Message from the President 2009-2010 The term 2009/2010 meant a significant growth in all operations of AIESEC Denmark, innovation in the way we did things and consolidation of the local offices in order for them to become stronger and more independent. We felt long term stainability can only be achieved by having more results driven by the base (the local committees) of the organization than by its top. From the beginning of the term we figured what AIESEC Denmark needs is stronger Local Committees in order to grow. The road wasn’t easy – we had to take bold decisions, we had to act fast, we had to adapt and be flexible and most important, we had to be there for the members and local committees no matter what. This was our number one priority and in the end, I feel it was the right decision opening up the potential to achieve results not achieved since the 1980’s. Throughout the year we implemented many innovative changes throughout the country. In the exchange area we introduced 3 key national, long term projects to improve stainability. We had great advances in the quality of education of our members throughout our conference cycle including 2 key Scandinavian regional collaborations focused on action orienting the membership. We had the good fortune of being able to represent the youth voice along with AIESEC International as part of the UN Climate Change Conference, COP 15. Finally, we established the Board of Foundation to oversee the financial future of the organisation through investment strategies. All in all, it was a challenging and adventurous year, but I am grateful for the opportunity I had to lead AIESEC Denmark this year together with 4 exceptional individuals. I am happy with the progress of the country and whish it all the best in an even further growth and development! Thank you AIESEC Denmark, Member Committee team 2009/2010, Local Committee Presidents 2009/2010, Board of Trustees and all our supporters for an amazing term! On behalf of the Member Committee 2009/2010

Sincerely,

Teodora Sanda Chetan

Message from the President 2010-2011 “Nothing is permanent except change” – Heraclitus, 5th Century B.C. Whilst the core essence of AIESEC remains a steady constant throughout the organisation, this last year has been coloured with many shifts in the method with which we deliver this essence. Members throughout the world took part in analysing the status quo and designing a new midterm ambition to grow and evolve the global operations. Globally this analysis has resulted in the development of new programmes and new performance benchmarks, whilst nationally it has included the rollout of a new investment strategy calling on all the members to devise what should be The Next Big Thing for AIESEC Denmark. AIESEC Denmark experienced another year of growth, despite the financial crisis. We saw a year of increased cooperation amongst all entities, the strengthening of processes, and increased opportunities at all levels of the organisation. Consequently AIESEC Denmark achieved 100% exchange growth, successfully executed several national projects and continued delivery of high quality of conferences, which were managed at the local level for the first time. More investments have also led to a more active role for the recently formed Board of Foundation and we have all benefited greatly from their involvement. The organisation will its basis of continuous evolution and innovation, however the members and leaders of all the entities have proven themselves capable of adapting to the changing state of AIESEC. My deepest thanks goes to the Board of Trustees, Board of Foundation, partners and extraordinary individuals who have devoted time and effort to support AIESEC in Denmark. I feel confident that AIESEC will continue to have an impact on its stakeholders and that we will keep on moving forwards, constantly challenging the limits. I am very grateful for the opportunity to lead the amazing Member Committee team of 10/11, the close cooperation with the Local Committee Presidents, the Local Executive boards and members and to have been a part of such a challenging and interesting year in AIESEC.

Sincerely

Line Dahl Pedersen

Between 2009 and 2011 AIESEC Denmark has refocused its approach to the operation of the global internship programme to allow more Danish students to gain an international internship experience while completing their university studies that take advantage of the summer study break. This long term strategy resulted in a 286% growth over the same period in the previous 2 years, with the most aggressive growth happening in the 2010-2011 year. The sectors that are in highest demand from Danish students are those in the community development and management areas. 46% of all of the students participating in the exchange programme from Denmark were those participating in the Summer Abroad programme. Since 2008 the community development sector has averaged a yearly growth of 314% in the participation of Danish students. The strongest sector of interest for Danish students (52%, 2009-2011) remains with the professional development opportunities in the management area. Encompassing the fields of finance, accounting, marketing, human resources and project management these opportunities are usually most attractive to graduates for a time frame of 6-12 months allowing them a solid break into the corporate environment of their field of interest.

