Taste Of Space The Secret Recipe Of Architecture

About Us Notation Studio For this semester we are required to create a notation out of four pictures of our choice. We can choose from anything but mostly related to ourselves which eventually shows our characteristics in thinking and designing architecture. The chosen pictures are given a title that represents our perspective when we read the pictures and how we interpret the message of the picture. We then tried to connect the interpretation and convert them into architecture realated ideas and thoughts that would help us create a new theory of designing architecture. In the end we compile all the projects into a notation book.

YOU CAN GET SOFT BOILED EGG, HARD BOILED EGG, POACHED EGG, SCRAMBLED EGG, FRIED EGG AND ETCETERA. THE STATE OF EGG CHANGES ACCORDINGLY TO THE COOKING TIME. 9

THEORY

HOW DO WE CREATE A SPACE THAT CHANGES ALONG WITH TIME?

10

PROCESS

Guide Of Time In this project light were used to lead people into the space . Studies models were made to find out how the sunlight changes within the day and the prossible ways to change people's choice of path when they enter the building at different time. For example the the shadows created by the arch leads people to the left while people from the opposite direction behind the high wall will search for light and follow the curved path to look for exit or another entrance. By creating a gap between the wall and ceiling, or the wall and the floor creates a beam of light that leads people to follow along the path of light.

An egg already played a symbolic role in the Egyptian myth of Creation. Romans used eggs as a burial offering. The custom of giving eggs as gifts continues today, especially at Easter, the celebration of resurrection and the awakening of nature. An egg became a symbol of life because it encloses nascent life to emerge from it. It embodies the idea of rebirth and rejuvenation in the cycle of life, reflected also in its shape, with neither beginning nor end. The program for this space a church of seven doors. It has 7 confession rooms for the visitor to explore. Confession room is a place where people are reborn and thus its like an egg, it represents a cycle of new life. They will end up in different confession room when they visit the building at different hours. They will meet different strangers everytime. When they confess, they can only hear the voice of the other person but they cannot see his or her face. They remain anonymity when they talk about their daily life or the sins they have done. When they are done confessing, they will come out of the room and leave the church using another path and they become strangers again but they are both reborn. This project has no particular site. It may be places in the middle of a busy town, for example

Sometimes you see his shadow and sometimes you can only hear his voice.

The tower in the middle acts as a sundial and constantly changes the light and shadow of the church. You might not find the way you came in because of the difference.

Follow the light or embrace the darkness? The repetiting arch points out a direction for the visitor.

17

When a person is at the top of the tower, he cansee his shadow as the sun is so bring up in the sky. They might start a conversation ot they might just sit there and do nothing because its too hot.

18

“Here we are, trapped in the amber of the moment. There is no why.” ― ---Kurt Vonnegut

When you're inside the church, you're trapped in time. You can feel the time goes by because of the sunlight.

We are so close yet so far I can see you silhouette I can hear your voice but I can't see your face I might know your darkest secret but I don't know who you are We might walk pass each other later but I wouldn't know that it was you

Science of baking The proces of baking is very fascinating as it requires a precise amount of ingredient using specific method and baked under right amount of time to get the perfect results. During the process of baking the yeast in the bread realeases carbon dioxide and it is captured by the gluten film of the bread. This causes the bread to expand in the oven under high temperature. When the bread is taken out of the oven it cools down and the gases is releases into the air but the hardened gluten film remains its shaped and air pocket is formed. Thus we are able to have light and fluffy bread!

Materialising Temperature

Models that show that the trace of temperature on different materials like glass, metal, plastic, and brick. It also shows the flow of temperature when hot air meets cold air

The curved roof connecting to floor allows the steam to condense and flow back into the warm bath. The material reflects light into the pool therefore there are enough lighting in the bath house. The building is powered by the heat generated from burning the logs collected from the forrest. The heat is used to warm up the water, for the sauna and for baking. The metal floor allows the visitor to feel the transition of temmperature from hot to cold as he walks to the cold pool. The glass wall in the bread factory fogs up when the breads are being baked. People will know if there are freshly baked breads.

Bread Bath and Bodywor

This project has an unique shape that allows the cold wind in the mountain to enter the building. The cold pool is placed on a a higher ground to receive the cold air and create a colling space for the visitors. The bread factory is a micture of hot and cold air. When the oven is baking the hot air releases to the air through the chimney and the exchange of air happens. Cold air is brought into the bread factory to cool down the bread when hot air rises from the chimney.

The other activities that is powered by the excess heat fenerated by the burning of wood logs. The water of the hot pool is heated up by the metal curve that is connected to the oven and the base of the pool. Heat is transferred to the pool when the bread is baking. The sauna below the oven is covered by sand and it received the heat from the oven. Visitors can lie in it and feel the heat transfers through air. The rock sauna below the bread factory releases steam when water is poured over the rocks. The steam created is used to proof the bread, for the yeast to grow under a certain temperature before it is good enought to bake in the oven.

35

The shape of the roof on the other side as an wide opening to allow the cold wind to enter and the exchange of air happens when the hot air rise from the chimney. This creates a cooling sensation for the visitor at the cold pool and for the pastry chefs that are working in the factory.

36

The metal flooring allows the visitor to feel the transition of heat from hot to cold as he walks towards the cold pool. The glass ceiling underneath it fogs up when the bread is baking and thus we know that the temperature of the space below is high.

The art of coffee brewing The perfect cup of coffee is that which give you the taste, aroma and flavor that you prefer. You can use any brewing method but use it in a way that it extracts the desired components that make coffee a widely preferred drink. If you are looking at some level of perfection in the drink that you are so fond of, it is imperative that you acquaint yourself with the art of brewing coffee to achieve the desired aroma and taste. Coffee brewing is an art and a science in its own right. The six basic methods of brewing coffee are basically a mode of arriving at the desired permutation and combination of the variables, such as, temperature, water addition, and the separation of the brewed liquor from the coffee sediments that settle at the bottom. Coffee has a variety of recipes, with milk you'll get latte, with less water you'll get espresso, with chocolalte you'll get mocha. The reason i like americano so much is that you can really taste the flavour of the coffee beans.

in hot water, hundreds of unique compounds are extracted from the ground beans – creating brewed coffee

The site is a community workshop placed in Taipei city. It is a corner space that is used to carry out neighbourhood activities.

The elements of architecture is like the residue of coffee beans in the coffee. You don't have to see the whole thing to know that it was a cup of coffee. By looking at the frames ,you'll get a perspective of a space. The elements or arcchitecture is the most important thing that represents a space instead of four walls. A space exists with or without wall.
