scratch by starting successful enterprises and shrewdly reinvesting their profits into a diverse range of business concerns. Others have simply had wealth transferred to them by their forefathers. Who are the wealthiest Kings in Africa? I spent quite a bit of time trying to find out. In doing the research for this list, I excluded wealth held or controlled by rulers in trust for their nation or territory. Meet the 5 richest Kings in Africa.
The 5 Richest Kings In Africa
King Mohammed VI
King Mohammed VI, Morocco
Estimated net worth: $2 billion Source: Investments
His Majesty King Mohammed VI of Morocco is the wealthiest monarch in Africa. He derives his fortune from his control of Société Nationale d’Investissement (SNI), a large Moroccan investment holding company with assets valued at more than $10 billion. SNI’s largest asset is a 48% stake in Morocco’s largest bank, Attijariwafa, as well as controlling stakes in mass distribution giant Marjane Holding; mining company Managem Group and mobile telecoms company Inwi. The King also owns a substantial chunk of the world’s phosphate reserves. King Mohammed VI, the 27th king of the Alaouite dynasty, ascended the throne in July 1999 and immediately set out to initiate a series of socio-political and economic reforms that have made the Kingdom freer and more prosperous than during the reign of his father, King Hassan II. In 2014, the King introduced a new family law giving women legal equality with men in key areas; his economic strategy has led to the creation of new industrial zones which in turn has given a boost to the number of global industrial corporations setting up shop in Morocco. On the political front, he has enacted a series of reforms to the country’s constitution, including amendments that stripped him of some of his political powers.
Oba Obateru Akinrutan, Ugbo Land,
Nigeria
Estimated net worth: $300 million
Source: Oil
Oba Obateru Akinrutan is the Olugbo (traditional King) of Ugbo land, a small oil-rich community in Ondo state, in Nigeria’s southwestern region. Oba Akinrutan, who ascended the throne in 2009, is also the founder of Obat Oil, one of Nigeria’s largest privately-held oil trading companies. He founded the company in 1981 with a single gas station to meet the needs of his family and neighboring community. OBAT Oil now owns more than 50 gas stations across Nigeria as well as one of the largest tank farms in Africa- a modern storage facility that has the capacity to store 65 million liters of petroleum products. He also owns an extensive portfolio of prime commercial and residential real estate in London and Nigeria, including the landmark Febson Hotels and Mall in the Central Business District of Abuja.

Don’t Put The Blame On Your Desserts
Valerie Agyeman, Dietetics Student
Have you ever taken a bite from that 3 layer chocolate cake, and thought to yourself “oh my, I probably shouldn’t be eating this, I’m going to gain weight”. The majority of the time, we consume our favorite dessert and then find ourselves in a guilt trap. Most people enjoy a delicious dessert at the end of the day. What better way to treat yourself, right? However, desserts have developed this horrible reputation over past decades. Many people believe that desserts are good for nothing, and cause weight gain. According to a recent study that was completed at Wolfson University Medical Center, researchers found that obese adults who were interested in weight loss were able to reduce their weight and their cravings when they consumed a high carbohydrate breakfast, protein, and dessert. There are many benefits from incorporating desserts into your diet regularly. Don’t put the blame on desserts! What is really causing all that weight gain is your overall diet along with many other factors such as lifestyle, exercise habits, some medications, and more.
As the holidays are quickly approaching, consider purchasing or preparing a nutritious dessert. Desserts can be made with fruits, vegetables, nuts, and whole grains. Not only can desserts satisfy cravings, they can provide the essential nutrients that your body needs. For instance, a strawberry banana fruit tart is a very popular nutritious desert. The strawberries and bananas together, provide your body with antioxidants, vitamin C, potassium, and vitamin B6 which protects the skin, helps with poor eye sight, reduces your risk of stroke, hypertension, helps with electrolyte balance and more. It is always better to indulge in desserts that are nutrient dense. Here are some examples of desserts that are nutrient dense: • Oatmeal raisin cookies-cake: high in fiber, B vitamins, calcium, and iron: helps with bowel movements, healthy bones, protect immune system, body metabolism, helps with fatigue.
