Turkey Stories

by Mrs. Manning’s Second Grade Class 2013-2014


Alex and Donell were getting ready for Thanksgiving. Alex needed a Thanksgiving turkey. He went outside and heard an airplane. He looked in the sky to see the airplane. “I found him!�. He was in the sky. Alex was looking with his binoculars and spotted the Thanksgiving turkey. The turkey kept going high. He put out turkey feed and hid behind a big rock. The turkey came down and started eating the food. Donell ran and got the turkey. He dragged the turkey home, but the turkey freed himself. The turkey started to fly, but Donell jumped on him . Alex came to help Donell. They both dragged him home to put the turkey on the stove.

Alex


It was 3 days away from Thanksgiving. Mommy and Aunt Netta were cooking. Daddy and Brianna were getting the turkey. Monacha was making dessert. Savon was bringing out the games. Angel was getting Eric ready to get dressed. Ms. J was decorating the house. Daddy and Brianna were in the woods. They heard “ gobble gobble“ sounds. Brianna said, “I’ll look in the pumpkin patch dad”. Then she screamed. My dad ran where she was. They looked for a while. Suddenly a gobble gobble sound was behind him. He looked behind the pumpkin. The turkey jumped right in front of him. It’s a turkey a turkey! They went home happy. They got a turkey and had a good Thanksgiving.

Angel


Alex had a net. Vanessa had a gun. Brendan had a bow and arrow. They went to get turkey for Thanksgiving. They went in the woods. Alex heard a gobble gobble. Alex said “Shhh! I heard something.� They saw a flower. It looked fat and there was a wobbler hanging on a flower. They thought it was unusual . They had not sees a wobbler on flower before . Then the flower ran. Alex chased it and Brendan was behind him . He stopped and pointed his bow and arrow at the turkey and shot it. They took it to their cabin and ate it for Thanksgiving dinner.

Bailey


One day my dad went out to get a turkey. My mom was cooking lunch for the family. I was inside helping my mom. While she cooked me, Brian, and Noah decided to help my dad get a turkey. We put on our jackets . We were going out to the woods to help my dad catch a turkey. We heard a gobble so we went to see what it was. It was my dad making turkey noises. “Wait,” I said, “I really heard a gobble”. We went to see what it was. We didn't see anything so we gave up. I said I heard something again. Then the turkey ran. My turkey ran to a bush. Than my dad saw him move. The turkey was so scared. It could not move. We actually caught the turkey. So, we went back home. We showed mom what we caught. Then she started cooking and we had a big feast.

Brendan


It was Thanksgiving morning, I saw a turkey in the garden. He ran in the woods so we could not get him. He was hiding as Flash. He went into a house in the woods. I went into the house and I saw Flash. I could not believe my eyes. I saw a super hero not a turkey. Then I remembered the turkey was disguised as Flash. I tried to catch him but he was too fast. I told Flash I will get him next year and cook him for Thanksgiving dinner.

Brian


It was the morning of thanksgiving. Mrs. Myanna was cooking, but Vanessa was sad because she didn’t have a turkey. So Mr. Alex went to find a turkey for Vanessa . Then Mrs. Miyanna gave Vanessa soup. Mr. Alex came back home without a turkey . Later Miyanna was washing the dishes. She looked out the window and saw a turkey in the rocks. She called Mr. Alex . But it was too late, the turkey was gone. Mr. Alex went back to the forest . He felt sad for Vanessa . Then Mr. Alex heard a noise. It sounded like this: gobble gobble . It was a turkey! It was a turkey! It was by the rocks. He finally caught a turkey. Mrs. Miyanna cooked the turkey for the family.

Briana


It was a bright and sunny day on Thanksgiving. My mom was cooking. My dad went to the bed room to get his warm clothes. He was going out to find a turkey in the woods. My sister Amber was helping my mom and my other sister Jacquetta was helping me get the table set. Dad was in the woods. He is looking for a turkey. He saw balloons at a cabin. He could here them singing happy birthday. He saw a big pile of confetti. He saw it move. He ran to it. The confetti came off. He saw a big turkey. He ran and caught the turkey. After dad came in mom saw the turkey. It amazed her. We ate some of the good food and everyone loved it. We played fun games and we enjoyed other. I love Thanksgiving.

Charity


Aunt Alison said, “I can’t wait till Thanksgiving.” Uncle Henry tried to find a turkey to eat. Uncle Henry put on his mittens and scarf and boots . He went to the woods. Aunt Alison was worried because he might get lost . Uncle Henry saw a turkey hidden behind a big pile of fall leaves. Aunt Alison went outside and waited. Just then Jack bumped into Uncle Henry. They were best friends in middle school. The turkey was still there. He walked slowly. Jack turned around . The turkey was right there . Jack got him and they ran back to the house. They cooked the turkey and ate Thanksgiving at Aunt Alison and Uncle Henry’s house. All of them had corn, yams, beans, macaroni and cheese, and turkey. They had a great thanksgiving.

Dasir


It was the day before Thanksgiving. Me and Auston thought we needed a turkey. My dad said he will get one today. Now it is 10:00 and no turkey. Now it is 11:00 and he goes to get it. He is still in the woods. My dad called my mom. He said he saw something move. Then he thought it was snow. It moved again. It was so cold he shivered. He went to the snow and picked it up. Out went the turkey. He jumped out without him knowing. Then he saw him. He ran as fast as he could and tried to get him. He thought he got him but he did not get the turkey. We still had a wonderful feast with out him.

