Wood Shop Membership

Certification is needed before purchasing a Wood Shop membership — located in the Senior Center. There are eight complete workstations typically available. EquiPMent includes a Saw Stop Table Saw; 14”Band Saw; variable speed Drill Press; DeWalt 12” Sliding Compound Miter saw; Grizzly 15” Planer; Belt Sander; Disc Sander; 12” Lathe, Delta 6” Jointer; DeWalt Variable Speed 20” Scroll Saw; Router; Rikon MiniLathe; Jet Drum Sander and more! Participants must be 18 years or older to operate Wood Shop equipment.

Arlington Classic Tours is for you! Let the Park District do all the planning – all you have to do is register for the tour, check-in on the day of the tour, sit back and relax in a luxury motorcoach while we do the driving and enjoy all the activities that tour has to offer.
• Arlington Classic Tours offers approximately 60 one-day tours plus overnight and extended travel
• Members pay $15 less than non-members on each one-day tour.

Holiday Cheer
Friday, December 8 • 11:15-2:45 pm
It’s time to celebrate this special time of year with your friends from the Arlington Heights Park District. This luncheon will be held at the Meridian Banquets. Entree selection is due at the time of registration. Soup, Vegetables, Potato, and Coffee/Tea are included. An Ice Cream Chocolate Tart will be served for dessert. A cash bar will be available. Enjoy a holiday performance by Rosie and the Rivets. Each luncheon participant will receive a free raffle ticket for a chance to win a raffle prize of their choice. Raffle prizes will be displayed in the Gift Store/Park District Office in the Senior Center. Tickets are six for $5 or $1 per ticket. Winners will be picked after the entertainment.

Tai Chi Moves Intro
Tai Chi is an ancient Chinese exercise performed in a slow, relaxed, continuous motion. Learn Qi Gong breathing, stretching, and 24 forms of Tai Chi. This is an introduction class to Tai Chi and improves balance, posture, and breathing and relaxes the mid while strengthening the muscles, tendons and joints. (KM)

ChiWalking
ChiWalking is a mindful practice and based on the foundational principles of Tai Chi. The ChiWalking form focuses can be practiced throughout your day to reinforce and make a part of your daily routine. The goal of this program is to improve walking efficiency and prevent injuries. You’ll learn how to improve your posture, neutralize the forces of both gravity and the oncoming road, use your core muscles rather than your feet and lower leg muscles to create movement. ChiWalking can make walking as exercise more fun and enjoyable. Margaret, the instructor, is the only certified ChiWalking and ChiRunning instructor in Illinois. You must wear comfortable walking closed-toe gym shoes to this class and bring a water bottle and snack. (KM)
Chair Yoga
Yoga is a wonderful way to relax, restore flexibility, improve breathing and increase energy. This class is designed for the student who does not feel comfortable getting on the floor to exercise on a mat. Learn all the techniques with a few modifications to relax comfortably seated in a chair. (KM)

The instructor takes you through warming exercises, deep breathing, yoga postures and relaxation techniques in a gentle and non-strenuous manner. Floor routines are included in this class. Zumba Gold
This class is innovative, fun and exciting and offers a lower-intensity workout than traditional Zumba, but also uses a fusion of Latin and international dance music. Zumba Gold combines high-energy music with unique moves and combinations and focuses on elements of cardiovascular, muscular conditioning, flexibility, and balance. This is a contracted classes. DANCE BeMoved Dance
BeMoved is a dance fitness experience designed for adults of all movement abilities. Classes begin with easy-to-follow therapeutic movements that integrate the upper and lower body. This is a contracted classes. Fee is non-refundable. (KM)
Broadway Bound Dance
Get your steps in, burn some calories and have fun as we explore musical theatre dance. Each week we will focus on a different genre from a Broadway musical. Choreographer, Susan Pritzker, will be the instructor in the class and has years of experience choreographing Broadway musicals. No dance experience is required. (KM)
Let’s Get Tapping
Tap your toes to the beat in this new tap class. Learn tap terminology, steps, and skills through the progression of this class. Sophia is a Certified Dance Educator and Master Dance Educator. She has been teaching dancing her entire life and teaches the class in a non-competitive manner with low pressure on the dancers. She strives for a fun and energetic class while modifying techniques for every skill and ability level. Tap shoes are highly recommended but closed-toed shoes are acceptable as well. This class is geared toward the beginner but will be fun for the intermediate-level dancer as well. (KM)
Modern Square Dance Drop-in
This group offers modern square dances at the SSD and Plus levels 7:30-10PM on the second, fourth and fifth Fridays of the month from September through May. Dances are held in the Fitness/Dance Room in the Senior Center located at 1801 W. Central Rd. All experienced square dancers are welcome. Round Dance Advanced
A synchronized form of ballroom dancing that allows you to master all the ballroom rhythms in easy-to-learn figures and positions. All couples do the same thing simultaneously through a technique called “cueing”. Couples are preferred. Singles are welcome. This contracted class is a continuing program. (KM)