Performance Report | Intern Experience Kristine Pedersen Former Local Committtee President and National Support Team - Strategy Internship in Bangledesh with Grameen Bank Someone once told me that culture is like a map that you’re being given as you grow up and which guides you through life in the settings where you are. My map was given to me in Denmark, this is where I was born and grew up as a child and this map was completely useless for me when trying to find my way around in the culture which I faced in Bangladesh – it was a challenging and at the same time an amazing experience! After having been a member of AIESEC for four years and had leadership position for 2 ½ years, I finally went on an internship with AIESEC. During my studies I had developed an interest in social business and microfinance and I graduated with microfinance as the topic of my master thesis so therefore it was a dream coming true when I got an internship through AIESEC in the Nobel Peace Prize winning microfinance institution, Grameen Bank in Bangladesh. Doing this created for me a link between me studies and the real world at the same time as giving me an incredible experience in a country with such a different culture and so different challenges from where I come from, Denmark. It was an incredible experience to challenge myself like this and overcoming this challenge is one of my greatest achievements in life so far. At the same time I was living with people from all around the world and I developed friendships with these people and not least with the Bangladeshis I met through AIESEC and in my internship. And finally I got experience in a field I am passionate about and experiences which are valuable to my future ambitions of having a positive impact on society.

Performance Report | Intern Experience Cristina A. Matonte AIESEC USB - Venezuela Eugenia Arguedas Colom AIESEC UCR - Costa Rica Interns at Microting A/S Odense The process from applying for the internship and to finally arrive in Denmark was so smooth, that we never had any worries about coming to a different country with a very different culture. AIESEC was there to support us all the way and make sure that we would have the best experience possible. We both wanted to apply our programming knowledge in a different setting. Our AIESEC internship as software developers at Microting A/S has truly been a positive learning experience. We came to Denmark in the middle of the winter when it was snowing and AIESEC took us shopping for warm clothes and boots. When we arrived our beds were ready with blankets and there was food in the fridge. Through AIESEC we have gained many friendships in Denmark and discovered some of the cities (Odense, Aarhus, Copenhagen, Sønderborg and Aalborg). It has been very interesting to learn about the Danish culture and traditions since some of them are very different from what we are used to from our home countries. Who would ever have thought that we would take lessons to learn Danish? Yet here we are and it’s all because of AIESEC. It would never have been as smooth and comfortable a transition to move to another country if it wouldn’t have been for the support from AIESEC.

Performance Report | Global Direction 2010 saw the start and end of an era for AIESEC as a global organisation. It was a time when the organisation closed the AIESEC 2010 midterm ambition, marking 5 years of exceptional growth in performance and operations. At the same time, we began defining what would be the next midterm ambition towards achieving peace and fulfillment of humankind’s potential. During International Congress in India 2010, 700 delegates together for the first time with more than 1000 virtual delegates underwent a process of appreciative inquiry to determine what should be the ideal state that AIESEC as an organisation should look like in 5 years. Following the likes of Google, Nike, Amazon.com, Microsoft, Boeing and Twitter, the organisation dreamt big in the form of defining a BHAG (Big Hairy Audacious Goal) alongside of the 2015 Ambition Statements. In the next five years, AIESEC will tell a story of engaging and developing millions of young people by being a global youth voice, a first choice partner, and creating positive impact around the world.

20: AIESEC Denmark Annual Report 2009-2011

Performance Report | Global Direction As part of the evolution towards AIESEC 2015, the organisation has remodeled how it delivers its unique integrated development experience. The revision of the experience delivery model reflects the changing environment for youth development and how young people wish to create a positive impact in society.

Impact Report | Company Experience “Earlier in the year we suddenly got the opportunity to create 10 workshops with a total of 100 AIESEC students. Each group was given a topic from GlobalCitizen.net e.g. Waste. The task was then to pinpoint a specific problem under the different topics and then brainstorm for new products or companies that could earn money while solving the problem. The seriousness and richness of ideas that the AIESEC students showed in solving these tasks made a real impression on me.” --Søren Winther Lundby, Founder and CEO of Global Citizen

“I am convinced that the tools and concepts we have can create more happiness, motivation and effectiveness for students from all kinds of studies. In AIESEC, I have found dynamic people that also focus on paying it forward. My goal is to develop value anchored workshops for different universities and faculties in Denmark. AIESEC and Insights share the same quest, so why not join forces? Being an exchange student in Denmark can sometimes be a challenge. The workshops and concepts of Insights can bridge the differences and open doors between foreign students and Danish students.” -- Tom Fisker Jørgensen Senior Consultant & Business Manager of Insights Nordic