• Blueberry pie: high in antioxidants, and fiber: helps with bowel movements, lowers cholesterol, and protects skin. • Cheesecakes: provide high amounts of protein, calcium, and vitamin D: dental health, bone health, brain function, cancer prevention, replenishes muscle, healthy skin. • Pumpkin pie: high in fiber, vitamin A, and vitamin C: helps with bowel movements, infection fighter, skin protector. • Dark Chocolate: high in antioxidants, blood sugar management: skin protector, lowers risks of certain diseases, controls glucose levels.
The next time you reach out for that favorite dessert of yours, do not feel too guilty. Remember that you can eat anything and everything, in moderation of course. Usually, food cravings arise to satisfy emotional needs such as stress and anxiety. Carbohydrates such as starchy foods boost our levels of hormone serotonin, which has a calming effect. Researchers have found that the combination of fat and sugar may also have a calming effect. When cravings occur, it is very unlikely that we are thinking about the chemistry that comes into play, but the least we can do is have a bit of self control. Take control of your dessert; don’t let your dessert take control over you.
Try a nutritious dessert this Thanksgiving: Chocolate Covered Banana Pops Recipe by Ellie Kreiger
Ingredients (Serves 8) • 4 medium ripe but firm bananas • 8 wooden craft sticks • 3 tablespoons finely chopped lightly salted peanuts • 6 ounces good quality dark chocolate (60 to 70 percent cocoa solids), chopped Directions Peel, then cut each banana in half crosswise and insert a craft stick into each half. Place on a tray, cover with plastic wrap and place in the freezer until frozen, about 3 hours. Place the peanuts in a shallow dish or on a plate. Melt the chocolate in the top of a double boiler over slightly simmering water, over the lowest possible heat, stirring frequently. Make sure the water is not touching the bottom of the top pan. Pour the melted chocolate into a tall glass. Dip each frozen banana into the chocolate, turning it to coat, and immediately roll in the peanuts. Place on a tray covered in waxed paper. Serve immediately or wrap individually in plastic wrap or waxed paper and freeze for up to 2 weeks.

SIMPLE STEPS TO MAKE HOME OWNERSHIP A REALITY November 2014
Anita A. Bediako- REALTOR® –Licensed in the Common Wealth of Virginia Prince William County-Local Expert CONTACT 571-229-6694; Email: abediako@pwrealty.com
Dear Reader, It is heartfelt joy I ink this piece of real estate literature to you. Over the year, I have had people asked me questions about how to get back into the market after foreclosure or short sale. Indeed, the last few years have created a volatile market condition and a great concern for home owners and individuals interested in pursuing real estate investment. I share your concerns, the frustrations and empathize with you for losing your hard earned money/ down payment and losing your home and entire real estate investment (s). The good news is that things have changed since you left the market due to foreclosure or short sale or whatever the reason was that made you lose your home. Though the government has tightened the lending rules to eliminate predatory lenders who prey on consumers, it is NOT DIFFICULT to secure a loan to purchase a real estate property. I hope that this information will be useful to your search to venture back to the real estate market. Now, is the best time to definitely get back into the market with record low interest rate and reasonable pricing of houses. Here are your options to get back to buying a home again: FHA’s Back to Work Program: FHA is willing to back loans for borrowers with as little as 3.50% down payment one year after having had a short sale, bankruptcy, or foreclosure. Eligibility require proof of Economic Event which is beyond your control that resulted in a Loss of Employment, Loss of Income or a combination of both, which causes a reduction in the your Household Income of 20% or more for a period of at least 6 months. Note: If you did a prior short sale or were delinquent on a prior FHA loan, you will not be able to buy after one year with this program using an FHA loan. Rather, you will have to wait the standard 3 years after a short sale was completed to apply for a mortgage and 2 years for a chapter 7 bankruptcy and after 1 year on a chapter 13 with court’s pre-approval.
FHA loan one year after a short sale with 3.5% down payment with NO LATE PAYMENTS prior to short sale: eligibility requirements include documentation of hardship condition, NOT late r mortgage payments at the time of the short sale, proceeds from the short sale served as payment in flu for the loan, you have a clear CAIVRS report (Credit Alert Verification Reporting System), and you have an M1 mortgage credit rating for that previous account.
