A Senior Real Estate Specialist® (SRES®) has unique training and experience in helping home buyers and sellers in your situation.

As we all make this journey through life, gaining knowledge, wisdom, and experience, we also acquire age. Each stage of our lives has unique challenges and rewards. When we are over 50, we all face different obstacles; finances, retirement, downsizing, relocating, medical and health concerns, or other major life events. Selling a home can be an emotional time, especially if it involves other life events requiring this change.

Why should you contact an SRES® REALTOR®?

• An SRES® understands that selling your home can be a difficult decision. It may just be the need to downsize or a necessity due to a life event. An SRES® understands the issues facing older adults. They can help you navigate your choices by taking a no-pressure approach and may be able to offer alternative suggestions to help you stay in your home.

• Your SRES® is there to support you and make you feel comfortable with the selling and/or buying process. Most importantly, they prioritize looking out for your best interests throughout all aspects of your transaction; they will be there when you need them and tailor the marketing process to your specific needs.

• An SRES® has invested time and training to achieve this designation to be properly equipped to assist the over 50 sellers or buyers.

• Your SRES® can draw on a network of other professionals who focus on clients over 50: Estate Planners, Financial Advisors, Tax Counselors who can help you understand the financial consequences of selling your home. They can also assist you with interior staging and trade contractors to prepare for the marketing and showing of your home, as well as post-sale concerns like moving specialists, estate sale organizers, and transitional coaching for your new location.

Having an SRES® working with you on the sale or purchase of a home gives you peace of mind knowing you are not alone in the transaction. They can help you look at or discover options you may not have been aware of. They can also help you avoid loan schemes or scams that have victimized 50 and older buyers. Every person over 50 has unique concerns, needs, or circumstances. It would help if you had an SRES® that will work with you as the individual(s) you are, not someone trying to make you fit into what works best for them.

Some considerations to discuss about your next home:

• Do you want an adult (over 55, 62, etc.) community?

• What size home do you need/desire?

• Do you want a structured HOA community, and do you have a budget restriction?

• Do you desire a golf course community?

• What amenities do you want the community to have: pool, exercise area, pickleball, shuffleboard, community center, etc.?

• Do you want to do your own lawn care, exterior, or interior maintenance?

• Do you have pets (or plan to have), and what restrictions does the community have?

• Do you need assistance with daily activities?

• Will you have family living with you?

• Would you like to be near medical facilities, shopping, etc.?

These questions, and others, can be imperative to ensure you make the right move to the right place. You need an SRES® that is knowledgeable of the areas you are seeking and have the experience and information to guide you to make the best decision for your specific needs.
