About the author F

or one reason or another, I have been involved in the credit industry for most of my professional life. It started as one of my very first jobs, working for the nation’s largest credit repair law firm as a sales rep and then a sales manager. After seeing the great negative impact inaccurate credit reporting had on the lives of millions, I began to teach myself how to repair credit. Thankfully, I had hundreds of resources, consultants, and mentors all around the nation, most of whom had been repairing credit since the early 90s. I also saw the injustice that occurs when a then small, growing company purposefully cuts corners to increase profits and does so at the expense of their customers. Since then, and for over a decade now, I have worked on thousands of people’s credit reports and have literally seen thousands of items get removed - and not just removed, but removed fast! As a result of this exact credit repair process, I have seen my clients buy homes, cars, boats; get funding for their business; get out of severe debts; I’ve even seen marriages and relationships saved. From that point on, I was resolute in my determination to teach what I had discovered to the people. It is time that someone removed the façade, revealed the mysteries behind credit repair, and taught people the simple tips needed to

get better, and faster, results than all of the self-proclaimed “Credit Repair Law Firms” out there. Having good credit is absolutely essential for financial success—but figuring out how to improve your credit can be confusing and even frustrating. So we created The Credit Repair Kit to help clear up that confusion and provide you with realistic and proven ways to take control of your credit. Please follow this method from start to finish, step by step. And do not skip ahead, or you risk missing a key element that could be the decisive factor in your success or failure. Make sure you are well organized. I recommend file folders, and keeping reminders on your cell phone for very important cutoff dates. Keeping track of who got what, and who replied or didn’t, is essential. What you are about to learn is extremely effective, and can be used for “bad”, if it gets in the wrong hands. Please promise me, that after your credit is fixed, you will NOT go back into your old bad habits.

Cut/Paste the Collections, Credit Bureaus, Creditors, and Inquiries folders into your Name folder So, here’s your name folder:

Save the “Letter Templates” folder to your desktop Spin the language of these templates so each one it is at least 70% original I like to use http://www.thesaurus.com/ for this. Look up every other word or so and put in a synonym, change the order of the words around. Paraphrase some of the more casual language in the letter to make it yours. Do not change the CDIA, FCRA, FDCPA parts, or the words “correct” or “delete”, or the report data you’ve merged in, just change some of the filler words and add in something you might say instead. This will allow you to not rely on a template letter that has been used many times before, you can start off with something that is purely original. Here I am looking for a synonym for the word “investigate”:

STEP # 2 Write your date & footer in Word Open up your Word Processing program and write today’s date at the top, and then below write your footer which includes your First Name, Last Name, Last Four of your Social Security Number, Street (don’t forget Apt/Unit #), City, State, and Zip. It should look like this:

Now each of your unique letter templates in the Round 1 folder for Collections, Credit Bureau (Equifax, Experian, TransUnion) Creditor, and Inquiries should all have today’s date at the top, and your contact information in the footer.

Above, you can clearly see the Inquiry Date (Inquiry Account Date on Template), and Inquirer (Inquiry Account Name on Template) For “Inquiry Name” on the spreadsheet, this is a salutation like “Dear Green Ford,” so you may need to search the name of the Inquirer in Google to get their exact name. Here’s an example of DSMI/Green Ford Inquiry filled out on the Negative Item Template:

If there are multiple dates just include them in the #.2-#.5 sections like so:

You’ll do the same for Collections, and Creditor (Non-Collection) sections For Collections, Collection Type is just “Collection”. This is often found in the “Account Type” section of the credit report item.

Collection Agency is the salutation you will be using so for example METRO COLLECTION SVC. You will google that to find their name is “Metro Collection Services, Inc.:

For account name, this would be in the Account or Account Name section of the credit report (usually in all CAPS). In this case, it would be either “METRO COLL” or “METRO COLLECTION SVC”.