Page
32
VA Loan TWO years after a short sale with Zero Down payment: You can buy a house after a short sale with a 2 year waiting period from a major derogatory event including short sale, bankruptcy, or foreclosure. Buying a House with a VA Loan ONE year or less after a short sale with Zero Down payment: If your former loan on the home you short sold was either a VA loan or a non- VA loan, your wait time may be less than 2 years if you have a clear CAIVRS AND HARDSHIP DOCUMENTATION. CAIVRS is a report pulled by lenders for government loans (FHA, VA USDA) to verify that the borrower does not currently owe money to the government for previous mortgage, student loans, liens, etc. and documentation detailing the circumstance of the short sale.
Buying a house in 2014 after your short sale in 2010, 2011 or earlier years: Those who have completed a short sale in 2009, 2010, 2011, and earlier years are most likely ready to apply for a loan after a 3 year waiting period has passed from the date of the short sale. You may now be able to buy a home again in 2014 and apply for a loan without consideration of any special circumstances.
Buying a house in 2014 after short sale in 2013 with extenuating circumstances: Your wait time to buy a house and qualify for a mortgage after a short sale in 2013 could only be 12 months to 24 months if you can prove that you have extenuating circumstances that led to your short sale. For example, extenuating circumstances are major illness or death of a wage earner, nonrecurring situations that leads to a sudden, significant, and prolonged reduction in income or catastrophic increase in your mortgage payments and other financial obligations. Note that divorce or a job relocation are not typically viewed by lenders as sufficient extenuating circumstances. Buying a House with a Conventional Loan after a short sale: You may be able to buy a house 2 years after a short sale with 10% down payment if you can document and verify acceptable extenuating circumstances prior to your short sale. It is even better if you have 20% down payment which helps to avoid expensive mortgage insurance on loans with less than 20% down payment. Some lenders give you the flexibility of coming up with the 20% down payment using a combination of pledged personal assets. With Fannie/Freddie Loans, you will have to wait 4 years if you only have 10% down payment or possibly wait just 2 years if you have extenuating circumstances that lead to the short sale of your home. As of August 16, 2014 Fannie Mae Desktop Underwriter (DU) has amended the underwriting guideline. They will no longer treat a mortgage included in a short sale that is reporting as a 9, “Charge Off”, on the credit report as foreclosure. The wait time on a short sale apply. However, 20% down payment is needed for 2 years, 10% down payment for 4 years and 5% down payment for 7 years. I hope you have enjoyed this piece and realized that there is still light at the end of the tunnel if you did experience a foreclosure or short sale. I also hope this has been a useful resource to you. If you need assistance with making your home ownership a reality, call me at 571-229-6694 or email me at ABEDIAKO@PWREALTY.COMand I will help you get started. Thank you.
14 Facts About The Obama Presidency That Most People Don’t Know Novemberr 2014
People have many perceptions of how the US economy or the country as a whole is doing in recent years. Depending on your political views, you may think the country is doing exceptionally well or on the verge of collapse.
Listed below are 14 objective facts, without interjecting any opinion, about the state of America under the leadership of President Obama. Every statement is followed up with a link to a source where you can verify these facts for yourself.
1. We've now had 63 straight months of economic expansion.
That’s right, for 63 consecutive months the US economy has gotten progressively better. That includes 54 consecutive months of private sector job growth. Forbes magazine, no fan of President Obama, crunched the numbers and demonstrated how the economic recovery under President Obama has been better in just about every measurable way than the recovery under President Reagan.
2. We are currently enjoying the longest period of private sector job creation in American history.
Eisenhower.
7. For 95% of American taxpayers, income taxes are lower now than just about any time in the previous 50 years.
After President Obama took office, thousands of Tea Party members all over the country held rallies protesting Obama’s tax increases. At that time, President Obama had actually passed several tax cuts to stimulate the economy. Most of the Tea Partiers who were protesting had only seen their taxes decrease under Obama. Yet polls indicated that most Tea Party members wrongly believed their taxes had gone up.
