Janelle C. Santos Accountant II Guam Memorial Hospital Authority

Janelle C. Santos is currently an Accountant II for the Guam Memorial Hospital Authority (GMHA). She is responsible for managing GMHA’s patient accounts receivable. Working for Guam’s public hospital has given her the opportunities to implement Revenue Cycle Management (RCM) workflows to increase cash flow, maximize revenue, streamline manual processes, and improve in the overall patient accounting system. Under her guidance, she provides support for patient accounts management, financial analysis, and accounts reconciliation to ensure compliance with federal regulations. In her role, she supervises 6 Accounting Technicians, 1 Collection Agent, and 2 Cashiers responsible for follow-up on insurance receivables, patient/insurance payment posting, and communicating with healthcare insurances to address issues on claims to minimize denials and maximize reimbursement.

A 2012 graduate of Simon Sanchez High School, Janelle continued her studies by completing her Bachelor’s in Business Administration in Accounting with a minor in Public Administration from the University of Guam in 2015. During her time, she was the President of the Junior Accountant Society and served as a Senator for UOG’s Student Body Association.

After completing her internship at Department of Administration – Division of Accounts, she was hired as an Accountant I at GMHA in 2015. Her interest in public accounting inspired her to complete her Master’s in Public Administration from the University of Guam in 2016. During her practicum, she co-wrote the “2016 CNMI Economic Report” that has been published in UOG’s Regional Center for Public Policy.

Janelle has recently became a member of the Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA) and completed her Certified Revenue Cycle Representative Certification in August 2020.

She is the daughter of +Jaime S. and Soledad C. Santos of Yigo, Guam.
