JULIE RAMI
530 West 25th Street, New York, NY
Born in France and educated at Ecole Boulle, Julie Rami’s artistic journey has been shaped by personal experiences and a deep connection to the world of games. Her background working for a board game company infuses her artwork with a distinct sense of playfulness and a desire to break free from societal norms.
Her distinctively “Bokeh” technique in oil paintings is attracting attention and has a dreamlike quality. With influences ranging from Charlie Chaplin to Pop Art, Rami’s work transports viewers into a world where imagination and emotion take center stage.
She captures the essence of human emotion and the imagination of the body, breaking free from conventional boundaries. Rami’s desire is for visitors to her exhibitions to experience a surge of oxygen, enveloped in a sweet-scented atmosphere that elicits a range of emotions.
I paint in oil on wood. My pictorial technique that I call “Bokeh” (Japanese word meaning blur in photography) allows me to give a dreamlike pop style to the initial image.
Like the impressionist in his time, my paintings are only composed of colored bubbles which reflect more a singular feeling than a detailed description of the scene. Through my figurative art, I use paint to create a smooth, soft and comfortable piece of art.