In fact, the only people whose income taxes have gone up during Obama’s presidency are those making $400,000 per year or more. That's less than 2% of the population. Today, for the vast majority of people, tax rates are exactly where they were when Obama first took office or lower. The article below from the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities explains this in greater detail.
Again, this statistic comes from the Forbes Magazine article listed above. In fact, we have now had 54 straight months of private sec- 8. Our dependence on foreign oil has shrunk due to tor job creation. That is the longest period of job creation since the record domestic oil production and improved fuel efficiency standards. Department of Labor has been keeping statistics. See the link below. While some people claim that oil production has declined under President Obama, the truth is just the opposite. Oil 3. Unemployment has dropped from 10.1% in October of production has reached record highs. The United States 2009 to 5.9% and projected to reach 5.4% by summer of now produces so much oil that we export more oil and 2015. gasoline than we import. Not only has the unemployment rate dropped significantly, but since the recession ended, our economy as added over ten million new jobs. You can refer to the Forbes article above or check this article on PoliticsUSA.
4. The stock market continues to set new records since President Obama has been in office.
9. At least 7 million more Americans now have health insurance than before.
Depending on whose numbers you use, between 7 and 10 million Americans acquired health insurance due to the Affordable Care Act. Now that those 7 to 10 million Americans have insurance, the rest of us are no longer on the hook to pay for their health care when they get sick. This saves the American people billions of dollars in the long run.
Since early 2009 there has been a steady trend in stock market growth. The Dow Jones Industrial averages reached an all-time high of 17,098 in August, 2014. Since most Americans have 401K retirement investments in the stock market, this stock market growth bene- 10. 5. The Federal budget deficit is shrinking. It’s been reduced The Medicare trust fund had been on course to run out of money by the end of 2016. But due to cost savings from by two-thirds since 2009.
The $1.4 trillion federal budget deficit that Obama inherited in 2009 was in a large part due to the high rate of unemployment. When millions of people were put out of work in 2008 and 2009, it resulted in far less income taxes and less economic activity to generate federal revenue. As ten million people have been put back to work, there have been billions more tax dollars generated. As a result, the deficit has been shrinking each year. The 2014 deficit is projected to be around $500 billion, the smallest deficit since 2007 and roughly 1/3 of what it was in 2009.
6. Under President Obama, spending has increased only 1.4% annually, the lowest rate since Eisenhower was president.
the Affordable Care Act and lower healthcare expenses, Medicare’s trust fund is now stable until the year 2030 without cutting benefits.
11. Since passage of the Affordable Care Act, we are seeing the slowest rate of increase in healthcare costs since 1960.
Contrary to the predictions from Republicans, health care costs have increased at a much slower pace since the passage of the ACA.
12. We currently have fewer soldiers, sailors and airmen in war zones than any time in over 10 years.
With the end of the Iraq war and the steady withdrawal of You may have heard critics say that President Obama is spending troops from Afghanistan, we have fewer people in war money wildly and running up our debt. According to this article from zones now than any time since 2002. Forbes, Obama has increased spending by 1.4% annually, far less than President Reagan (8.7%) or George W. Bush (8.1%). In fact, Obama has increased spending less than any president since

13. There have been zero successful attacks by al Qaeda on US soil since Obama became president.
Despite Dick Cheney’s claim that if voters elect a Democrat as president, we’ll be “hit again and hit hard” by al Qaeda, we have actually been far safer from terrorist attacks on US soil in recent years than we were under the previous president. There have been several unsuccessful attacks against the US under both presidents, but under Obama, al Qaeda has been largely unsuccessful in striking the US on our home soil.
14. We now successfully catch and deport more illegal immigrants than ever before.
Despite the publicity from busloads of children who illegally entered the country, the numbers prove that President Obama has deported more illegal immigrants than any other president.
All of the facts stated above can be confirmed through multiple sources, yet most Americans are not aware of all of this positive news. I invite you to do your own research and check these facts for yourself.
Since Obama became president, our economy has gone from losing 800,000 jobs per month to adding 200,000 jobs per month. That’s a net improvement under Obama of about 1 million jobs per month! Before Obama became president, our financial system was in ruins and millions of people were at risk of losing their life savings. Now, the financial loopholes have been fixed and we are no longer at risk of another financial collapse.
