01 RIDE THE WAVE

Orientation Theme Design, Corporate Identity, 2015

HKCC (n.) (/client) 1. It is the 2015 HKCC Orientation Theme & Items Design Competition. 2. The competition aims at promoting positive values among students in HKCC. Based on your proposed theme(s), Theme Logo, Orientation Poster, and Planner were designed.

Ride The Wave (idiom) (/concept) Wave can reflect as the ups and downs of our life. However, it also means the strength and power to conquer the difficulties. The idea of “ride the wave” aims to encourage students to be brave and to trust the rhythms of life. Instead of fighting the current, learning how to ride the wave is the key to succeed your life. There is no fear to fall the ride, but enjoy every moment of your rides. As long as you are willing to ride, the perfect wave is still waiting for you.

(/art direction) Based on the concept of “Ride The Wave”, curve lines are the core element in the whole design. For the logo, different shades of waves illustrated as the flow of waves. Also, the gradient background for the planner and poster illustrates as splendid scenery. It varies and blurs, which showed the uncertainty of people’s life. Indeed, the scenery made the wave reflection, and the rider in the planner and poster is following the direction of the light.

04 MY SLOW LIFE EXPERIMENT

Individual Project, Creative writing, Illustration, Photography, Publication Design, 2015

(n.) (/background) Hong Kong is a fast paced city and time matters to Hong Kong people. They values efficiency the most when it is talking about the living style in Hong Kong, and they have subconsicously followed the city beat of their life. Eventually, it directly affects people’s physical and psychological health. Occasionally, there are people who encouage slow living. Slow living emphasizes in finding an balance between leisure and work and focusing life goals on personal fulfillment and relationship building instead of the all-consuming pursuit of economic success. According to Carl Honore, “be fast when it makes sense to be fast, and be slow when slowness is called for”. He urges people not work fast because it meant to, but find your own pace and feasible way to work it out. Thus, I would like to further introduce the concept of slow life for this project.

(n.) (/objectives) • To reflect users’ life • To illustrate the concept of slow living • To inspire slow living through daily examples • To encourage users to find their own pace of life • To enhance user’s quality of life

The outcome is in between literary journal and guiding book. The mediums includes creative writing, illustration and photography. It insists of four consecutive chapters (self, home, nature and city). The guiding booklets illustrate differnt daily situations and provide different tasks to attempt. The project would like users to record and to reflect their experiment process.

05 COMMA

Hall Book 2016, Publication Design, 2016

JCAC (n.) (/client)

It is the annual hall residence booklet for Jockey Club Academy Hall. COMMA was used as the theme of the JCAC hall book 2016. Unlike the previous year of the JCAC hall book, the design this year is simple yet clean-looking. The repeated letters of the book cover are spotted UV.

06 A DAY IN MONGKOK CITY GUIDE

07 COMMON PRODUCTION ERROR & SOLUTION IN PUBLICATION DESIGN Publication Design, 2014

(n.) (/concept) It was one of the school assignment, and we are required to publish a book based on the title “Common production error & solution in publication design“. I have chosen CYMK as the theme color as well as the halftone background of the book because of the topic content. It was a very good practice to learn to organize information, and to enrich our printing skills.

08 GOOD BACTERIA IS INVISIBLE, BAD BACTERIA IS EVERYWHERE A Study of Bacterial Culture, Poster Design, 2015

(n.) (/concept) This project is a study of bacterial culture through Chinese calligraphy. The posters composited with the term “蕩然無 存”and“無處不在”, which means invisible and everywhere in Chinese idiom. According to the Agar contest winner Mehmet Berkmen, “You always hear it in the context of sickness or disease, yet there is never any mention of how amazing they are”. After studying the topic of bacteria, I have realized that perhaps bacteria is physically invisible to us, but it actually exists everywhere. Indeed, People seldom pay attention on the good bacteria. They concern the harmful effect more when bacteria actually contribute a lot to our living. So, I have used bacterial culture as a platform to activate the “invisible”.

09 GLAFANTASY

Photobook, Photography, 2016

Galafantasy (n.) (/concept

When light shines onto a bubble, it appears to change color. The colors seen in a soap bubble arise from interference of light reflecting in a thin soap film. I would like to use its physicality to see soap bubbles in a macro world. The photo book is a series of macro soap film photography. By using the circle cropping and the varieties of the soap film, it is like a galafantasy world.

13 THE CONVERT GLANCE

Iron, Wood, Acrylic Sheet, Monitor, Cables, Hidden Camera, Imitation Grass, Installation, 30x30cm, 2016

(n.) (/concept)

This project is based on the “look down behavior” of mobile device. Then, I further develop this “look down” behavior from the physicality of the electrionic chargers at CMC. The installation is a conncected device. It is constructed by two ditch covers, while one side is covered with imitation grass and attached with hidden camera, while the other side is placed with monitor. We imitated two unusual ditch covers that would attract audiences to look down in the means of curiosity and surveillance.
