rom very early on in his career as a pharmacist on the island of Saint Thomas in the Danish West Indies, A.H. Riise gained a well-deserved reputation for producing some of the very finest rum which, initially, was intended predominantly for medicinal purposes. As his skills grew, so did his rum, which saw him become the recipient of a number of Gold Medal Awards, the first of which was at the prestigious ‘Nordiske Industri-Landbrugs & Kunstudstilling’ exhibition back in 1888.
A delicious combination of rums aged between 7 and 21 years
We are fortunate to have been able to recreate a blend after the recipes A.H. Riise used to create his ‘masterpieces’, and in celebration of this first international success, we have faithfully produced this particular medal-winning rum, which is an unusual fusion of Caribbean and South American rums which have been slowly maturing in oak casks for between seven and twenty-one years. A.H. Riise XO 1888 Copenhagen Gold Medal Rum is a taste of history and can honestly be described as a “superlative” rum as this is exactly the same word used to describe the rum he presented at the Norwegian Exposition.
