UP-FRONT POWER.
A top-class combine harvester must also be able to prove its worth under difficult harvesting conditions. The high-performance 56 series cutter bars, offering supreme performance and exemplary functional safety are really impressive, especially with laid grain and in difficult harvesting conditions. The DEUTZ-FAHR level control also ensures constant cutter bar positioning on uneven ground. This means considerable stress relief for the driver. The cutter bar with AUTOCONTROL system is sensitively and precisely controlled right up to 7.20 m wide. Cutting height, side slope and contact pressure are constantly adjusted on uneven ground. You get a perfect cut at all times. The DEUTZ-FAHR planetary drive cutting system runs precisely resulting in very little wear; the smooth running knife has a high cutting frequency (1,220 cuts/min) doing its job effortlessly and quietly. Enhancing the efficiency even further, is our unique “tandem cutting system�, a double cutting action with alternately positioned knife sections that ensure exact, obstruction-free cutting. The large diameter, 6-bar pickup reel, fitted with flexible poly-tines, has an infinitely variable drive that can be set to automatically adapt its speed to the travelling speed. The 610 mm diameter feed auger with retractable fingers, spirally arranged throughout the entire width, powerfully and efficiently transports the crop to the feed elevator eliminating blockage.

The central cutter bar lock and multi-coupling, as well as the electrical reversing feature, are standard on these combine harvesters. The electro-hydraulic cutting angle adjustment feature, available on request, facilitates assembly and dismantling and guarantees optimum cutter bar positioning.

DEUTZ-FAHR offers the optimum equipment version for all crops with the 56 series, whether cereals, maize, sunflower, rapeseed or other special crops. Harvest Maize and CCM reliably and gently. With the 4 to 8 row maize pickers the new DEUTZ-FAHR combine harvesters achieve impressive harvesting performances. The necessary adjustments in the threshing unit and sieve box are made simply and quickly. The flat divider design ensures that even badly lodged maize is cleanly picked up; the corn cobs are reliably separated and gently threshed by the 600 mm diameter threshing drum.
The maize cutter attachments have very low power requirements and a particularly flat design.
Quality separation of small grains. Only a few adjustments are required to switchover from grain to rapeseed. Simply fit the rapeseed attachment, establish the connections, fit the V-belt, and you’re ready for operation. With the 65 cm table extension and the possible mounting of vertical side knives at each end, both standing and flattened rape seed is evenly gathered without obstruction. Even threshing beans is possible without losses with our rapeseed attachment. When harvesting rapeseed the table extension and the vertical side knife reliably prevent grain loss.

Safely harvesting sunflowers For sunflowers we fit special "shuttles" to ensure precise separation of the sunflower heads; a smooth roller in front of the infeed auger and an aggressive roller under the cutter bar, allows high speed, heads only, harvesting.
The special sunflower attachment only harvests the heads, thereby considerably increasing output.

AUTOCONTROL precisely adjusts the lateral positioning and height of the cutter bar - for exact stubble height and the best infeed of laid grain.
In hilly terrain the BALANCE technology ensures a threshing performance and quality equal to that achieved during harvesting on flat ground. Electronic sensors, acting as a "spirit level" detect the current combine inclination and immediately pass on the correct control signals to the hydraulic system. The DEUTZFAHR BALANCE combine harvesters maintain their full performance - also with lateral inclinations of up to 20% as well as uphill and downhill slopes of up to 6%.
Horizontal at the touch of a button. The BALANCE function is activated at the touch of a button. In automatic mode the combine harvester always automatically selfadjusts to a fully horizontal position - which means constant, high throughput capacities, also on slopes. The equal weight distribution on the driving wheels provides the combine harvester with optimum power transmission in all situations and additionally prevents it from drifting sideways.