Impact Report | Local Offices AIESEC SDU - Southern University of Denmark Odense and Sønderborg

Over the past two years AIESEC SDU has worked towards strengthening the stainability and performance across all operational areas. From building the overall membership and leadership pipeline to attracting more students to go on international internships, AIESEC SDU has achieved great results consequently creating a highly recognized on-campus brand. After a year of generating no exchanges, AIESEC SDU focused on growing both its external and alumni networks with great success. Microting A/S provided the most profitable relationship taking 8 technical interns and providing resources and training to the Executive Board. The Local Committee has also demonstrated innovation in creating new case competition events, the bi-annual Innovation Day and a similar type event with Daloon A/S. Innovation Day has gone on to become an exportable concept within AIESEC that has been successfully adopted in AIESEC Aarhus. AIESEC SDU has continued to expand its operations to the SDU campus in Sønderborg over the past two years building up a team and overall operations. This culminated in the hosting for Fortius 2011 and finally the approval of AIESEC SDU Sønderborg as an Initiative Group of AIESEC Denmark. In the last 2 years AIESEC SDU has been successful in achieving its goals and improving the overall operations. The continued success and pipeline of members as well as twice being awarded top Local Committee in the country are an ongoing testament to this achievement.

AIESEC CBS - Copenhagen Business School, IT University and Danish Technical University Since 2009, AIESEC CBS has been consistently evolving its operations across all areas, taking on new challenges, events and initiatives. From developing a range of national promotional materials and integrated marketing channels to hosting a diverse range of events with the help of our sponsors (CBS, Tuborg Fundet, Halifax Burgers, Halls, Heineken, Neutral, Fotex and Netto), the recognition of the AIESEC brand on campus continues to grow. The results of this evolution can been in the record numbers of students applying to take part as members of the local committee in addition to the 50+ people we were able to send abroad on international internships. New sales approaches put AIESEC CBS at the top of the Danish LCs competing in a Scandinavian sales competition and securing a branch out to new corporate markets for internships. A distinct highlight of the period was playing host of a Scandinavian regional conference in January 2011. With support from AIESEC UNIC and the national team, we hosted 200 delegates for four days including a Youth to Business summit with companies such as Insights, IBM and Global Citizen.

Impact Report | Local Offices AIESEC Aarhus - Aarhus School of Business and University of Aarhus

During 2009 the decision was made to merge the 2 local offices in Aarhus, AIESEC ASB and AIESEC UNI, into one. AIESEC Aarhus officially came to be for the start of the 10-11 year with 15 members. Successful recruitment rounds in September and February took the membership to a peak of 70 members in spring 2011. Two local induction conferences gave the new members a good start to their AIESEC experience, leading to 11 applicants for 7 positions for the following year’s executive board elections. AIESEC Aarhus performed and developed well in especially two areas: exchange growth and external relations. Furthermore, financial practices were optimized and governance structures improved. AIESEC Aarhus sealed a partnership with the then Aarhus School of Business, Aarhus University. The agreement formalized already existing ties between AIESEC and the university, and entailed delivery of a project organised by AIESEC with the support from the university. The outcome of this was a 3-part event series during the spring of 2011, focusing on bringing students and business life closer together. In exchange, AIESEC Aarhus succeeded in sending 27 individuals on life-changing internship experiences abroad. This was an increase of almost 300% from the previous year’s combined results of the two premerger committees. In incoming exchange, the local committee raised the first AIESEC traineeship in Aarhus in over 5 years, and an additional two traineeships were raised in spring 2011. The period 2009-2011 was that of transition and new beginning as one Local Committee Aarhus, but it was also a period of growth and development beyond the pre-defined organisational changes.

Since 2009 AIESEC CBS has been fortunate to have the dedicated support of our Board of Advisors. Chaired by Christopher Mercado, with Mark Kozak, Elsebeth Blaabjerg, Lene Refsgaard, Anders Harbo, Lone Sondergaard and Ulla Ipsen, they are a great presence with the local committee and provide the Executive Board with invaluable advice in order to support the continued growth of the Local Committee.

