Rui Costa
Javier García Alba, graduated from ETSAM Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, after successful collaborations with prominent architects, founded in 1992 what today is one of the most prestiguious Spanish Architectural firms.
From the beginning, Javier García Alba has had the aim of creating a multidisciplinary team based on the adecuate balance between young strong designers and senior skilled professionals. AGAS is a consulting firm which deals with a broad range of work from Hospitality to Housing, Public developments and interior design.
In addition to the broad experience gained while working with John Portman in several projects in Portugal and USA, he has completed several master´s degrees, such as a Master in Lighting with Philips (EindowenNederland’s), a Master in HAVC with LUWA© (Zurich), Master in Structural Engineering at Metal Engineering (Geneva), Master in Computer Aided Design at University of Bristol (England) provided by Architect Mike Baowman and further academic training in the Hospitality field.

Beside his extensive experience practising architecture, Javier García Alba is well known in the academic field with several years of teaching at SEK University of Architecture. He has also worked as Associate Professor in the Master´s degree “Intervention in Old Buildings” and “Implementation of Urban scale within the Old Town”. Camuñas Foundation. Madrid School of Architecture. He has taken part as guest speaker in several lectures and seminars including the conferences “Sports and project’s typologies” (Valencia School of Architecture),”The Coliseum” (La Coruna), “Implementation of Sport Spaces and their dimension in the Cities” (Salamanca) and “Intervention in listed buildings”(Madrid School of Architectural Technology).

Rui Costa, Architect graduated at Lisbon School of Architecture ESBAL (19771982), has over 30 years of experience in Hospitality projects.
Recently joined, he has contributed to AGAS with his experience in developing hotel projects from inception to hand-over. Highly specialised in hotel briefs, layouts and area requirements for both BOH and FOH, he has been involved in more than 50 Hotels, in different countries, such as Spain , Portugal, Argentina, Qatar, Oman, Portugal, Corsega, Rusia, Africa, etc...
He has held the conference about “The Madrid Regional Archive depository at Amaniel” and the monographic Course “Historical Heritage” in Reinosa (Cantabria). Invited by the Peruvian Chamber of Construction, Jose Javier García has delivered his most recent lecture in Peru to discuss the future of the city of Lima.
Focused on hotel interior design projects, he has been involved in several projects that have produced creative spaces of unique atmosphere. Some of his most significant creations are the two Guadalpin Hotels (Marbella and Banus), Hotel Emperador (Buenos Aires), Quartier Hotel, Losail Marina, 4 Samrya Hotels (all in Qatar),Ritz Carlton - Abama Hotel(Tenerife), several Hotels in Madrid (Spain), Algarve (Portugal) and other notable hotels all over the world.
Thanks to his wide vision, and advanced concepts, AGAS projects have always had special mentions from specialised publications in addition to several awards: the recognition of the excellent buildings and spaces created with unbreakable committment.
Client representation as project manager has granted him international recognition in the Hospitality sector, holding the main role in the development of the new Doha Waldorf Astoria Hotel (Qatar), which is currently under construction.