In 5 years under Obama the economy has created twice as many jobs as were created in 8 years under George W. Bush. President Obama passed credit card reforms that protects consumers from excessive fees, rate hikes, deceptive marketing and unreasonable due dates. Thanks to “Obamacare”, senior citizens have saved billions of dollars on prescription drugs. The Affordable Care Act requires insurance companies to spend at least 80% of your premiums on health care. As a result millions of Americans have received refunds from their health insurance companies. Despite the unprecedented obstructionism and record number of filibusters used by Republicans to kill even the most routine legislation, the fact remains, in almost every measurable way, the American people are profoundly better off today than they were before President Obama took office.

Basic Principles Of Bible Interpretation - 4 The Principle of Grammar
Rev George K. Annan Ph.D.
We need a literary study of the scriptures because there is no magical meaning to scriptures. Before nations were born in Genesis 11, earliest form of Woodblock printing dating back to Roman Egypt in the fourth century and dictionary was developed God accommodated himself to man’s understanding and dictionary meaning of the word TESTAMENT which have had the same meaning since the beginning of time. In the Bible a noun is a noun, a verb is a verb and figure of speech is a figure of speech 2 Peter 1:20, Knowing this first that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation To study the grammar, we must look at the sentence, the prepositions, pronouns, verbs, nouns, and phrases, dependent clauses and the subordinate phrases? We must study how the words relate to each other in the sentences and in the paragraphs in order to study carefully. The careful interpreter will observe "little things!" Example 1: In Matt. 28:19-20, for example,
we have the Great Commission—"Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them... 'teaching them to observe all that I commanded you... “(The New American Standard Bible). As you first read it, "Go" sounds like a verb; "make disciples..., baptizing... teaching" all sound like verbs. But as you study the sentence, you find there's only one verb, matheteusate, "make disciples." "Go" is nothing more than a participle. "Baptizing," is a participle, and "teaching," is a participle, which means they modify the main verb. What the Great Commission says is, "Make disciples," and "teach." When you understand that, the fullness of that concept comes out of the text. Example 2: The scripture says in Matthew 3:16 that the Spirit of God descended on Jesus ‘like’ a dove after he was baptized by John. The passage does not suggest that the Holy Spirit is a dove. The word ‘Like’ is a simile which makes reference to semblance or characteristics. What it means is that the dove possesses character attributes that can be found in the Holy Spirit. So doing a comprehensive study on the characteristic of the dove will let us have a better understanding of the character, functions and operations of the Holy Spirit. Attributes which are to be seen in the life of everyone baptized in the Holy Spirit. Remember there are no magical meanings to scripture. Al Smith By Oral Ofori
Al Smith, a former federal contractor with the US Department of Justice and a Liberian immigrant has commended US President Barack Obama for the efforts made towards curbing the spread of the deadly Ebola virus in Liberia and other affected west African countries.
The US based Security Consultant, who has also worked for the US Department of Defense and the White House Visitors' Center as a federal contractor says he is really impressed by the level of medical, professional and logistical support given Ebola affected countries by the American government and people. He feels positive affected countries like Mali, Guinea and Sierra Leone can eventually win the fight against the disease.
In a chat with this writer in Washington DC at his former work place of the White House Visitors' Center on Veterans day, Al Smith disclosed he last visited Liberia in July of 2014 where he noticed that even though the country has been calm after the civil wars of 1989-1996 and 1999-2003 respectively, post-war clouds still loomed over it. “People there are still recovering almost a decade after the wars ended so it is very heartbreaking to see what Ebola is doing in Liberia” he says.
According to Al Smith, “it is up to us as individuals to put a lot more effort into spreading awareness and living very hygienic lifestyles because Ebola is very preventable and thankfully not air borne”.
Al Smith is educated at Corinthian Colleges which include Everest College and Everest University. He holds a degree in Criminal Justice & Homeland Security and is a beneficiary of several trainings from the US Department of Criminal Justice Services and Metropolitan training Academy in keeping with the standard training requirement by the Department of Homeland Security.
