This is the story of successful entrepreneur Chioma Agha, CEO of Swish Ideas. Chioma shared her journey as an entrepreneur at the maiden edition of Kaymu’s quarterly event tagged Entrepreneurs’ Club , regaling how she rose from starting her business from home to meeting President Barack Obama. Like every new business owner she went from using her house as a warehouse, piling every available space with souvenirs for her store Swish Ideas. “There were the nights I’d cry and think of calling everything quits. But of course no one knew that. No one fully knows the challenges entrepreneurs face except fellow entrepreneurs. But I kept at my business bearing in mind my dream for my company. I was hungry to succeed and took advantage of every opportunity out there including e-commerce. I started from selling on Kaymu to owning my own online platform.
Customers will call me requesting instructions on how to operate a product and I’d tell them to hold on while I spoke to my technical team. Not knowing that I was the technical team, the accountant, the customer service…I was running everything on my own. I’d run down to where the product is and test it after which I would call them back with instructions on how to use it.

Meet the First African American Woman to Hold a Patent for a Natural Hair Product
about the timeliness of it all with such a large lens being on cultural appropriation right now, and others stealing what we create. I’ve been getting calls and emails from people saying “I had no clue you could get a patent on natural hair products!” Of course it’s deeper than simply applying for a hair product patent. There was a very stringent process in which I had to prove I created this myself and that it’s a brand new concept that no one else in the world has ever done before. At the end of the day, instead of us complaining about others stealing (and profiting from) our beauty creations, trends, and ideas, we can legally protect our inventions and keep the financial gain within our communities. In its most obvious sense, owning a patent can stop others from stealing your invention and profiting off of your hard work. But intellectual property (IP) can also be a part of wealth building. Many entrepreneurs don’t attempt to even apply because of the costs involved when using an attorney, or they don’t feel they can navigate the process themselves. I have three trademarks and one patent and I’ve never used an attorney or intermediary (such as LegalZoom) for any of them. There’s a lot of education, sweat equity and time involved when applying for IP yourself, but it’s well worth it. When it comes to wealth building, owning a patent puts you in a whole other league. In an action that the people of The Gambia have referred to as unprecedented, in the history of their country, President Yayah Jammeh last week acting within the powers conferred upon him by section 82 of the constitution of The Gambia pardoned all those convicted of treason, since 1994 to 2013 and are serving death sentences or life imprisonment, including a Sierra Leonean citizen for drugs.
Giving his address during the 21st year anniversary celebration at the July 22nd Revolution in Banjul, President Jammeh said all those convicted of murder and has served at lease ten years are pardoned.
However, he stressed that such pardon of murder convicts have exception. Those are cannibals, who rallied a woman in a farm, chopped her body into pieces and ate some of it. Secondly is a man who shot his first wife and wanted to wipe out all the children of the wife because they opposed to him taking a second wife. Thirdly are a group of foreigners, that killed a British citizen, stabbing him more than 71 times in his car and trying to burn his dead body.
According to President Yayah Jammeh such type of convicts he will never forgive, neither perpetrators of violence against women and children and persons found guilty of infanticide. He strictly warned that there will be no mercy for raping children as convicts will serve the full sentence. Additionally, the President also pardoned all first offenders of possessing and trafficking cannabis sativa that has served at lease three years of their sentences.
With regards hard drugs, the Gambian leader said all those who have served five years for cocaine and other hard drugs are forgiven. For convicted rapist says President Jammeh, if the victim is above 20 years, then the culprit is pardoned, including all Gambian dissidents.
“In as much as we welcome everybody, irrespective of your color, your race, your religion or wherever you come from or your culture, all convicted foreigners should be deported immediately” he announced.
The Gambian leader warned all those pardoned and their families to never be on the wrong side of the law again for the next ten years or they will pay the price. He reiterated that drugs, drug trafficking, murder and rape are hence not tolerated in The Gambia.
“As Muslims and good Christians the Holy Quran and Holy Bible teaches us about forgiveness and total devotion to Allah. If I don’t forgive then I am not a good leader. My strength lies in my belief in the Almighty Allah” Says President Jammeh.
Less than a week after their release, the pardoned convicts staged a solidarity march in the capital city of Banjul. They openly pledged their support for President Jammeh and his government.