Diana


Once there was a little house that was about to have a Thanksgiving party and Mrs. Lawson didn’t have a turkey. Mr. Lawson was getting dressed for the Thanksgiving party. Mrs. Lawson was sad because she didn’t get turkey. She told Mr. Lawson to go and get a turkey. Mr. Lawson went in the woods. As he was looking for a turkey he saw a peacock. How could a peacock be in the woods? It came closer. The face looked like a turkey. He snuck on it . He shot it and saw that was a turkey. He carried the turkey home and Mr. Lawson eat the turkey with his family.

Donell


It was early fall and mom was setting up the Thanksgiving table. Dad went hunting for a turkey. It was Lily and Ivan’s favorite meal. Then dad put on his boots, coat, hat, scarf and gloves. Dad got his gun and went to the woods. When dad got to the woods he listen for the turkey but he didn’t hear the turkey. Dad thought he heard the turkey. Then he looked in the corn patch but he didn’t hear the turkey. Dad also looked in a field but he didn’t see the turkey. Then he looked in the flower patch. He saw a turkey shaped flower. It was the turkey. Dad shot the turkey and took it home. Then they enjoyed their meal.

Lily


It was Thanksgiving and my mom was cooking for all of us. She took out the huge plate for the turkey. I was setting the table. My sister Aziyah was getting the fire wood. My 2nd dad, James, was cutting the fruit. Soon the big feast was ready. But my mom thought we were missing something. There was no turkey! So my 1st dad, John, was going to get one for us! He said he was a great hunter so he went to the forest. He brought all his stuff. He brought his rope, knife, gun, chicken feed and magnifying glass. Then he saw the turkey! It ran away! He tried to catch it. But it got away! Then I heard my sister scream! I ran quickly outside. I saw the turkey in the flower bush! I opened the flower bush a little bit more and I saw the turkey clearer. I took him under my bed because I like turkeys and I didn’t want it to get hurt. My 1st dad, John, said he gave up. Then I showed my 1st dad, John, the turkey. But he didn’t try to kill it. I showed it to my, mom, 2nd dad, James, and my sister, Aziyah. They said I can keep it! My mom bought one from the store. Then we all got to eat.

Miyanna


It was the day before Thanksgiving. Mom was getting the table ready to eat. Dad was getting the yard ready. He made sure it was nice for the people coming. Me and Kenny were going to find a turkey for dinner. Kenny was waiting for me to get ready to go. I got on my bike and got Kenny in the basket. We got there . Me and Kenny got off the bike. I got my gun. We went in the woods and started to look and we looked and we looked. We finally heard a turkey gobbling. I was looking for the turkey. It was hiding in a leaf on a tree. Kenny was sniffing. He smelled the turkey. Kenny pointed in the direction the turkey was in. I saw the turkey. I got the gun out and then shot it.

Noah


The hunter and his friend John were out hunting. John and the hunter were really best friends. They had known each other four years. Now they had to find a turkey. They searched for hours. They heard a turkey. It sounded far away. Then it stopped. They heard it again. It got closer and closer. It stopped again and came back. John saw a thing in the tree. It was a turkey. It flew out and hit a tree. It fell and John caught it. Then they went home. John started cooking. They had a turkey to eat.

Pierce


On Thanksgiving me and my sister Reece woke up very early. We went to my Mema’s to eat breakfast. Dad went hunting for a turkey. Dad heard a gobble, gobble. Dad followed the turkey sound. But there was no turkey. It started to rain. The rain cleared off and suddenly. Dad could see something in the rainbow. It had eyes. Could it be? Yes! It is! It is the turkey. Mom made a turkey to eat.

Rinna


It was 1 day before Thanksgiving. Dad forgot to get a turkey from the store so we went but they were out of turkeys. So now what are we gonna do? We don’t have a turkey. We’re going to go hunt a turkey. We got packed to go hunt for a turkey. We went to the forest. I set up the tent because I knew we were gonna be there for a while. Then I went with my dad and set up the trap for the turkey. I heard a gobble, gobble sound. It was the turkey. The turkey was so fast it missed the trap. That was the last time I saw that turkey. My dad went back out. He heard something but he couldn’t see what it was. So he took out his flashlight and it was the turkey in the bush. Then it ran. My dad ran too but the turkey was too fast. Then he went back to the tent. It was Thanksgiving morning, and we still didn’t find that turkey. We went back out again. My dad got frustrated because he couldn’t find the turkey. Then we heard a gobble sound behind the bush and the turkey just popped out. My dad got out another trap. Then pow! The trap fell right down on the turkey. Then we went home very happy.

Samia


It was a bright morning before Thanksgiving. My dad got his gun and polished it so he could give it to Dasir. My mom was washing dishes. Dasir decided to go to the Zoo to get a turkey for Thanksgiving. Then he saw a peacock at the Zoo. It was big. It was fat and juicy. It looked delicious. But then the peacock’s feathers fell off and he saw that the peacock was actually a turkey. When nobody was looking he shot him. We cooked the turkey in the oven for Thanksgiving. We all sat and ate the meal, but I didn’t eat the turkey. I don’t like turkey.

Vanessa


Once there was a fat man named Mr. Woodchuck. He wanted to get a turkey for Mrs. Woodchuck. So he ran outside got into his car and started to hunt. He went into the woods. Then he saw a turkey and started to chase it. When he got up the turkey was gone. He saw something move in the flower bush. He moved the branch, then he shot it. Then he picked it up and took it home and had a nice Thanksgiving feast.
