Experience peace of mind knowing that your child will learn invaluable information about all types of safety through this program. This early safety educational program is designed to introduce safety techniques to young children through participation. Children learn the rules of home, school and outdoor safety through a variety of activities, videos, songs and guest speakers. They also learn about traffic, bicycle and pedestrian safety by driving Super Bikes through Safety Town, a miniature village set up outside. The Park District provides Super Bikes, which accommodate children of various heights and weights. Participants should bring a helmet and water bottle to class each day. (EO)

Join us for the 2025 Museum Explorer Camp season at the Arlington Heights Historical Museum. Campers will enjoy days filled with crafts, hands-on activities and of course, history! The weekly themes are thought provoking and engage campers in a fun and educational way. Read more about the specific themes below!
Camps designed for children entering grades 1-6 in Fall 2025. Children must have completed Kindergarten in June 2025 to enroll in this program.
Back by popular demand! Celebrate women from all walks of life, from ancient to modern, by looking at their daily lives, their struggles, and the achievements that are now part of their historic story. Hear inspiring stories, get creative and get moving!
Campers explore and connect with different types of art by immersing themselves in the time period that they originated in, while also getting the chance to create masterpieces of their own! Duplicate camps include new activities to create a unique experience each week.
By drawing inspiration from the writings and home of our local fairytale writer, Nathanial Banta, campers explore the origins of popular folklore traditions and fairytales. Campers also have the opportunity to write and illustrate their own stories to share with family and friends!
Calling all time travelers! Campers explore the fashion, music and culture of different notable decades throughout the 20th century. Learn what made eras like the roarin’ twenties, the flyin’ forties and the swingin’ sixties iconic as we groove, trot and hop our way through the last century.
Did you ever wonder how Arlington Heights got its start? In this program, campers delve into Arlington Heights’ past, from its founding to its development into the bustling village it is today – by exploring the museum and visiting different significant sites around town.
Campers spend the week out in the garden getting their hands dirty learning to care for plants and trees around us through storytelling, trail making, animal, insect and plant identification and more. Who knows what we will find crawling through the soil to help us in our activities.
Abracadabra, campers! Put on your magician robes and get those wands ready for a fun-filled journey into the fictional and real worlds of magic. Campers are sorted into houses and make their own house crests, learn about the history and practice of magic and participate in a variety of magical crafts and activities. Campers put on their own magic show by the end of the week! Duplicate camps include new activities to create a unique experience each week.
Travel back in time to the 19th century and learn what it was like to live in pioneer days. Campers test their skills at a variety of pioneer activities, such as churning butter, candle and rope making as well as historical games. Work hard and have fun, just like real pioneer children! Duplicate camps include new activities to create a unique experience each week.
For more information about Museum camps, contact Courtney Olson, Museum Director, at colson@ahpd.org.
Campers learn about how a museum works through collecting, exhibiting and trying their hand as a museum curator. With their new found knowledge, the campers work together to solve a mystery from a seemingly unrelated donation of artifacts. Who is the mysterious benefactor and what do these objects have in common? Let the investigation begin! Duplicate camps include new activities to create a unique experience each week.
$133/each
($33 for lunch)
Gather at the site of the Original Arlington Beverages Factory for an “explosive” journey into the world of nineteenth-century soda pop-making. Campers learn about the scientific properties behind this fizzy drink, how it’s made to the bottling process, through experiments, tastings and demonstrations. You even produce and star in your own soda pop commercial! Duplicate camps include new activities to create a unique experience each week.
Sign up for one half day camp per day OR sign up for both and register for the camp lunch code for the week
Do you know what “-ology” means? Join us as we discover the “study of” many things. Campers dive into different areas of study by participating in unique activities and crafts. Campers may even get to meet the professionals behind these amazing fields of study!
Get out those passports and prepare for a trip around the globe! Campers “visit” different parts of the world by experiencing historic and modern games, crafts, celebrations and languages from the countries we explore. This gives campers a new appreciation for the richness and diversity of cultures that have influenced our own community. Duplicate camps include new activities to create a unique experience each week.
*Week of June 30-July 3 and August 4-7: $106 (Lunch $27)
