It’s been a great year for us, and in the E&T business at GMMCO, it was encouraging to see double-digit growth in revenue and profitability in FY2024 compared to FY2023. We need to keep this momentum going. Today, we have an order book exceeding Rs 800 Cr, and we need to execute it well to strengthen our market position further.

The data center market has contributed the most to our growth, and we anticipate this trend to continue for the next 3 to 4 years. Every year, more than 500 MW of backup power requirements are being generated in this segment, and positioning the 2250 to 3500 kVA segment relative to the competition is key to winning in this market. GMMCO is known for impeccable and timely execution, and this will continue to be crucial for securing further projects. In fact, to cater to this requirement, we have established 'Projects' as a separate P&L within the E&T vertical. This gives us a greater focus on execution.

The marine sector has been on an upswing. The Government of India (GOI) has been fortifying the seas and Indian waters through a series of investments by the Indian Navy and Indian Coast Guard. We recently won an order exceeding Rs 400 Cr for NGOPVs. This project will be executed with two shipyards in the country, and we are working diligently to ensure its success. GMMCO’s capabilities as an integrator and in handling the

complexities of marine installations have been crucial in securing this order. We are continuing to collaborate with various shipyards in the region on subsequent projects. We are also exploring repowering opportunities in the market through our expertise in execution.

GMMCO is also involved in several defense and railway projects, demonstrating our capabilities in handling complex projects and on-ground product support requirements.

As we step into the new fiscal year, while we will continue to focus on our strengths, we will also increase our focus on allied businesses. Our partnership with Schneider is strong, and we have increased our business by 40% year-over-year. In the solar sector, we have established ourselves as a credible player with ground-mounted, roof-mounted, and open access options in the market. We have nearly 30 MW of installations and aim to increase installations by a similar amount in FY2025. As a distributor of JLG, the Aerial Work Platform business has also gained a strong foothold in the market.

We ended FY2024 with a strong foothold in the market. The order boards for FY2025 testify to this great start. As we step into the new fiscal year, we will focus on our execution and growth drivers in the DC, Marine, and Allied businesses to secure an even stronger position in the market.

Electric Power Division did well financial year 2023-24  by achieving the business target.

In Large electric Power, we could secure good business opportunities from Data Centre and other segments like Auto Ancillaries, Pharma and Food & Breweries. Carry forwarding good order bag locks of 400 Cr plus to next year. To meet forthcoming emission norms, Caterpillar is ready to o er Low-Emission DG sets from 1500 KVA and above. With our well-established engineering capabilities, we executed multiple turnkey projects with hyper scale industries of above mentioned segments.

In Retail Electric Power, Caterpillar is always being preferred brand in Infrastructure and Hospitality segments due to it’s rugger design, reliability and Gmmco’s unmatched after sales and support. By understanding the customer needs and by educating them, GMMCO converted many orders of 1500 / 2000 KVA rating with 3x500 / 4x600 kva along with Synchronization facility. Recognizing the importance of cost management, many customers are opting for pre-buys to mitigate expenses amidst anticipated CPCB IV+ price escalations.  Gmmco managed the inventory of CPCB II products very well without a ecting market business opportunities.

Gmmco also supply, install and provide after sales and service for natural gas generators, o ering a dependable, clean, and cost-e ective alternative for backup power needs, particularly in industrial se ings requiring prime and continuous clean

FG WILSON BUSINESS

FG Wilson (FGW) originated in the UK and was established in 1966 in Belfast. Caterpillar acquired FGW, making it a wholly-owned subsidiary of Caterpillar, registered in Northern Ireland in 1999.

FGW entered the Indian market in 2015 with the FBA range (<250 KVA). The large-range generators, AEC series (1010 – 2500 KVA), were introduced to the Indian market in 2023. Starting this year, we also plan to explore and participate in the Data Centre business opportunities. Last year, Gmmco completed its first full year of FG Wilson (FGW) business with the new FBA range of products and the launch of the AEC series for the Indian market. The new products and the FGW brand received good acceptance in the marketplace. Being new entrants, claiming a higher price premium was a tough task. The FBA range is fully ready with the new CPCB IV+ qualified products, and the full-scale launch is planned for August 2024.

We had a good start for the FGW business in FY 2024, with a 3 to 4-fold increase through a collaborative approach with the FGW team. Manpower alignment, product launch programs, marketing and brand-building activities, and strategies of alignment with customers and niche markets should help us grow.

Powering Progress: Modernizing India's Naval Fleet: Prestigious Retrofit Project Underway

In a strategic move aimed at bolstering the e iciency and longevity of its naval assets, the Indian Navy has embarked on a groundbreaking retrofit project to convert the propulsion systems of its warships from steam to diesel. Spearheaded by the midlife upgrade program, this initiative promises to revolutionize the operational capabilities of key vessels, starting with a prestigious Brahmaputra-class frigate.

The conversion endeavor, which commenced in early April, marks a pivotal collaboration between the Indian Navy, the government-owned Cochin Shipyard Ltd, Caterpillar, and Gmmco Marine. This ambitious undertaking signifies a departure from traditional steam-powered propulsion systems towards more advanced diesel engines, ushering in a new era of enhanced performance and maintenance support for the naval fleet. Integral to the retrofit project is the adoption of modern technology, with the prestigious frigate slated to be powered by a Caterpillar marine diesel engine boasting an impressive 6-MW power capacity. Gmmco Marine, in consultation with Vedam Design, has meticulously crafted a

comprehensive detailed project report (DPR), providing invaluable technical insights to streamline the retrofi ing process.

This collaborative e ort between experts and naval authorities underscores a proactive approach towards modernization and innovation within the Indian Navy. By leveraging expertise from multiple stakeholders, the retrofit project aims to extend the operational lifespan of the frigate, ensuring its relevance and e ectiveness for over two decades.

Furthermore, the success of this retrofit project paves the way for similar conversions across the Brahmaputra class of ships, with plans underway to transition other frigates in the class to diesel propulsion systems. The forthcoming 'request for proposal' will provide an equitable opportunity for Caterpillar and Gmmco Marine to contribute their expertise, particularly in addressing the high torque engine solution essential for propelling existing fixed pitch propulsion systems.

Propel is a world-class equipment manufacturer that provides innovative, technologically-sound and cost-e ective crushing and screening solutions to the mining and construction industry. Export market demanded technical expertise to couple HRC engine with alternator and placed in kiosk. This power pack must be designed to fit within available space. The power required to meet the transient loading was critical to arrive at right selection of engine. Our first power pack with C7.1205 kw engine to power Jaw crusher has successfully completed technical signo with Propel and ge ing exported to UK for display in exhibition.

Over the four decades, the promotor of the group are involved in manufacturing of construction equipment . Apollo has accelerated their business into underground construction equipment. Today, Apollo is India’s sole Manufacturer of Directional Drills , Mud Pumps & Diaphragm Wall Drilling Rig in India.
