Austrian artist Laura Koller’s canvases dance with chromatic, transparent shapes. Each form possesses a lava-like quality, molding into, under or above its neighbor. Koller points to travel as her primary source of inspiration; the sum of fresh landscapes, faces and conversations, a definite fuel for new considerations. The artist previously made works in black and white featuring black ink liner. Upon her time in Italy, she found the allure in oil pastels and colors–illustrating combinations of architecture and nature, portraits of sitters, but after recently moving to Greece, she altered her norm again. These abstract pieces she’s now committed to are concocted by acrylic, mixed media and Koller’s skillfulness. She identifies most with contemporary art and Expressionism, with odes to the art movement peeking from her work, emblematic of how she sees and feels things surrounding her. “Art tells what I can’t express with words,” Koller says. “Art speaks in another way.”
Koller is a Creative Trainer for children and has a degree in Graphic Design, specializing in Print Media. In 2018, she participated in her first solo exhibition at the Garden of Secrets in Austria. There she sold three works and had numerous positive encounters, which she marks as one of her most gratifying moments as an artist.

If I were a color, I would be a shade of blue. The color blue stands for feelings, longing and trust, vastness and depth. Travel and encounters with people are my greatest source of inspiration and two important components of my life.
When I travel I can be myself fully and open my heart to new landscapes to be discovered. I believe that my mission is to communicate the depth of my emotions through my work with my art and touch people’s souls.