Impact Report | Local Offices AIESEC UNIC - Copenhagen University, Danish Technical University and Roskilde University

AIESEC UNIC has experienced great developments over the past two years. Fuelled by high ambition and strong commitment to results, has lead to a diverse membership where each individual has the desire to succeed for themselves and others. Improved internal membership tracking and communication has translated into more members participating in national and international conferences. It has also created a transparent and open leadership structure which is focused not only on the results of now, but the overall stainability of the committee. We have worked hard to build a strong relationship with Studenterhuset , which has opened up new opportunities for hosting events such as Global Village, company workshops and joint events with AIESEC CBS. The growth of our recruitment of both members and students to participate in exchange programs such as Summer Abroad, further confirms the interest in AIESEC’s activities across our three universities. Creating a local committee that is sustainable operationally and financially has been a key focus during this period. With the help of our alumni, we managed to set up a Board of Advisors to track the performance of the executive team and provide long term guidance to the local committee. Externally, through our strategic partnership with Cyclop Studios, we have created a pipeline for creating internship opportunities, which ultimately results in a secured source of income. Finally, due to improved financial management practices, we have been able to play host to the national transition conference in July with a view to being able to host a larger scale conference in the next term.

In Focus | Expansions Official Extension - VIA College Horsens

The 10-11 year saw AIESEC Denmark pursuing an office expansion strategy for the first time in recent history. Driven by the national committee with investment from the Board of Foundation, in conjunction with the Career Centre at VIA College in Horsens, an Initiative Group consisting of 10 students was formed to both learn about the operations of AIESEC and ascertain the feasibility of opening an office in Horsens. With the support of AIESEC Aarhus as the partner local committee, the members of the Initiative Group quickly came to find their way in the organisation, participating in local activities in Aarhus as well as sending delegates to national conferences. Back in Horsens students, companies and faculty were approached for support for the project building a small student pipeline for outgoing internships. At the conclusion of the year upon presentation of a well researched viability plan, the Board of Directors approved the admission of VIA College Horsens as an Official Extension of AIESEC Denmark as well as securing university funding to continue to build operations towards becoming a Local Committee. 26: AIESEC Denmark Annual Report 2009-2011

Impact Report | Local Offices AIESEC AAU - Aalborg University

Over the last two years AIESEC AAU has achieved amazing growth in membership and become a well functioning LC able to run several functional areas and projects simultaneously both on local and national level. One of the focus areas for AAU 09-11 was promoting the exchange experience and achieving growth in all exchange areas. AAU made a significant contribution to the Summer Abroad program sending in the first year four members and capitalizing on the experiences and reputation of the program to send eleven members in 10-11. In raising traineeships AAU had regular call outs to companies, attended company fairs and contacted business councils in Nordjylland for cooperation. Several new business contacts were created which could yield traineeships or other partnerships in the future. AIESEC AAU has been host and participant in several events during the past two years which have served to raise the profile of the local committee. This included participating in Career Days 2010, hosting a monthly event at the Student House called “Country of the Month to highlight the many exchange destinations in the network and organizing CITIUS 2010, the first national conference of AIESEC Denmark for 2010-2011. AIESEC AAU has been able to provide a much stronger starting point for next year and increased our presence and relevance at Aalborg University.

Impact Report | Alumni in Focus Birger Baylund - Founder and CEO Debitor Registret A/S AIESEC Experience 1980-1983 - AIESEC CBS Raising and Reception Officer 1983 - Exchange with CFC Corp AIESEC Phillipines 1983-1984 - National Committee Vice President AIESEC Denmark 2009-Present Board of Trustees Member AIESEC Denmark 2010-Present Board of Foundation Member AIESEC Denmark My personal feeling towards AIESEC remains unspoiled in my heart, even after 30 years. To me AIESEC is something pure, idealistic and by continuing bringing students from all over the world together, AIESEC still plays an important role in global business, culture and understanding. Why do I continue to spend time with AIESEC as an alumnus? It’s a combination of idealistic and professional reasons. After spending 25 years working for several international companies, I started out as an entrepreneur starting up a Danish Consumer Credit company Debitor Registret. Through my participation I hope to use the business networks within the alumni network in order to enhance my company brand recognition. On the personal side it is a great pleasure to work with AIESEC students on leadership level as a member of Board of Trustees or as coach/ mentor for National Committee Members. Today more than 50% of the Danish AIESEC members come from abroad, so there is a truly global atmosphere at our meetings and it makes me grow! Working with the worlds next generation of leaders blends my thinking with their priorities and passion for life. It gives me more energy and it improves the quality of my everyday decisions!