Comedian Trevor Noah is the first recipient of the South African of the Year accolade.
Calls to vote for four remarkable South Africans who had achieved global recognition in their chosen field went out on social media platform Twitter on Monday 21 September.
Noah was a narrow winner over cricketer AB de Villiers and sprinter Wayde van Niekerk.
"The South African of the Year is someone who with a single phenomenal achievement made you extremely proud of being South African," says Jan Braai, the man behind the National Braai Day initiative and now the South African of the Year project.
"Our intention is to highlight exceptional performances by South Africans that for a brief moment in time brought the country to a standstill," says Braai, "those special moments where the hearts of the nation beat together united in pride."
Noah, already a household name in South Africa, was nominated for reaching even greater heights in 2015 when it was announced in March that he would replace Jon Stewart as the host of Comedy Central's popular The Daily Show.
"Trevor's sensational achievement embodies the spirit of the greatest nation on earth," says Braai. "We can achieve great things in South Africa, Trevor is leading the way, raising our spirits and showing that anything is possible."
The South African of the Year was chosen by public vote on Twitter, voting ran until midnight on 23 September.

“What I’m seeing is amazing,” Glover said.
Wood explained to the guests how the city government works and interacts with the county government. Stamps-Jones explained how Riverdale’s Town Center was born out of Riverdale’s desire to be a close-knit community.
The meeting concluded with a tour of the facilities.
The representatives from the two cities expressed interest in becoming “sister cities” in the future.

The Richest Countries in the World

Windhoek — The three richest countries in the world are Qatar (1), Luxembourg (2) and Singapore (3) while the poorest are Burundi (182), Zimbabwe (183) and the Democratic Republic of Congo (184). Namibia is ranked at 100 on the list while South Africa is ranked 80th. This is according to Global Finance magazine's latest ratings.
The magazine explains that there are two standard methods of defining the richest countries in the world. One takes into account the economies that are the largest, as measured by total gross domestic product (GDP). However, the most commonly accepted definition of the wealthiest countries is to determine how rich the average resident of a country is. For this reason, the best method is to use gross domestic product data per capita.
Moreover, Global Finance states that using a PPP (purchasing power parity) basis is arguably more useful when comparing generalised differences in living standards on the whole between nations. This is because PPP takes into account the relative cost of living and the inflation rates of the countries, rather than using just exchange rates, which may distort the real differences in income. This is the measure most economists prefer when looking at per-capita wealth and when comparing economic strength between countries and living conditions or use of resources across countries. According to the World Bank, comparable measures of economic activity, wealth and living standards are useful for many purposes. Foreign investors, traders, and potential immigrants want to know an economy's market size, productivity and prices. The globalization of markets for goods, services, finance, labour and ideas reinforces the interdependence of economies and the need to measure them on a common scale. Countries cannot share responsibilities for global public goods the environment, security, development assistance and global governance - without meaningful assessments of the real size of their economies and the wealth of their people. But comparing the real size of economies is not easy. Even in an integrated global economy, large differences in the costs of goods and services persist. Exchange rates can be used to convert values in one currency to another, but since they do not fully reflect differences in price levels, they cannot measure the real volume of output.
Exchange rates are determined by the demand for and supply of currencies used in international transactions, ignoring domestic economic sectors where prices are set in relative isolation from the rest of the world--thus the familiar experience of international travellers, who discover that they can buy more, or less, of the same goods in different countries when converting their money using the prevailing exchange rates.

