THE DIFFERENCE AT DELHI A broad, practical curriculum makes SUNY Delhi graduates more marketable for a variety of jobs than typical architecture programs. Delhi’s innovative program takes a blended approach to teaching architecture, combining art, design, technology, and hands-on construction techniques. Dedicated architecture studios allow students to use large format scanners and plotters, a laser cutter, model shop with hand and power tools, and computers equipped with the latest design and drafting software. Students also have access to other campus assets such as photo equipment, large building construction labs, and material testing equipment, allowing both digital and physical practice of the craft. Core studio and lab courses maintain small class sizes (12-18 students per section) and are taught by full-time faculty with extensive professional experience in the architecture industry.
THE COLLEGE SUNY Delhi is nestled in the picturesque Catskill Mountain region of upstate New York, just three hours north of New York City. Enrolling 3,500 students from New York State and beyond, SUNY Delhi offers an intimate, diverse, and supportive environment to live and study.
PROGRAMS
ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN & BUILDING, BACHELOR OF TECHNOLOGY
Students in this rigorous pre-professional BT degree will not only focus on structural design, but study will also extend to en-compass the materials, systems, fabrication, and technical documentation of buildings. This allows students to experience a unique, synergistic blend of design and presentation, digital representation, structural engineering, environmental systems, building materials, lab-based construction methods, and liberal arts. Graduates from SUNY Delhi can apply for the professional licensing exam for New York State upon completion of a structured professional internship. Students earning the BT degree are well prepared to earn employment with traditional firms, allied professions such as engineering, planning, landscape architecture, designbuild firms, as well as related industries and government. Students also go on to continue their education with NAABaccredited professional degree programs and related fields like urban planning or historic preservation.
ARCHITECTURAL TECHNOLOGY, ASSOCIATE OF APPLIED SCIENCE
Students in the two-year AAS degree will establish a strong knowledge base in the fundamentals of architectural graphics and design, architectural history, construction materials and methods, environmental systems, computer-aided documentation, and liberal arts. Coursework encompasses a solid foundation for continuing study in the BT degree, or direct entry into a technician position in the architecture and related design and building industries. Technicians are typically responsible for assisting with drafting and design, field measurement and documentation, cost estimating, and construction observation. STUDY ABROAD An exclusive study-abroad program is available for students to enhance their learning by examining historical structures in Florence and Rome, Italy.