Toomeys Line Dance Drop-In
Instructor, Sharman Toomey, teaches beginner through intermediate line dances in this Wednesday and Thursday night program which meets Wednesday from 7-9PM and Thursdays from 7-9:30PM. Meet new friends, learn new dances, exercise and have fun. Dennis and Sharman combine country, popular and alternative music with line dancing techniques. Bridge Beginning
Focuses on the Standard American Bridge form, language, the mechanics of bidding and playing structured hands. No prior Bridge experience needed. (KM)

Emphasizes additional bidding and the introduction of simple conventions. Learn logical thinking and the sound techniques needed to give the best play. (KM)
Bridge Advanced
Advanced bidding techniques with special emphasis on play of hand and defensive play. Students must understand Standard American Bridge bidding techniques of Stayman, Gerber and Blackwood conversions. (KM)
Best Bridge Ever!
Learn to view bidding, play of hand and defense techniques for those who already know the basics of Standard American Bridge. The format is up to an eight-hand, pre-dealt game. No class 11/23. (KM)
Bridge Potpourri
Our open division forum designed to find solutions to Bridge challenges specifically designed for students with advanced skills in Standard American Bridge and bidding techniques. Areas of concern regarding bidding defense, play of hand, protocol, etc., will be discussed. (KM)
Canasta Beginner
Now is the time to learn a fun, challenging and very popular card game, Canasta! This class will be taught with guided instruction by Sandi Firsel, an experienced teacher. It is an enjoyable card game that appeals to both men and women, as well as young and 'mature' players. Through this class you will learn the basics and strategies of Canasta. (KM)
Beyond Beginning
For those who have previously played Canasta. You will be able to refresh, perfect, and improve your skills of this game. It will be taught by Sandi Firsel, an experienced teacher who will refine your skills and expose you to many strategies that will bring your game to a higher level. (KM)
Mah Jongg Beginner
Learn the rules and strategies behind playing the American version of the game. Each participant must have a 2023 Mah Jongg card to participate in the class. If you need a card, please let the staff know at registration and there will be an additional $15 fee to cover the cost of the card. No class 9/4 and 9/25. (KM)

Are you a novice Bridge player who would like to earn credit towards becoming a Bridge Life Master?
This game is designed for novice players who want to establish ranking with the American Contract Bridge League and who have 50 points or less. This sanctioned game is $7. Pay at the door for two hours of playing under the supervision of Patricia Braun, Bridge Gold Life Master.
Please join us for games, prizes and a boxed lunch. You will have the choice of turkey, ham, roast beef, or veggie sandwich options with chips and a cookie. Food choices are required when you register. All levels of players are welcome. Sign up with your table of 4 (each person to register separately, but you will list who you are playing with). ARTS & CRAFTS 50 Shades of Colored Pencils
This fun, portable medium gives you the ability to make vivid and rich drawings that can look like paintings. Not only are colored pencils a great art medium, but they can be a wonderful stress buster. No drawing experience necessary. Come and design/color with us! (KM)
Art of Acrylics Beginner
Learn to work with and create some beautiful works of art with acrylic paints. First made in the 1950s, acrylic paint uses synthetic resin to bind pigments. As it can be diluted with water and used thinly or thickly depending on how much water is added to it, it can resemble a watercolor or oil painting or have its own unique characteristics not attainable with other media. If you are sensitive to oil paint fumes but like the look and feel of oils, this is the class for you. This class is designed for beginning artists. Supplies are included. No class on 11/23. (KM)

This fantastic class is for both aspiring beginning and experienced artists. Draw from still life and source materials by using different drawing media like graphite and colored pencils.