To measure the real size of the world's economy and to compare costs of living across countries, we need to adjust for differences in purchasing power. Finding a way to adjust for those differences has given rise to the efforts to measure purchasing power parities (PPPs), which convert local currencies to a common currency, such as the U.S. dollar.
Purchasing power parities are needed because similar goods and services have widely varying prices across countries when converted to a common currency using market exchange rates. Differences are greatest in sectors not commonly traded internationally, such as housing, construction and health and education services.
Price differences are smaller for widely traded products, such as machinery and equipment, after allowing for taxes, distributor margins and transport costs. PPPs include the prices of tradable and non-tradable goods, using weights that reflect their relative importance in total GDP.
Since 1970 the International Comparison Program (ICP) has conducted eight rounds of PPP estimates for the major components of countries' gross domestic product (GDP) the most recent for 2005. High-income countries regularly take part in such programs, but 2005 was the first time since 1993 that comprehensive price surveys were carried out in developing economies. I did A levels in biology, chemistry, French and IT so it’s probably not surprising that I ended up in digital health. I was part of a cohort of students on the UK’s first clinically led undergraduate biomedical informatics course at St George’s Medical School, University of London. I graduated in 2009 with a first class honours and then I was offered an informatics scholarshipopens in new window at City University London where I completed an MSc in health informatics.
I then worked in the NHS for a year as an information analyst. I wanted to work outside academia to get a holistic view of careers in this area, but I’d always planned on coming back to academia and in 2012 I was one of six students to get an MRC studentship at the University of Glasgow.

My research evaluates a national project in Scotland called Living it Upopens in new window, which is part of a larger UK-wide study looking at how digital technologies such as television, smartphones, games consoles and computers can be used to empower people to improve their own health and wellbeing. There are two that really stand out. One was being voted as doing the best presentation at our Institute of Health and Wellbeing conference in 2014. Accolades like that mean a lot when they come from your peers. The second was presenting at a major conference in my field in New York, also in 2014. It was great to present my research on an international platform.
Skills I need to do my job
A lot of it is time and project management. I’ve also learnt many transferable skills from being on the MRC doctoral training programme such as interviewing techniques and qualitative data analysis which I’ve put into practice in my research. I’ve also trained as a Graduate Teaching Assistant and I have monitored and assessed master’s degree students. Biggest challenges
The project I’m evaluating is still ongoing, so I have to be able to adapt to changing situations and keep pace (though that makes it exciting too).
I am inspired by
I have so many mentors! Being a multidisciplinary student, I have four supervisors (across clinical medicine, computing and social science) all of whom provide advice and support. But this is also a bit of a challenge as they all have different expectations for me to meet. My family are also a really important source of support — my twin sister is doing a PhD in a similar research area also in Glasgow, and we really help each other out.
Words of wisdom
Be prepared to work hard, and be proactive. It’s quite easy to become isolated when you’re doing a PhD, so I would recommend that people get involved in as many activities as possible. A PhD isn’t just about your research project; it’s about becoming an earlycareer researcher.
Next steps
I’m not sure if I’ll follow the traditional postdoc route in research. Ideally I’d like to be able to combine academic research with working with a company in the field such as a large technology company or non-governmental organisation.

