CABELL MOLINA
530 West 25th Street, New York, NY
Cabell Molina dismantles patriarchal mid-20th-century fashion and advertising imagery, reflecting on the female experience in mid-century America. Inspired by her mother’s traditional 1950s ideology, she questions women’s awareness of their oppression and the male-created concept of femininity. Using a “deconstruct and reconstruct” technique, Molina collects vintage materials, paints backgrounds, and assembles pieces on canvases or wood panels, finishing with varnish. A former advertising art director, she studied at San Diego State University and Art Center College of Design. Her work is globally exhibited and was featured in CNN Style and The Cut.
