why leadership matters Leadership matters because it is, and always has been, what makes our world a better place. The world is changing fast and education systems are leaving young people unprepared to deal with the pace of economic, social and technological change. We need young leaders today who will choose how the world will be led tomorrow. Canada needs leaders. According to the 2013 Deloitte report on Canadian productivity, “our children will be the first generation of Canadians with a lower standard of living than their parents.
this is why we do what we do

how we make leaders
AIESEC’s
programs run according to our Experiential Leadership Development model. By providing practical leadership experiences to tens of thousands of young people all over the world, where they have the confidence to learn and freedom to fail, AIESEC provides a platform for personal and professional growth. The “Outer Journey” constitutes facing challenges, working with people and achieving results. By going through challenging environments, you force yourself to develop skills and discover things you never knew about yourself. The “Inner Journey” comprises of personal reflection and self-discovery, through which you better yourself and personal values. Both components of the model are essential to creating better leaders with responsibility to the world.

NOTABLE ALUMNI NEIL JANIN
Director, McKinsey & Company It was in AIESEC that I discovered for the first time my leadership style and it hasn’t changed since. After gaining some solid experience in the business community by soliciting and raising internships for the McGill local committee, I became Eastern Regional Director for AIESEC Canada. … This role pushed me to be decisive and make executive decisions while coaching, motivating and guiding members to strengthen their local teams.
LAURENT LACOURSIèRE
Facilitation Specialist, Royal Bank of Canada AIESEC proved to me that anything is possible. I never would have dreamed of being one of the leaders of a great organization at the young age of 22 years and having the opportunity to travel around the world. Because of AIESEC, I have life-long friends in different countries, a balanced perspective of the world and a career where I use the passion I discovered and the skills gained over twenty years ago. My years in AIESEC conditioned me to embrace new life experiences, with travel to France, Israel, Belgium and cities across Canada and the United States.
TALLIE RABIN-CLAASSEN
Manager, Trudeau Centre for Peace and Conflict Studies The beauty of AIESEC is it allowed me to take risks and discover things about myself I never knew I had in me. Project Little Schools taught me that I could start something from scratch. This experience invigorated me to run for President of the National Committee, an experience that truly was a ‘whole new world’. I never thought I would put myself ‘out there’ to be judged, but I am so glad I did as I came to know myself as a leader on a profound level.