8 Us Businesses Visit Ghana To Explore Opportunities -
Eight U.S. companies visited Ghana September 13-14 to explore business partnership opportunities as part of the largest-ever U.S. government-led trade mission to Africa. The U.S. Department of Commerce’s Trade Winds—Africa mission brought over 100 companies from 25 U.S. states and across industry sectors to connect with opportunities throughout the continent, including Ghana, Angola, Ethiopia, Kenya, Mozambique, Nigeria, South Africa and Tanzania. The mission is part of a concerted effort under the President Obama administration called the Doing Business in Africa campaign, under which the U.S. government has committed billions of dollars to development in SubSaharan Africa, and has facilitated billions more in U.S.-Africa business deals. “Africa is on the forefront of an economic emergence that will shape the world’s business environment for years to come,” said U.S. Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Industry and Analysis Marcus Jadotte. “The United States and the U.S. business community see Africa as an important partner.” Economic growth in Sub-Saharan Africa is inviting for foreign companies, as it hosts six of the ten fastest-growing economies in the world, but what draws U.S. companies especially to Africa is the opportunity to make a difference as well as increase revenue. “American companies are innovative and produce quality goods and services, but what really separates most of them is a desire to make an impact,” said U.S. Senior Commercial Officer Paul Taylor, who works out of the U.S. Embassy in Accra. “U.S. companies leave behind trained workforces and improved infrastructure, among other benefits. “The U.S. commitment to corporate social responsibility is difficult to match in global business.” The eight companies—Amalie Oil, Ardry Trading, The Von Corporation, RadioShack, Graphic Products, ITSI Biosciences, Black & Veatch and Black Opal—arrived in Ghana on Sunday and spent Monday meeting with 68 Ghanaian businesses. Ghana and Canada rekindle a historic soccer rivalry at the senior level during their October 13, 2015 clash at Washington DC in the United States. The million dollar question is, will the Canadian underdogs repeat history with another victory or will Ghana avenge the 2-1 defeat suffered during their first clash a little over 30 years ago?
A desire to repeat history and the urge for revenge have created suspense and generated interest in this friendly. Canada recorded that victory June 2, 1985 in Seoul during The Presidents Cup; an international tournament hosted by the South Koreans at the time.

The Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, has finally tied the knot with his rumoured heartthrob, Sa’adatu Barkindo-Musdafa, the daughter of the Lamido of Adamawa, Muhammadu BarkindoMusdafa. The 18-year old becomes the emir’s fourth wife. She recently completed secondary school and is been enrolled for advanced level studies. AN ANTICIPATED happy wedding of Prophet Albert Mensah alias Nana Kofi, Founder of the Jesus Foundation Prayer Ministry at Site 14, Community 1, Tema, rather went sour yesterday morning when a 20-year-old woman with her three-week-old baby boy disrupted the ceremony.
The marriage department of the Tema Metropolitan Assembly (TMA) became a site of attraction for most staff of the assembly, passersby and traders at the Tema Central Market when the woman, Ms Mabel Patamia, accompanied by her relations and sympathisers, demanded that the registrar halt the solemn ceremony between the prophet and one Joyce Anima Damptey.
Ms Patamia did not even allow the couple to take the vows as she interrupted every pronouncement, prompting the Assistant Marriage Registrar to introduce her to the gathering.

Isaac Ashai Odamtten, Metropolitan Chief Executive (MCE) of Tema, who overheard Mabel’s persistent screams, quickly intervened to hold a crunch meeting with both parties and the marriage department.
After close to 30 minutes, it was concluded that the assembly would withhold the marriage certificate of the couple till Ms Patamia was dully compensated. The pastor was also to sign an undertaking at the Social Welfare Department that he would cater for the child.
Prophet Nana Kofi was later whisked away in a car together with his wouldbe wife amidst jeers and boos from the crowd.

