MIME GIRAUDI
530 West 25th Street, New York, NY
Ximena Giraudi paints vast canvases that examine themes of personal identity and the complexities of living in a globalized world. Her free-flowing abstractions lend expensiveness and openness to the exploration of new ideas and experiences. By rejecting the constraints of figuration, the artist harnesses the power of color and texture, stirring the viewer with dynamic and emotive compositions. The approach, however, is directional. Giraudi sets out with a clear vision in mind, defining the overarching structure of the piece. Breaking down the walls of spatiality, she harmonizes verticals and horizontals, curves and gyrations with ample monochromatic fields, which build striking, cohesive storytelling. Giraudi seeks out the visceral with “a mandate of absolute sincerity,” true to her sense of self, as an artist and woman.
Giraudi began to paint in 2005 and trained at the private workshop of Argentine painter Luis Altieri. She lives in Argentina with her family, where she runs her own fine art content agency.
MIME GIRAUDI ONI make large-scale expressionist paintings that release self-imposed clichés and break free from the programmed maps and models of realistic depiction. Like Informalism, my art centers my personal searches on the graphic sign (a line or stain) as well as matter. I affirm the materiality of the painting as a surface, rejecting all illusionism in terms of perspective and representation of reality, other than my own line or material. My artwork is highly expressive, often incorporating bold colors and dynamic textures to create powerful and emotive compositions. I explore a range of themes, from personal identity to the complexities of living in a globalized world, while embracing the freedom of abstraction to express these topics in an open and creative way. I seek to challenge and inspire viewers to explore their own ideas and experiences.
