AIESEC in Numbers •

AIESEC, as an idea/change-agent/platform, was established during one of the toughest times of human history. AIESEC took shape in the late 1940’s, post the horrific world-war era, with the sole purpose of impacting the humankind (especially the youth) in a positive way, by facilitating an international platform for dialogue and selfdevelopment (individual and organizational). AIESEC revolutionized organizational dynamics by creating a dynamic leadership-based organizational model wherein the leadership (at all levels) is changed at specific intervals. The model ensures continuous/plentiful leadership opportunities, ranging from managing a team to managing the entire network. It also ensures smooth flow of fresh ideas, by individuals from across the globe. AIESEC’s sole purpose of impacting the humankind in a positive way has evolved into a multi-fold structure with several kinds of opportunities to explore and develop. However, the idea of peace (in the context of post-world-war era AIESEC) remains the same i.e. facilitating a platform for the youth to explore and develop their potential by working on world issues. As the world changes, the focus of AIESEC also changes (to the extent required); it adapted to meeting the needs on socio-economic and cultural ends. AIESEC today, provides global opportunities to individuals and organizations, as a measure to adapt and contribute to the phenomenon of globalization. ‘Change’ in AIESEC has several forms – ranging from change of leadership, change in individual and organizational behavior, change of focus (through well-structured five year plan aimed at recognizing and executing a mechanism to tackle global issues) and most importantly change through exchange (impacting individuals) – AIESEC believes that exchange of ideas through international dialogue (through student exchange programs) can create growth mindset in individuals by broadening their perspective in terms of global cultural understating and growth opportunities. AIESEC’s global campaign of “6 weeks can change your life” (a campaign to promote international traineeships/cultural exchanges) clearly portrays the commitment of AIESEC in creating a challenging learning environment through positively subjecting youth to change.