Cynthia Patamia said to her surprise, she was in the house at Site 5, Community 1, Tema, when news got to her that Prophet Nana Kofi was getting marriage to another woman who was also pregnant for him.
According to her, “I quickly called my daughter, some friends and relatives and we went to the assembly to stop them from getting marriage since he cannot take my daughter and me for a ride.”
Mabel Patamia told Daily Guide that although she was demanding that the marriage should be halted, she had no problem with Prophet Nana Kofi getting married; but was only concerned with the clandestine way he was going about it.
Meanwhile, the marriage department of the assembly is said to be in a fix and could face possible legal action if it failed to issue the marriage certificate to them.
This is because the couple were said to have gone through all the processes as their names were pasted on the marriage notice board for the expected 21 days and even had additional five days which elapsed before they were booked to come for the solemnisation. As Christians, I like to think that we are careful to keep in mind that as long as we have accepted Christ as our personal Savior, we immediately enter a spiritual warfare against the agents of darkness. It is a spiritual truth. It is a spiritual choice. Joshua tells the Israelites, “…if serving the LORD seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the LORD” (Joshua 24:15). And St. Paul says, “… many live as enemies of the cross of Christ. Their destiny is destruction… Their mind is set on earthly things. But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ” Phil. (3:18-20). Though unbelievers are for the Anti-Christ and do not know it, because they haven’t come to know and/or accept the truth of Christ as their personal Savior, we, Christians who read the word of God and have been taught, know the truth and do our best to remain in the path that Christ has laid for us. We witness to others and share our testimonies. We read the Bible and sing our songs of praise. We attend church services and hold various positions in the church—all in the service of God. We are called. We are blessed. And we are victorious. Well, we are victorious and feel victorious until a trial really hits us hard. The trial could be a terrible situation that we can’t get over. While we can attest to the goodness of God in our lives, the situation rocks us so terribly that we cannot believe that our loving and faithful God has permitted it to befall us, we who have been so faithful, we who have been so dutiful. We become despondent. We become disturbed. We become discouraged. And we think things and even say things that we shouldn’t. One elderly woman close to me once bitterly complained and asked why the Lord allowed her old mother to die and permit her evil mother-in-law to continue to live! She was serious and she was in pain. She was not ready to lose her mother though her mother had lived a very long life. She took it as a terrible blow, which death is, but that her mother-in-law was still alive, had nothing to do with her mother’s health, life or death. Yet her question was why must she suffer when she had been a good Christian and her mother who was also a good Christian died while an evil woman continued to walk the earth? She was devastated and questioned God’s goodness and judgment. How many of us have not questioned God? Even Job, this most righteous man even by God’s own account questioned God. God says of Job that “there is no one on earth like him; he is blameless and upright, a man who fears God and shuns evil” (Job 1: 8). While Job was faithful and did not sin despite the sudden and dev-

astating loss of all his children and property, and the painful and embarrassing disease inflicted on him, he still questioned God. He asks God, “Why did I not perish at birth, and die as I came from the womb?” (Job 3:11). And he further expresses his bitterness saying, “I will not refrain my mouth; I will speak in the anguish of my spirit; I will complain in the bitterness of my soul” (Job 7:11). But having the last word, God responds by reprimanding Job questioning him, who are you and where were you when I created the world? How do you dare question my actions? (Job 38). Yet, even after God chastises him, He restores everything Job lost and blesses him beyond what he had in his previous life. We are likely not as righteous as Job was, yet we question God when we go through something painful, something we consider unbearable, though the Bible teaches that “no temptation has overtaken us except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let us be tempted beyond what we can bear. But when we are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that we can endure it” (I Cor. 10:13). Let’s recall that the great prophet Elijah also once ran away from serving the Lord for fear of his pending fate. After all Elijah did, risking his life as God’s representative, commanding the heavens to shut out rain for years, and then reversing it publically in front of his idol-worshiping enemies to prove the omnipotence of His Yahweh God, and then killing four hundred and fifty prophets of Baal yet, this prophet quickly took to the hills in his desperate escape for fear of the threats made by the wicked and murderous Jezebel. I Kings chapter 19 states, “now Ahab told Jezebel everything Elijah had done and how he had killed all the prophets with the sword. So Jezebel sent a messenger to Elijah to say, “May the gods deal with me, be it ever so severely, if by this time tomorrow I do not make your life like that of one of them.” Elijah was afraid and ran for his life… into the wilderness. He came to a broom bush, sat down under it and prayed that he might die. “I have had enough, LORD,” he said. “Take my life; I am no better than my ancestors” (1-5). A dejected and disillusioned Elijah bitterly complained to God about his suffering and further said, “I have been very zealous for the Lord God Almighty. The Israelites have rejected your covenant, torn down your altars, and put your prophets to death with the sword. I am the only one left, and now they are trying to kill me too” (I Kings 19:10). Yes, even the great prophet Elijah, after all his demonstrations of wonder in the name of God, which one would think should rather embolden him, became discouraged and even bitter. While it is understandable that Elijah would be downcast, his assumptions were unfounded. He thought highly of his service and faithfulness to God, yet God made him know that He had reserved seven thousand faithful Israelites who worshiped Him. For example, there was Elisha, the one who would soon replace Elijah. We can see ourselves through Elijah’s expressions that as flesh and blood, when we are tried and our backs are against the wall, we tend to be true to our feelings instead of our calling, we want to quit; we want to die. We succumb to questions of why and how because we are hurting and living by our emotions when we should be thinking higher, living in the spirit and keeping our focus on our spiritual mission and purpose. Yes, we are here to serve a purpose and it is not all about us, though we like to think it is. But even if we can only think about ourselves at such times, then we should again