Why Should Alumni Re-Engage with AIESEC? Every former AIESEC member should consider getting back in touch with the organisation either directly through the local committees or through the alumni network. Before doing so, it is obvious to ask why? There is plenty of networking opportunities out there, my time is limited…and AIESEC…been there, done that and I even got the T-shirt, tell me something new! Alumni, in my opinion, is an integrated part of AIESEC and should be recognised as such. I feel that if I can support in any way that enables AIESEC to grow, I feel like I am ‘paying back’ some of the investments AIESEC put into my development, and that’s a good feeling. It will always be a very individual question to answer. I joined AIESEC in 1980 at CBS and after working for AIESEC some years I went on a traineeship to the Philippines. It all played an important role for my later business career as leader working for international companies.

Initiatives | Scandinavian Events As a region, AIESEC in each of the Scandinavian countries share similar opportunities, challenges and camaraderie. Therefore twice a year, Norway, Sweden and Denmark (along with Iceland and Finland in the summer) join together to work on regional ties and leadership development unparalleled in the AIESEC global network

ScaLDS - Scandinavian Leadership Development Seminar 2009: Copenhagen, Denmark

2010: Helsinki, Finland

ScaLDS, held annually in August, is the first chance for the new leadership teams from Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Iceland and Finland in order to decide how to approach the upcoming year as a region. Additionally it is the opportunity for regional input for the national teams to take to the global plenary at the largest international conference in the network – International Congress – which directly follows ScaLDS. For 4 days, leaders from local and national level share knowledge and experience on a diverse range of topics including organisational development, team building, time management, virtual leadership, motivating volunteers as well as seeking out cross border project collaborations.

UNITE 2010: Lund, Sweden 2011: Copenhagen, Denmark One of the distinguishing features of AIESEC as an organisation is the yearly turnover of all executive body positions at local, national and international level. In the period of December-January throughout the 110 countries comprising the global network, elections are held to determine the new national president of each country. In 2009, Denmark and Sweden decided to make the unprecedented decision to host a joint election conference and further strengthen regional ties. The conference was such a success, that in 2010 it was decided to expand the conference to include Norway as well. 200 delegates from the three countries came together in Copenhagen to participate in the first ever triple election.

Initiatives| National Events Each year AIESEC Denmark hosts 3 national summits as an integral part of ensuring continuity of operations and development of the membership. Hosted in October, April and June, these conferences are focused on giving the members of AIESEC Denmark a national perspective as well as hands on leadership development and the ability to come together to identify challenges and collectively devise solutions to move the national operations forward.

CITIUS

Citius, held annually in October, is the first national meeting of AIESEC Denmark for the year. This is the first chance for the new members of AIESEC Denmark to gain an insight into the national operations and learn important skills so that they may not only contribute to the country, but also start their own personal development journey. This conference allows the country to come together and evaluate the initial progress made during the first 3 months of the year long term, share success stories and also adjust national strategies if necessary to attain the national goals for the remainder of the year.

FORTIUS

Fortius, held annually in April, is the last meeting of the year involving the entire membership of AIESEC Denmark. This conference is a mixed platform where existing members consider their next steps in or out of the organisation, new members are introduced to the organisation and newly elected leaders take their first steps of knowledge transition in order to take over at the beginning of July. This is also the space where achievements that have been made throughout the year are recognised in the annual awards ceremony.

Relay Relay, held annually in June, is a transitional conference for the national leadership body. This conference is where the events, programs and strategies of the closing year are evaluated and new goals and initiatives are planned for all entities for the upcoming year.