Grain tank fully utilised. Threshing units, walkers and cleaning units can process the crops equally over the entire width and thus achieve an impressively high throughput. With BALANCE, even the 8,500 litres grain tank is filled into the last corner on sloping ground and the driver is able to enjoy the same standard of comfort as on flat ground.

The 56 series combine harvesters feature a modern, high performance top class threshing system. Robust and reliable, with an aggressive throughput and gentle grain separation – they meet the highest demands for grain quality. The threshing drum drive was designed for high loads. The automatic torque-controlled V-belt tension ensures full power is possible at all times. With the electrically adjustable threshing drum variator speeds ranging from 420 to 1,250 rpm can be selected at the touch of a button. For sensitive special crops we offer an optional reduction box giving speeds from 210 to 625 rpm. The large dimensions of the concave achieve a long, gentle threshing path with maximum grain separation. The electrically controlled, independent concave inlet and outlet adjustment ensures the most favourable threshing gap is set for each type of crop. A full-width concave access hatch ensures fast removal of any obstructions. Crops, which are difficult to deawn, rub out or de-husk, can be processed with the de-awner bars, which are pushed in from the outside. The large concave wrap angle of 121 degrees, with its 15 rubbing bars provides a huge concave separating area of 0.92 m2 or 1.13 m2. This means almost complete grain separation with an exemplary low straw content. Turbo-separator for maximum performance. The turbo-separator permits threshing at an undiminished working speed - even with green, heavy wet straw, second growth and a high weed content. This third drum increases the throughput by up to 20%. Large scale walkers. The five or six large walkers ensure top grain separation efficiency with a throughput width of 1.27 or 1.52m and a walker area of up to 7.60m2.

Cleaning as fast as the wind. The large-dimensioned step floor with two air-blast chutes is separated into divisions that can be pulled out for cleaning and maintenance purposes. The high divisions ensure best harvesting results, also on slopes. The large opposed-action sieves with a total area of up to 6.32m2 impressively underline the cleaning efficiency.
The high-performance from the 44-blade cross-flow fan, guarantees uniform ventilation of the whole sieve box. The air is taken in throughout the entire width, and the airflow can be infinitely varied with the electrical cleaning air adjustment feature. The grain is threshed down to the last ear by friction rubbing strips in both returns elevators and then thrown directly on to the preparation floor. This reduces the load on both concave and walkers. 11

The straw chopper - permanently integrated and easy to operate.
The integrated DEUTZ-FAHR straw chopper, for example, is switched on and off from the cab and spreads the straw evenly over the full working width. Switching from chopping to windrowing is performed with one hand movement. The opposing blades can be centrally moved in and out, permitting fast adaptation to the widest range of crops. With the gentle threshing technology, an optimum straw quality is achieved leaving the windrowed straw in excellent condition for further processing.

Optimum engine characteristics and sufficient power reserves are the DEUTZFAHR recipe for success in tough harvesting conditions in dust and at extreme temperatures. Liquid-cooled with tremendous power. The newly developed, liquid-cooled DEUTZ engines in the 5680 and 5690 have a tremendous power potential and consistently maintain their high performance. The low specific fuel consumption reduces running costs to a gratifyingly low level for many years.

The newly developed “CommanderCab” III offers a unique driving experience. You will feel right at home using the integrated armrest controls on the air-sprung comfort seat. The “CommanderStick” combines all driving functions and complete cutting table control in one central unit. The main drives for the cutting table, threshing unit and unloading auger can be simply operated with buttons on the “CommanderControl”. All operating elements, such as switching and monitoring instruments, are logically arranged and are easily accessible and easy to operate. Additionally they are illuminated for working at night. Pleasantly quiet. The “CommanderCab” III is supported on flexible anti-vibration and anti-oscillation 4-point bearings. Regular servicing and maintenance checks are performed simply and quickly. The large, wide-opening side panels are opened with one easy movement assisted by gas support struts. All drive elements and service points are immediately exposed and easily accessible. The simple and logical drive design facilitates routine checks.
