Protect your child by installing a child seat engineered to survive crash forces. Unlike your arms, it’s the safest method available for child protection in a car accident. FIND THE RIGHT SEAT • Use an infant-only seat for infants up to 14 kg. Keep it rear-facing and semi-reclined. Be sure the harness comes from slots at or below the baby’s shoulders and is snug when buckled. • Use your convertible child seat in a forward-facing and upright position for toddlers and children between 14 and 30 kg. Be sure the harness straps are coming from above the child’s shoulders. • For children between 30 and 45 kg use a belt-positioning-booster seat. • Children over 46 kg must pass the safety-belt-fit criteria before wearing a normal car safety belt. • Knees should bend naturally at the edge of the seat. • The lap belt should sit low on the hips. • The shoulder part of the seatbelt should rest on the shoulder or collarbone. • The child should be able to maintain this position the length of your trip.

The Z71 Off-Road Suspension Package is available on the 2LT model and includes specially tuned springs and monotube shocks, high-capacity air cleaner and a Skid Plate Package with aluminum front underbody shield. It also features automatic locking rear differential, body-color wheel flares, 18-inch aluminum wheels paired with on/off-road blackwall tires, recovery hooks and tubular assist steps. The Z71 Off-Road Package offers leather-appointed Ebony seats that can also be accented with Morocco Brown or Light Titanium inserts, specially designed front fascia with chrome grille insert, Z71 badging and a Z71-specific gauge.

The Vortec 5300 V8 engine under the hood of Avalanche is all about power, performance and flexibility. The engine generates 310hp (net) and 452Nm of torque on 2WD models. Its Active Fuel Management™ technology deactivates four of the eight cylinders when extra power isn’t needed, such as when cruising down the highway on level roads. A smooth-shifting, six-speed automatic transmission with overdrive and Tow/Haul mode is also standard.
Active Fuel ManagementTM Technology With Active Fuel ManagementTM from GM, power is delivered when you need it. Here’s how Active Fuel ManagementTM deactivates four of the eight cylinders with seamless precision in the Vortec 5300:
• When load demands increase, such as when the vehicle accelerates or travels uphill, cylinders are reactivated to provide eight-cylinder operation. • The powerful 32-bit engine control computer triggers cylinder deactivation based on inputs from vehicle sensors — making deactivation almost undetectable. • In addition, exhaust-noise silencing measures and revised powertrain mounts add to the engine’s overall smoothness. • The bottom line is, the next-generation Vortec 5300 V8 is more efficient in providing the energy to move the vehicle when only four of the eight cylinders are operating.
On 2WD models, Tow/Haul mode and heavy-duty trailering equipment help pull up to 3720kg. Avalanche 4x4 models can tow up to 3628kg. Standard trailering equipment includes a hitch platform, seven-wire harness and a 5cm receiver and when hooking up a trailer, the available rearview camera system makes it easy.

NOTE: Towing a trailer involves all major vehicle systems of your Chevrolet. Easy and safe trailering requires a properly equipped vehicle, additional trailering equipment and an appropriate trailer. It also requires loading both the vehicle and trailer properly, using safe driving techniques, meeting regional legal requirements and following break-in and maintenance schedules. For more information, consult your Owner’s Manual and speak to a trailering expert at your Chevrolet dealership. To help you understand trailering better, consider these trailering factors:
TRAILERING CAUTION: If you don’t use the correct equipment and drive properly, you can lose control of your vehicle when you pull a trailer. Pull a trailer only after you have taken the following steps.
RGAWR AND GVWR: Addition of trailer hitch weight cannot cause vehicle weights to exceed Rear Gross Axle Weight Rating (RGAWR) or Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR). These ratings can be found on the certification label located on the driver door or door frame.
HITCHES: It’s important to have the correct hitch equipment. If you’ll be towing a trailer that, when loaded, will weigh more than 2268kg* be sure to use a frame-mounted, weightdistributing hitch and sway control of the proper size. If you have to make any holes in the body of your vehicle to install a trailer hitch, be sure to seal the holes if you ever remove the hitch.
GCWR: The Gross Combination Weight Rating is the total allowable weight of the completely loaded vehicle and trailer.
TRAILER BRAKES: If your trailer weighs more than 907kg loaded, then it must have its own adequate brakes. Be sure to read and follow the instructions for the trailer brake controller so that it is installed, adjusted and maintained properly.
*Maximum trailer rating may be less, based upon powertrain combination.
MAXIMUM TRAILER RATING: This rating is determined by subtracting the tow vehicle’s weight (curb weight) from the GCWR. When a Base vehicle (curb) weight is used, additional passenger, equipment and cargo weight reduce this rating.
Weight-carrying hitch limit: 2268kg trailer with 272kg tongue weight. Weight-distributing hitch and sway control required over 2268kg trailer weight. The vehicle owner is responsible for obtaining the hitch ball, a hitch of the proper size, type and capacity, and other appropriate equipment required to safely tow both the trailer and the load that will be towed. Ask your Chevrolet dealer for advice about the proper trailering equipment for your new vehicle.