Initiatives | Local Events Internationals in Danish Business Life Executives of more than 30 Danish and International companies came together in October 2010 to discuss the topic of “Internationals in Danish Business Life”. The event hosted by AIESEC CBS sought to open the dialogue on whether Danish companies (and Denmark itself) are well positioned to take the lead in a global market if they are closed to international talent? Key speakers included Claus Bondam, Mayor of Copenhagen, who talked about the city’s efforts to make integration of foreigners easier, and Henning Therkelsen from Omada A/S, who highlighted how top Danish talent is attracted to established companies, where international talent are more open to work for smaller Danish start ups. Throughout the event key partners of AIESEC CBS such as Omada A/S and Hempel A/S, testified the value of the AIESEC global exchange program for its ability to not only connect Danish companies with key international talent, Henning Therkelsen but also to address the regularly identified challenge of Chief Opperating Officer, Omada A/S cultural integration of internationals into Danish society.

“International workers do enjoy living in Denmark, but the cold networking and struggle to fully integrate into society makes them leave as soon as another opportunity appears in their path” -- Craig Till, manager of Expat in Denmark

Cross-Cultural Day In March 2011, students, professionals, and professors joined together for a day of exploring the issues and challenges associated with cross-cultural management, in an event organised by AIESEC Aarhus, ASB Alumni and InterResource. Cross-Cultural Day’s delegates challenged their world views through presentations of different experiences, simulations and workshops – some in lecture style for all participants, and others in smaller groups targeted to different interests within the field of cross-cultural management. The event created a setting for cross-cultural interaction and international networking, and was closed with a global village hosted by AIESEC Aarhus, where participants could visit stands and try foods and dances from a variety of different countries. 34: AIESEC Denmark Annual Report 2009-2011

Initiatives| Local Events Innovation Day Innovation Day is a 24 hour case competition for students at schools of higher education held both in Odense and Aarhus. The participants compete in coming up with the best innovative solution for an actual issue which an organization within the business community is currently facing. Between 2009 and 2011, Innovation Day has taken place four times with more than 300 participants, representing a great variety of study backgrounds. The events were hosted with support from IDEA House, Venture Cup, Studenterhus Aarhus, Studentervæksthus Aarhus, and InterResource. Case holders have included Randers Municipalit, FaaborgMidtfyn Municipality and Insights Nordics. So successful have been the Innovation Days, that it sparked a spin off case competition for Daloon A/S aptly named Daloon Day.

“Randers municipality won in two ways. First we will try to use the ideas from the winning project. We can also implement some of the good concepts from the other contributions. Second of all I think Randers municipality won as a case holder, because being part of the Innovation day enabled us to meet big group of young people.” -- Kim Kofod Hansen Head of Business and Development in Randers Municipality

Shuttle to Business: First Stop - KPMG At this event, which took place in April 2011, 24 students from various university backgrounds visited KPMG’s Aarhus head quarters. During the day, the participants learned about modern leadership, defined their own views on good leadership, while doing workshops and role play activities. The event was successful, with a company that was highly involved, professional, and understood the participants. The delivery of the event by KPMG and AIESEC Aarhus in turn inspired the participants, who immediately after the event were already asking for more.

Initiatives | National Projects Partnership with Efterskoleforeningen In 2010 a partnership was created with the Danish Efterskoleforeningen, or Boarding Schools, to bring interns from around the world to explore the topics of human rights, racism and cultural integration with Danish students. The project, originally started by AIESEC CBS, went national in the first year with 10 interns arriving in September 2010 from countries including Singapore, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic and Italy. Over six weeks the interns travelled to 10 Efterskoles throughout Denmark. The project enjoyed such a high success that it has been confirmed to continue in 2011.

The Youth to Business Forum provides talented youth and companies with the opportunity to connect with each other and find innovative solutions for current challenges. During the 2010/11 year the Youth to Business Forum connected more than 400 students with selection of Danish and multinational companies in discussions ranging from current challenges in the corporate sector to global issues. Among the participants were Vice President of IBM Denmark Kim Ă˜strup who talked about globalisation & private companies global responsibilities and Business Manager of Insights Denmark Tom Fisker Jørgensen who talked about self understanding as the way to create results.

