HISTORICAL MUSEUM

Discover A collection of the Past; Preserved for the Future The Historical Museum is a cooperative effort between the Arlington Heights Historical Society, Village of Arlington Heights, and the Arlington Heights Park District. It is a two-acre, five-building complex that tells the story of Suburban America through the lens of Arlington Heights.

Hours Sunday and Thursday 1:30pm-4:30pm Friday and Saturday 10am- 4:30pm Tours are available Saturdays at 10:30am and 2:30pm

Heritage Gallery and Shop Come explore the 145 year story of soda pop in Arlington Heights! Learn how the creation of this fizzy drink had a large impact on Arlington Heights and the Greater Chicago area through the exhibit A Pop of Local Flavor: The Sweet Story of Arlington Club. In addition, enjoy our unique and interesting selection of gifts, books, Arlington Club Soda and more! Membership The not-for-profit Arlington Heights Historical Society collects artifacts and materials related to the suburban historical experience of Arlington Heights. The Center for Suburban History The Center is the premier research repository for the historical study of American Suburban culture and experience. The Center supports the study of suburban history and culture through the collection and preservation of significant archival materials, books, photographs, audio visual records, newspapers, maps and more. The Center is dedicated to serving local, regional, and national research needs of residents, students, genealogists, academic historians, and public interest. Rental Information Planning an event and need an indoor meeting or event space? The Arlington Heights Historical Museum has a large multipurpose room that features the latest in technology—including a digital Smart board, as well as a portable digital projection system and free wifi. The room can hold between 50-75 people depending on the room set up and access to other Museum exhibits and spaces are included for most rentals.

Step back in time with us for a food-centric experience of 1910. Immerse yourself in the beautiful atmosphere of the Museum’s Banta House while enjoying a three course meal, where each dish has been based off of an original early 1900’s recipe. Historically costumed staff and period entertainment will enhance the evening to make you feel like the honored guest of a Banta family dinner party. (LS)

Halloween Pumpkin Carving

Join us to continue a well-loved tradition-- pumpkin carving! Bring your favorite carving knives and we will provide the rest, including pumpkins, paint, decorations, and, most importantly, the messy clean up. Merit Badge University

Come to complete all aspects of each of the required Citizenship badges. Each session will cover discussion and educational elements of the badges and there will be take-home assignments to cover some of the research portions, which will be presented in the second session. (LS)

Holiday Tea at the Museum

Enjoy a time honored tradition with your family or make new memories with your children as you join us at the beautiful 1908 Banta House, decorated in its historic holiday finery. Use it as an excuse to dress up for the occasion as we serve an assortment of delicious sandwiches, and sweets accompanied by steaming pots of tea and a festive punch. Historic Arlington Heights - September 8th, 7pm - Free Event Following our Historic Scavenger Hunt this past Summer, the Arlington Heights Historical Museum and Arlington Heights Memorial Library are joining together to talk about the history of some of the important landmarks of the Village.