think higher and keep our minds on God’s plan for us, because He assures us that, “…I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future” (Jeremiah 29: 11). When we don’t stay focused on the love and mercies of God, we make terrible and faulty assumptions and say foolish things, making accusations of God and getting ourselves in trouble with the Supreme Being. Despite Elijah’s complaints, we learn that God thought so much of him that Elijah did not die a natural death, but was taken by a whirlwind to heaven (II Kings 2:1). Like Elijah and Job, we can’t begin to imagine how God will reward us for our faithfulness. We sing a common song during worship. The song says, “Lord prepare me, to be a sanctuary, pure and holy, tried and true, with thanksgiving, I'll be a living sanctuary, for you.” When we sing this song, we say to our God, our acknowledged Maker and Master that we offer our lives, our entire beings to Him. We resign our power and feelings, our agency to do His will to please Him. We tell Him that He owns us, that we want to be worthy vessels within which His Spirit can live, vessels that He can use to His glory. We tell Him that we are sacrificing our lives to Him just as He sacrificed His for us on Calvary. But when all hell breaks loose on us, instead of being true to the work He did on the cross for us, we revert to our sense of self either in complaints, anger, or resignation. When we are tried and prove true to our emotions, rather than stay focused on the work we are called to do, we are in the least chastised as Job was or are punished like Moses. Moses, a true servant, developed a great relationship with God. In that time, there was no one that God showed Himself to as much as He did Moses. God regularly spoke with Moses, encouraging, guiding, and directing his words and actions. He even defended Moses’ honor by punishing those who spoke against him. But even Moses, one who is described as the meekest of men came to a point in the road, where he yielded to his emotions instead of to God. Because Moses was fed up with the complaining and ungrateful Israelites, instead of speaking to the Rock to retrieve water as God had instructed him, an angry Moses struck it (Numbers 20:10). Consequently, God did not allow him to set foot on the Promised Land. How tragic for us that like Moses, we will miss our reward because in the midst of adverse circumstances, we allow our emotions to rule us and guide our actions. When we are tested and tried and we become desperate to escape our lot, will we be true to our emotions or to the God in whom we have believed, the God to whom we have pledged our allegiance? Let us pray that we will be careful to be wise and discerning, to be slow to murmuring and to refrain from accusing God. It is all together tragic that aside from Joshua and Caleb, none of the original Israelites who escaped the bondage of slavery made it to the Promised Land, because they angered God through their murmurings, ungratefulness, rebellion and forgetfulness of God’s goodness and mercy. They were either destroyed by God Himself or He simply allowed them to expire before the end of the journey. And to think that even one as faithful and tested as Moses who had been so close to God should also not cross the threshold to Canaan! If we want to achieve the goal ahead of us, if we want to realize God’s promise for our lives, then let us be wise and temper our words and actions, becoming more humble, Christians who are worthy vessels deserving of honor.