In a related development, Bill Rogers, a Liberian athlete based in Texas, USA, who is also a humanitarian and founder of the Bill Rogers Youth Foundation lamented the extreme pressures
Bill Rogers Ebola is placing on the already weakened Liberian health systems. The athelete plans to be “focusing my energies now into helping my people recover from the stress, trauma, stigma and stereotyping caused by Ebola through my relief efforts and counseling”.
Bill Rogers is working through his foundation to establish solid rehabilitation for Ebola survivors and their families. He was full of praises for Cuba, China and other nations currently providing support and personnel in west Africa to combat the disease.
There are and have always been bigger issues in these Ebola hit west African nations says Rogers, which is why it is sad that it has taken this disease to bring to light problems like poor infrastructure, poverty, government mismanagement, corruption and greed.
In November 2014, the World Health Organization (WHO) and governments of respective countries placed at 13,592 the number of suspected cases with 5,408 deaths recorded as a result of the 2014 Ebola outbreak. WHO has warned that there could be as many as 10,000 new Ebola cases per week by December 2014.
Both men encouraged Liberians and people worldwide to continue doing their part in supporting ongoing efforts to defeat the deadly disease to avoid the scary predictions of the from WHO becoming reality.
Oral Ofori of #TheAfricanDream
In the Fall of 1998, about 20 men and women, most of whom had charismatic Baptist backgrounds, begun holding weekly meeting in Upper Marlboro, MD to pray and to study the Word of God. As they continued to meet, they felt a sense of closeness, togetherness and unconditional love as they had never felt before. They individually had a relationship with God, but lacked a relationship of unconditional love with one another. God begun to draw other people experiencing the same void in their lives to this group. Eventually, the name Agape Life Ministries, Inc. (“Agape”) was born as a ministry because of the unconditional love that these men and women had for each other. On Sunday, October 18, 1998 this new church had its first service at the Holiday Inn located at 10000 Baltimore Venue, College Park with 121 adults and 57 children. Today, both our adult and children services number close to 400 members. On July 3, 2011 Agape dedicated its present Sanctuary. Last year, Agape acquired the two (2) adjoining units to which they intend to use as the “Agape Life Community Development Center”. Early this year, they have paid off the church’s five (5) acre plot of land located on Route 198 and the BWI Parkway Exit here in Laurel. This year, the ministry started two services, the 8:00am to 10:00am morning service and the afternoon service at 11:00am which the numbers keep increasing each week. As a cell-based church, the ministry started as one cell group 16 years ago. Today, we have twenty-one (21) adult cell groups, namely, Abundant Grace Cell, Anointed Cell, El-Gibhor Cell, Favor of God Cell, Forgiven Cell, Grace Cell, Jessup Cell, Joshua Cell, Odenton Cell, Rehoboth Cell, Renewed Cell, Resurrection Cell, Rhema Cell, Savage Cell, Severn Cell, Shalom Cell, Shiloh Cell, Solid Rock Cell, Victory Cell, Virginia Cell and Zoe Cell Group.
Last year, this ministry started a bible school in which students are about to start their third trimester course. Agape has “adopted” five (5) elementary schools (we started with one (1)) in Laurel, Baltimore City and the District of Columbia in its “Back to School”program by buying school supplies for the less privileged during the beginning of the academic year. Each year, we hold our new membership class called “Boot Camp” and last year, the Agape youth came together to form a youth ministry called “Revive”. The goal is to pray for the youth of this ministry and outside this ministry, reach out their hands to the lost and rescue them from perishing. Over the years, Agape has participated in Food Pantry and food preparation for the homeless in Maryland and the District of Columbia.
On this anniversary day, the ministry has culminated what the Lord begun 16 years ago, with the licensing of four members as ministers, namely, Julia Addae-Mintah, Ama Sarkodie, Johnson Abledu and Kwame Adofo; the re-ordination of a Pastor, namely Charles Acquah and the ordination of three members as Elders, namely, Gloria OforiDankyi, Eugene Amoako and Ericson Atuobi. The celebration ended with a luncheon provided by the ministry to all members and their guests.

The Organising Committee of the Orange Africa Cup of Nations will later apply the statutory provisions that are required due to a breach of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation regulatory and contractual provisions, including those set out in the Host Association Agreement signed between CAF and the Royal Moroccan Football Federation in April 2014.
