CHAMM’S
CHAMM’S is a visionary abstract painter from Reunion Island, based in the Normandy region of France. CHAMM’S journey into art began almost involuntarily. In 2011 the artist undertook an initiatic pilgrimage to Stonehenge. Each night after that, drawings would appear in her sleep, which she would then note down on a piece of paper. CHAMM’S soon realized she was acting as a channel for messages she could not yet decipher. Esoteric and primitivelooking symbols, codes, figures, and text–the meaning of which was unknown to her–started free-flowing out of her hands. “My hand moves on its own,” she says. “It took me about ten years to understand I had to pay attention and let my hand draw these lines and forms. I try to channel as best I can, without exerting any control.” Executed in a variety of water-based media, these mediumestic downloads take as little as 10 minutes, resulting in an artistic production that can reach close to 40 paintings a week. “I don’t know what’s inside of them,” she admits. “But I know that the person who will buy the painting will give me the answer.”
CHAMM’S ON
My art goes beyond mere colors and supports; it is a spiritual journey. I create abstract landscapes that embody a unique consciousness and vision, releasing emotions and capturing silenced visual memories.
I have taught myself the language of calligraphy, colors, spirals, and textures, which I blend into a unique aesthetic, inspired by lyrical, geometric, and fractal abstraction, and impressionism. I employ brushes and pencils but also liberate myself from norms, using natural objects as my primary tools and materials.
I consider myself an external observer, rather than a creator. Thus, I exert minimal control over my paintings, letting my hands be the channel of Spirit, in a process akin to automatic or mediumistic painting. As I paint, symbols and heartfelt messages organically emerge, weaving narratives that speak directly to the recipient of the piece. Each work is a visual and energetic message to someone’s heart, facilitating their path to healing and wider spiritual awareness.