For account number, this is in the Account Number section of the credit report:

Fill in Item type, agency name, account name, account number for all Collections/Creditor Items For Creditors, you will want to fill in Account Type by what kind of negative item it is: Auto, Mortgage, Retail Credit Card, Non Retail Credit Card, Loan Financing, Student Loan, or Utility Here’s an example of where to find Account Type: (Auto Loan in this case)

Now, we’ll fill in the Dispute Reasons in the Template for each negative item you wish to dispute. Notice these are divided by bureau as Columns on the Negative Item Template:

Open up “Dispute Reasons” spreadsheet These contain all of the e-Oscar dispute reasons and are all of the legitimate reasons you can dispute items on your credit reports.

Keep in mind this is the same negative item being reported 3 different times by 3 different bureaus who don’t share records with each other. Each item should be reported exactly the same in each of the 3 columns. Some of the most common potential inaccuracies you may see on your reports: 1. “The payment history profile is incorrect”, those will have NA or ND in the calendar below each item:

Go through the Dispute Reasons list and carefully analyze each negative item for 100% completeness and accuracy. If you find something missing or wrong, look for and choose the appropriate reason from the list. Obviously, if it isn’t yours or looks suspicious then choose “This account is not mine” or something more specific like the dispute reason “I was a victim of identity theft and account was fraudulently opened”.

Choose a generic reason of your choosing if no error is present Generic dispute reasons include: This account is unverifiable, this account is incomplete, this account is inaccurate, or this account is not mine.

Add these dispute reasons next to each negative item in the Negative Item Template based on the information from each bureau: TransUnion, Equifax, Experian Once you are done, you should have something that looks like this next to each negative item: (Note: You will not need to list dispute reason for inquiries)

STEP # 4 Insert items into the letter templates for Round 1 I usually send the first 3 letters without these dispute reasons and just ask the bureaus to “verify” the negative items. That way I’m not “confirming” nor “denying” these items are mine, and in doing so I am not really “disputing” anything, just simply asking for verification of the items. Usually by month 4-12 I will reference the Negative Item Spreadsheet for added ammunition and start including the actual dispute reasons according to bureau. Based on your personal preference and needs, feel free to include these dispute reasons as quickly as you feel will help your unique situation. Here’s a sample finished letter:

Save As.. creditor/collection/credit bureau name Immediately after inserting the negative information, save the letter by clicking “Save As…” and rename it to whoever you are addressing the letter to. This could be “Optimum Credit Outcomes, Inc” or “TransUnion” Just make sure to “Save As…” and not just “Save”, since “Save” will overwrite each previous template and you will lose your changes each time. You will want a new letter for each individual credit bureau, creditor and collection agency Here’s what my Collections folder looks like now:

Go back and verify all the data merged properly for all Round 1 letters This is important, because you want all these letters to look original and make sure everything merged properly and is directed towards the right recipient. Obtain creditor/collection agency fax #s Credit Bureau fax numbers are provided. But you will need to find the Creditor/Collection Agency fax numbers. 1. To do this, first go to http://www.acainternational.org/memberdirectory.aspx and search for the creditor/collection agency’s name for their fax number:

3. If you still cannot find it, open Google and search “{Creditor/Collection Agency Name} + fax number and once the page pulls up hit “control + f” and type in “fax”:

Using these 3 methods you should be able to find 90% of the fax numbers. Ones you cannot find you will need to actually call them to get. For collection agencies I’ll usually call them and say: “Hi, how are you? I’m trying to send over a power of attorney to make a payment on behalf of one of my clients. What is your fax number so I can send that to you guys?” …if they ask who you are with, just say “I actually cannot disclose that information. Do you guys want to get paid or not?” For everyone else I’ll say “Hi, how are you? I am trying to fax something over but not sure if it’s going through, I have your fax number as (make up a number). Is that right?” The secretary or whoever answers will usually be really quick, and more than happy to correct you and provide you with the right fax number(s). (If you can get more than 1 fax number, get it! Nothing like disputing an item and having it come out of all their fax machines)

STEP # 5 Sign up for an email to fax service Go to www.mycreditdefender.com/fax to sign up for an email to fax service Email to fax your letters You will get an email from them on how to send faxes and a unique email to send to that will deliver your faxes. Here is an example of me sending out an email to fax:

Add letter/relevant image as attachments, fax numbers (in body) ***For Credit Bureaus Only: Be sure to attach a copy of your Driver’s License and Social Security Card to the Credit Bureau (TransUnion, Equifax and Experian) faxes*** If not, you might be a credit bureau stall letter (see p. 37 of the Section: Getting letters back) Just like this. Here is one for a Creditor:

You will attach the appropriate image from the folder “CDIA Images” based on Account Type. Account Type will fall into one of these categories: Auto Loan, Collection, Credit Card (Retail), Credit Card (Non-Retail), Loan Financing, Mortgage, Student Loan, Utility. Examples of Non-Retail Credit Cards include: all Banks, Credit Unions, etc. Examples of Retail Credit Cards include: Macy’s, Fingerhut, JC Penny, American Eagle, etc. Examples of Loan Financing include: Payday loans, Title loans, Business loans, Bank loans, etc. Examples of Utility include: Gas, Electric, Cell Phones, etc. Examples of Auto loan include: anything related to auto/motor/vehicles Examples of Student loan include: anything related to education •

Send out all letters for Credit Bureaus for TransUnion, Experian & Equifax, using the fax numbers provided.

Send out all the letters for the Creditor/Collection Agencies and Inquires using the fax numbers you have obtained

If you still were unable to find a fax number, you will need to print/mail the letter

STEP # 6 Once finished add a Google Calendar Event Open Google Calendar, double click on today’s date and create a New Event

Call the event “Send Letters Out” Click the box “Repeat…” and select “5 weeks”

Click “Done” and then “SAVE” You will now have a reminder every 5 weeks to send out the next Round of letters

STEP # 7 Get letters back According to the FCRA, the Credit Bureaus, Creditors, and Collection Agencies have only 30 days to conduct their investigation every time you dispute something or request validation. You will be getting letters back because of the letters you just faxed out. These will be anything that looks vaguely credit related. DO NOT THROW THEM OUT by accident. They might even look like bills, but make sure to open, read them, and save a copy to your computer. As soon as you get these letters, take a picture with your phone and email them to yourself or scan/save them and put them in a new folder in your Name folder called “Letters Back”. Save these letters as “Who Sent it” and “Date Received” and “What it says” so “Chase_10.17.15_Deletion.png” or “TransUnion_10.17.15_Stall Letter1.jpg” just to stay organized Read them! Stall, Deleted, Verified, Updated Read these letters! I know it’s painful but read them and do your best to make sense of what they are saying. Usually it will be 1 of 4 Statuses: Deleted, Verified, Updated, or Stall Letter. Here are some examples of letters back. This is one from TransUnion:

Now, you may get a stall letter from the bureaus, this is normal so do not be upset if this happens. Here’s what one common stall letter looks look like from Experian:

Again, this is a normal letter to receive. Keep in mind, you are disputing this item and not someone else, and you attached your 2 proof of identity documents. So just if you do get them, ignore these letters and continue with your next round of disputes. Update Dispute Status in “Negative Item Template� This status will usually be either Deleted, Updated, Verified, or Stall Letter Color code each based on Status, and add more information next to each based on who responded and what occurred: Just like this:

That way you can update each item every month and keep track of the current status of each dispute If a bureau or creditor/collection agency fails to respond in 30 days, be sure to add that as a dispute reason and include that as an attachment in subsequent letters you send to them. Take a screenshot of the confirmation email that proves you sent out the fax when you did and a screenshot of the letter you received back. Circle the dates and make it a point they missed the 30 day deadline!

STEP # 8 Copy all letters into Round 2 folders Copy/paste all of the previous month’s letters into the Round 2 folder of Creditor, Collections, Credit Bureau (TransUnion, Equifax, Experian), and Inquiries. If you are disputing everything every month you will not need to change the negative items (unless you have had some deletions) If you are doing x items at a time, just go to the Negative Item Template and merge in those x new items to the letter templates Change dates to reflect today’s date (the date you will be sending the letters) Change the text language using synonyms, re-wording (esp. credit bureaus) Again, use http://www.thesaurus.com and your own paraphrasing adding/taking away to make these letters 70% original. Remember to keep all of the legal language referencing the CDIA, FCRA, FDCPA, etc. just change the wording in between.