The Executive Committee took note of receipt by 10 November, 2014 of some applications of national associations confirming their desire to host the 2015 competition on the dates agreed. These applications are currently under review, and the Executive Committee will finalize the selection of the successful National Association shortly and confirm the place and date of the draw of the final tournament at the same time.
The Executive Committee confirms the continuation of qualifiers match-days 5 & 6, which will be held during the month (14/15 November and 19 November), paving the way for the qualification of the 15 teams that will be joining the team of the host country.
Accordingly, and following the refusal of the Moroccan party, the Executive Committee has decided that the national team of Morocco is automatically disqualified and will not take part in the 30th edition of the Orange Africa Cup of Nations in 2015.

A pastor who allegedly hired a woman to pose as a cripple and ‘healed’ her during a church service has been arrested by the Odorkor Police.
The suspect, Jonas Abedi, 35, is being held together with the woman, Helena Donkor, 40, and three others. The others are Enoch Mortey, 29, who posed as a pastor; Divine Kwadwo Columbus, 36, a self-acclaimed prophet, and Christiana Quainoo, 36, who posed as a sister of the cripple who had brought her to the church for healing. Abedi was said to have performed the ‘miracle’ at a church he was visiting for a two-day programme. Facebook contact The Odorkor District Police Commander, Superintendent of Police Mr Abraham Acquaye, told the Daily Graphic that the incident happened on Tuesday, November 11, 2014. He said Abedi had been invited by the Founder of Power Explosion Chapel at Tantra Hills in Accra, Rev Ewurama Annan, after the two had established contact through Facebook, a social media platform. He said Abedi, who claimed to be a Ghanaian pastor based in New York in the United States of America (USA), and Rev Annan had been communicating through Facebook for a while. “In one of their chats, Abedi told Rev Annan that he had been invited by a church in South Africa for a programme and was scheduled to visit Ghana for another programme with a church in Kumasi, after which he would want to pay her a visit,” Mr Acquaye said. He said Rev Annan informed Abedi that her church had been holding services on Sundays and Tuesdays and wanted him to be the guest speaker on November 11. About two weeks later, Rev Annan received a phone call from Abedi that he had arrived in Ghana and was done with the Kumasi-based church. Instant healing Mr Acquaye said Power Explosion Chapel hosted Abedi and his two pastor friends in a hotel for the programme, which was held on Sunday, November 9 and Tuesday, November 11, 2014. “During the service on Tuesday, Abedi asked the congregation if there was any sick person in the church and Quainoo responded that she had brought her crippled sister,” he said. The pastor, Mr Acquaye said, led the congregation to pray for the sick woman who had come to the church with crutches and was unable to stand on her legs. After the church had prayed, the police commander said, the pastor asked her to walk, and instantly the woman was able to walk and even jumped without the crutches and support of her sister. Other miracles Earlier, the commander said, Abedi had called a young man from the congregation and told him that he was involved in the use of charms to seduce older women and that he was in the church because of a woman. “To prove a point, Abedi said the young man was carrying the charm and a condom in his pocket and asked him to bring them out. The man brought out a substance and a condom,” he said. Another man was also said to have been called to the front of the congregation, after which Abedi mentioned the name and the telephone number of the man and revealed other personal details, to the surprise of the congregation. The arrest However, Mr Acquaye said, the founder of the church told the police that she became suspicious after the service, since all the people Abedi ministered to were not members of her church. She, therefore, detailed some elders of the church to monitor those people and Abedi. At the end of the service, the woman who had been healed carried her crutches and put them behind a waiting four-wheel drivevehicle at a filling station near the church where she waited with her supposed sister. The other two men also joined them, while the church elders monitored and saw them making phone calls. Shortly after, a man walked to them and gave them money, which the elders suspected to be payment for their services. With the help of the Odorkor District Police night patrol team, the elders managed to apprehend the two women, while the two men bolted. The pastor and his two friends were later arrested at their hotel. Mr Acquaye said on interrogation, Helena and Christiana confessed that they had been contracted by a lady who gave them the crutches and asked them to put up the charade for a fee of GH¢50 each.
