MIKI H A T A N O
530 West 25th Street, New York, NY
Japanese artist Miki Hatano pursues themes of nature, paradise, and power in their artwork. The artist studied design in Tokyo and has been painting since 2013. Mainly working with acrylic paints, Miki creates brightly colored artworks. Natural fluxes of energy are of primary focus in Miki’s paintings which depict moments of relaxation, exuberance, and excitement. By painting sunsets and bodies of water Miki is able to convey shifts of energy, movement, and changes of nature all within a single frame. Miki’s artwork often features portraiture of aquatic animals or beach scenes. As a frequent traveler, the artist is especially inspired by Hawaiian culture and with a keen appreciation of natural environments, the artist uses color pallets observed during their travels. Organic forms found in landscapes, such as flora and fauna are complemented by the use of geometric patterns and shapes, creating frames and a collage effect to each painting. Miki is an artist represented by Agora Gallery whose works have been exhibited internationally.

Since I began painting in 2013, I have explored the themes of nature, paradise, and power among my works. I am greatly energized by these ideas, and I attempt to convey their effect on the human experience. Colors are the most important aspect for me in my work. We all encounter intense colors in our daily lives, and color has the power to control and manipulate our feelings and experiences. So, as I continue painting, I strive to convey the intensities within our experiences with brilliant colors, including passions, energies, and emotions.