My wonderful girlfriend and I had been dating 4 over a year and so we decided to get married. There was only one little thing bothering me…It was her beautiful younger sister. My prospective 21 year old sister-in-law, always wore very tight miniskirts, and often times was bra-less. She would regularly bend down when she was near me,and I always got more than a nice view.
One day her little sis called and asked me to come over to check the wedding invitations. She was alone when I arrived,and she whispered to me that she had feelings and desires for me that she couldn’t overcome. She told me that she wanted me just once before I get married and commit my life to her sister.
Well, I was in total shock, and couldn’t say a word. She said, I’m going upstairs to my room, and if you want one last wild fling, just come up and get me. I was stunned and frozen in shock as I watched her go upstairs.

The girl, who was rushed to the hospital by teachers, turned out to be in her late stages of labour – she was seven months pregnant.
Thirty-eight teenage girls have reportedly died following a horrific bus crash on their way to dance for the Swaziland’s King Mswati III.
The deaths of these young girls described as being ‘virgins’ have led to calls for the cancellation of Monday’s annual event.
The girls who died were among 50 teenagers aboard a lorry which crashed into a car that police escorts had directed to the roadside.
A second lorry rammed into the first from behind on a highway bridge in Matsapha, on route to King Mswati’s royal palace in Lozitha.
The traditional annual dance has over the years become a tourist attraction that interests people from all over the world. As many as 80,000 girls are expected to parade and dance for King Mswati.

The girl said the ex-stepfather had threatened to kill her mother and brother if she attempted to make the abuse public.
The man has been charged with r*pe of a child and illegal possession of firearms.

Having higher-end buyers desire an increase in value for indigenous textiles like the ones used for Osei- Duro’s designs shows the demand for something unique. But how do we take something unique to one culture and make it accessible to all while reflecting this value of luxury?

Momolu further describes how she strives to define luxury by ensuring her designs are for every day women who embrace having body types that differ from society’s standards. She makes pieces that fit -all women- or African/American women of all sizes, while catering to respective market needs.
Designer Mathias explained how Osei-Duro marries western tastes for silk and rayon fabrics to traditional dye techniques from Ghana to create their renowned prints and designs. Every piece becomes a special keepsake that represents Ghana.
Onyii & Co. graced the runway with bright cheer-filled colors and bird-inspired prints throughout her dresses and other outfits. Her designs brought the ambience of a fresh start to a vibrant morning. The mood changed when Sarfo of Styles’ dramatic evening gowns flowed down the catwalk. Geometrics and drama filled his collection with loop-like dresses. As some of the models walked towards the end of the runway, dresses with large loops were suddenly released to morph into more modern and wearable silhouettes accompanied by gasps of awe from an enchanted audience. As the collection continued, black and white pieces along with some bold fabrics caught the attention of guests throughout his 15 piece + presentation of designs. Maryanne Mathias brought an L.A. vibe with her Ghanaian indigenous textiles with pieces by Osei-Duro. Every dress and ready-to-wear design showed off the intricate signature prints on their bags and clothing.
The excitement continued with Ashley Macfarlane’s dashiki dresses from fashion label Asikere Afana. Her fun flirty and sustainable line (made in Ghana), created a down-to-earth

vibe. LinDi of House of Mucha also brought back a blast from the past feel with her 70’s inspired pieces for both men and women. Greek inspired pastel designs brought on a calm mood as models displayed Sakia Lek’s pieces. Sandals and flowery headbands tied these pieces together seamlessly.Designer Fikirte Addis of fashion label Yefikir also displayed boho chic ready-to-wear pieces. Each piece had water-like and air-like movements, reminiscent of the earth’s elements — truly indicative of mother nature. A dramatic finale by Dahli Republic of Couture followed Yefikir’s designs.Designer Hilda Mauya’s series of jackets and red dress pieces from her Red Ruby collection brought a sophisticated flair that definitely had a mixture of both African and Western influences. Ghanaian Pastor Making Waves In USA September 2015

