TSUEN WAN BACKGROUND TSUEN WAN LOCATION
HISTORICAL & CULTURAL BUILDINGS
According to the report of Hong Kong archaeological society, there were people settled in Tsuen Wan as on earlier days. Moreover, it had a lot of name was known as Tsin Wan which means shallow bay, Tsak Wan, pirate bay, and renamed to Tsuen Wan lastly. Since 1686, Tsuen Wan were 26 different villages to concluse. In 1911. there were 3000villagers settled in Tsuen Wan. Before 1930, the residents of Tsuen-Kwai-Tsing mostly depended on agriculture for a living, growing crops like rice, pineapple, sweet potatoes and vegetables.

1. Lo Wai Tsuen - The oldest village in Tsuen Wan The village established in 1669. At the beginning of Lo Wai Tsuen, there was a wall to defend against pirates. The houses in the village were built in the form of ranks. The villagers of the same surname were built in the same row of houses, called “row houses”.
2. Yuen Yuen Institute & Western Monastery These areas are some temples established. A major feature is the temple, with dozens of Buddha, Taoist and Confucian temples.
3. Tsuen Wan Tin Hau Kung The Tin Hau Temple in Tsuen Wan was originally located in Wushigang, the southern part of Shiweijiao. It was built in the Kangxi period of the Qing Dynasty. It was built by the townspeople. It was divided into three at the beginning of the temple. The middle is the main hall of the temple.
4. Hoi Pa Resite Village Originally a Hakka mixed-lineage village established in the late 18th and early 19th centuries. The house was built in 1904 a scholar from the village, using rammed earth, grey bricks and timber, and has been preserved as a fine example of traditional southern Chinese village architecture.

1 The districts also had light industries in those early days, including manufacturing incense and lime. Some said there were 24 incense factories at one time crowded around Tsuen Wan town.

The Tsuen-Kwai-Tsing area hosts the Texaco Petroleum Company, which might be described as the only heavy industry presence in Hong Kong in the pre-war days.

Tsuen Wan Old Market was the commercial centre of the district at that time, under the administration of On Chuen Kuk. Unlike other bazaars in the New Territories with specific market days, this market in Tsuen Wan opened daily and provided a large variety of goods for sale.
Between 1961 and 1971, Tsuen Wan became Tsuen Wan had evolved into the largest industrial districtT here were 7 textile factories and 5 enamel factories located in Tsuen Wan; they were mostly large-scaled and equipped with advanced technology and machinery.
Coined by the Government as “Tsuen Wan Satellite Town” in the early days, the town is one of the nine New Towns of Hong Kong and also one of the earliest planned suburban towns. The planning for the town started in 1959 and it was announced on the Government Gazette in September 1961. Development began officially in 1973. Unlike the other firstgeneration new towns of Sha Tin and Tuen Mun, there is no fixed “town centre” in Tsuen Wan New Town. Instead, the town is developed using Tsuen Wan, Kwai Chung and Tsing Yi as the three centres.

5. Sam Tung Uk Village Sam Tung Uk Village is a Hakka walled village that was built by the Chan clan in 1786. After moving from Guangdong in the mid-18th century, the clan settled in Tsuen Wan, where they reclaimed land along the coast to cultivate.
6. The Mills It was completed in 1954 with a total area of more than 260,000 square meters. It was the most productive textile factory in Hong Kong. In 2014, it cost 700 million to conserve the mill and change it to the creative space.
7. Tsuen Wan Town Hall The Tsuen Wan Town Hall was completed in 1980 and is the first cultural performance venue in the New Territories. It provided a large performance place to the New Territories residents.
7. Jockey Club Tak Wah Park Tsuen Wan Jockey Club Tak Wah Park was designed along the classical Chinese garden theme. The park, with an area of about 1.63 hectares, is located in Tsuen Wan town centre. Being a Chinese-style garden that is rarely found in Tsuen Wan, Tak Wah Park provides a fine place for relaxation in the bustling town area.
TSUEN WAN FOOTBRIDGE SYSTEM
In Tsuen Wan, there are complete footbridge surround it. People can go along the bridge from Tsuen Wan station to Tsuen Wan West station. It also connects a lot of main shopping center and core government buildings in Tsuen Wan.
Near the site, the residential towers are connected by the footbridge. In future, it will connect with other footbridge and construct a super footbridge in Tsuen Wan,

The diagram shows the main traffic road in Tsuen Wan. Tsuen road is part of the New Territories Circlar Road. To north side, it connects to Tum Mun Road. To south side, it connects to Kwai Chung area. Another main taffic road is the Texaco road. It connects to the Tsuen Wan inside area and it also connects to the Tsing Tseun Road to Tsing Yi.

To the analysis, the stratong point of the path would be choose the Tsuen Wan Station and Tsuen Wan West Station. It is because there are the most far away public transport to the site. A lot of shopes and restaurants are located between the two stations and site. Therefore, these place would be a issue to attract the people go to the site more closely ot they will across those place to our site. Acoording to the Tsuen Wan develop planning, our site will have a extend footbridge. Therefore, they will come to site along the footbridge in future.

NEON LIGHT IN HONG KONG
In the past, Neon light artwork was very common in Hong Kong. Since 1970s, Hong Kong has enjoyed rapid and sustained economic success. A lot of shopes opened in Hong Kong. Before 2000, the people will use it to make signboard and hang in the street. Therefore, it became a feature of the Hong Kong street. However, After 2000, LED lighting become popular and it has number of advantages over neon lighting. Neon lighting become seldom to use. Renctly, it becomes an element of art works. VISUAL STREET VIEW Hong Kong is the highest density city in the world. The street also did not very wide. However, there were a lot of shopes in the same street and used the neon light signboard to attrack the people focus. These huge and colourful signboards were overlap in an limit space. It constructed a visual street view in Hong Kong.
HONG KONG CULTURE As Hong Kong neon light was very famous in the past. Therefore, when other countries people want to show the hong kong street view, they always show the neon light street to reflect the Hong Kong street. The above image is from a Japanese cartoon. LANDMARK Sometimes, the neon light signboard will make some special image. When it light in night, the people will remember it easily and link it with that location. Therefore, it also beome a landmak to help the people know a place.
It is a consists of brightly glowing, electrified glass tubes or bulbs that contain rarefied neon or other gases. Neon lights are a type of cold cathode gas-discharge light.

Chinese Calligraphy - BeiWei Zansyu BeiWei Zansyu was used since Wei and Jin Dynasties. After Mr. Au Kin Kung used it on the signboard, it became popular in Hong Kong, It is because one of the features of this calligraphy is founder clearly and no modification. Therefore, a lot of shop also welcome to use it. Some Hong Konger believed that Beiwei Zansyu is a Hong Kong character and it also become a part of the Hong Kong culture.

The buildings will use pad foundation.The pad foundations are shallow foundation that take and spread point loads to the soil safely. The pad foundation are preferred if the soil at the site have sufficient strength and is not too deep to construct. As the buildings were only 3 storeies. MEanwhile pad foundation can decrease the destory to the site.
SUSTAINABLE & ENVIRONMENTAL STRATEGIES
In central roof area, there is a black cladding planel. It is effective to recieve heat. Therefore, the buildings can have strack effect. It is good to the natural ventilation. Between the curtain wall, there is an overlap connection and have a little gap. The gap can let the heat air from under level floor raise to the roof. IT also could avoid the rain enter the buiuldings.