Recently at the Delaware branch of his ministry a 21 year old young man from Cameroon by name Luther Asagaya testified how he was addicted to smoking Cigarette and Indian Hemp since he was 12 but he succumbed to the power of God under the feet of the man of God and his life has seen a major transformation. Speaking before the congregation the young man said " I have been smoking for the past ten years, I became so addicted that it became a huge burden and I resorted to all means to stop this habit but all efforts proved futile due to peer pressure." Asagaya also recalled how he was once beaten by five men at a night club and sustained an injury on his forehead.
Asagaya further stated that, he was invited Restoration Chapel International in Delaware by a friend to an all-night program. He stated that he was reluctant initially but his instincts told him to go and perhaps he will get his salvation.
In addition, Asagaya stated that during the service he was called out from the congregation by the Prophet and he prayed for him. He also stated that during the service he had a pocket full of Cigarette in church but I immediately got rid of the cigarette after the Holy Spirit arrested him.
More to this, Asagaya said after his encounter with God he had shunned the scent of Cigarette and Indian hemp and no longer had the desire to smoke. The helicopter sports a television set, a clock on the back of a seat, and a two way- radio. It has a green and a red light on its tail that flash at night. Its engine is powered by petrol and a motorbike battery is used to propel the rotor. The rotor hub is housed in an old cold drink crate.
The cockpit is also built out of cold drink crates. A fire extinguisher is located on the left side of the helicopter. It stands on a four-wheeled trolley built out of scrap metal.
All he wanted to do was fly in a helicopter. So an unemployed man at Siza informal settlement near Rustenburg decided to follow his dream – and build his own helicopter.
Now he is calling on aviation experts or experienced pilots to check if it would be safe for him to take his home-built helicopter on its maiden flight.
Vusimuzi Mbatha, 35, originally from Libode in the Eastern Cape, said he became fascinated with helicopters after seeing one during a strike on the platinum belt in North West in 2014.
"I dreamt I was controlling a helicopter. That was in January last year, during the strike in the platinum mines. The dream continued and I decided to follow it. It was easy to build this helicopter because I have a vision of what I wanted to do," he said.
He said he started to buy parts, bit by bit, and used scrap metal to build his helicopter.
The giant helicopter stands proud in front of his shack, attracting locals to take a look at the metal giant with a roaring engine.
"We thought he was playing when he started to assemble it. We did not see it until today [18 June]. All we heard was the roar of an engine and rotating rotor," said Kgositsile Lumko.
"We are surprised. We never expected something like this to come from our area. This guy is talented. [The] government needs to help him to take his dream further."
Interest in science
Mbatha, who only went to school up to Grade 7, said he was always interested in science but could not further his education because of financial constraints.
"I like the military, that is the reason for my helicopter to resemble an army helicopter," he said, dressed in camouflage pants and black beret.
"The clock helps me to know what time the flight took place and what time I return."
The steering wheel is made from a PlayStation control. There is also a clutch and an accelerator.
"The helicopter is incomplete; there are some parts that I have to put in. The challenge is the money. I am not working and depend on odd jobs to build this helicopter."
He wanted experienced pilots or aviation experts to inspect his helicopter before he could take it to the sky, Mbatha said.
"Flying is dangerous. I want the helicopter to be inspected for safety before I can fly."
Inspiration
Neighbours flocked to Mbatha's shack when they heard the roar of an engine.
"We are impressed. How he managed to build this is a miracle," said Selobane James.
Thabang Khang said Mbatha's inventions were a motivating factor for children in Siza.
"A lot of children must draw inspiration from this man. With limited education he pursued his dream and is just few steps away from reaching his goal. He is highly talented."
Mbatha came to Rustenburg a decade ago looking for a job on the mines, but remains unemployed.

Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan through his foundation has registered the entire membership of the Ghana Blind Union in the Eastern Region - Suhum Sector - onto the National Health Insurance Scheme.