AIESEC’s Supporters | Board of Trustees Exactly 40 years ago - after having finalized my bachelor degree from Copenhagen Business School – I realized what AIESEC is about. During four months I worked and lived in South Africa on an AIESEC internship, with a job in a big mining company and stayed with a family. Working in a country with colleagues, discussing and experiencing their values, living in a family where thoughts could be exchanged, meetings with South African and AIESEC students from around the world – I realized that the ultimate perspective of AIESEC – is to make this world of ours – a better world! Two years ago I started as a member of the Board of Trustees and felt immediately – that even though many things had changed in the world and with AIESEC – the same spirit still exists. The enthusiasm and energy from young people dedicated to provide students around the world with professional experiences from working in companies in different cultures still adds to perspective of creating a better world for all of us. During the last two years the Board of Trustees has remained having focus on consolidation and strengthening of its governance and core activities. We are delighted that the establishment of the AIESEC Foundation has been finalized during the year - in a manner where the Foundation builds a platform for the future. The Board of the Foundation has been elected and starting with the coming AIESEC year the Foundation will be operational. It is our hope and our aspiration that united efforts will be directed in securing AIESEC that the Foundation will be such a platform for the future. In the coming year we will also focus on initiatives securing that all the passion for AIESEC rested in the AIESEC Alumni network – is being brought into action – whatever form that might be! The board of Trustees is united in sharing the vision that the passion we all have for AIESEC can bring us even further and the Board will consequently do its outmost in the coming year to bring this through. At the same time I want to thank all of you working for the AIESEC vision – for all the energy and dedication you bring into this – thereby contributing in building a better world.

AIESEC’s Supporters| Board of Foundation For more than 20 years Karrieredagene® was the main source of revenue for AIESEC Denmark. However, as the direction of AIESEC began to shift from 2005, the annual event was decreased in its relevance towards supporting the overall objectives of the organisation. In 2008, Karrieredagene® was sold for more than 7 million Danish Kroner opening the opportunity for AIESEC Denmark to invest in new activities. In order to oversee the investment of the money and to secure the long term financial stability of AIESEC Denmark, in 2009 the AIESEC Denmark Board of Foundation was formed. In the 2010-2011 year, the Board of Foundation began to work at full capacity, charged with the management of the internal and external investments of the organization made during the year. All the investments are subject to examination beforehand to ensure they do not conflict with any of the organization by-laws, memorandum or articles. The first order of business for the Board of Foundation has been backing initiatives sourced from the members of AIESEC Denmark to find “The Next Big Thing” that will generate long term income for the organisation. All possibilities and options are being equally weighed upon and tested with the support of the Management Body, Board of Directors and members bringing new and fresh ideas on the table. Some of the projects that have come under final scrutiny are Alumni Relations, Clean-tech Sector and Sales Culture. The Board of Foundation continues to evolve the understanding of its role and capacity with the presence of Board of Trustees and Board of Directors, and making AIESEC Denmark’s financial structure more efficient. All that has been achieved during the 2010-2011 year will go a long way in ensuring the success and stainability of AIESEC Denmark. The Board of Foundation could not have been set up without the support from dedicated individuals of the Danish Business Community who have worked hard to ensure the right structure and processes around the work of the Board of Foundation.

Governance and Accountability Governance

Stakeholder demands for good governance to evolve, so do the codes, international standards and practices according to which businesses are managed. AIESEC is not a business; however, being a nonfor-profit organisation we always lead by example and put in practice higher demands than the ones we expect from the corporate sector. Governance refers to the system by which AIESEC is directed and controlled, the goals towards which the organisation is managed and the major principles and frameworks which regulate the interaction between the Association and our stakeholders.

Governance Structure

LOCAL CHAPTERS The local chapters of AIESEC in Denmark are autonomous associations, whose membership comprises of students and new graduates; and lead by a yearly elected president and its executive vice presidents. AIESEC DENMARK Each local chapter is a member of AIESEC Denmark. The local presidents exercise the role of Directors of AIESEC Denmark and have agreed in a national framework that regulates the organisation nationally and locally: the Memorandum and Articles of the Association, and its by-laws. On a daily basis, AIESEC Denmark is managed by a yearly elected President and its executive vice president, being accountable to the Board of Directors. AIESEC Denmark is a founding member of the Foundation AIESEC International, and it is represented at the General Assembly by its President. The set of AIESEC associations in the Kingdom of Denmark is referred as AIESEC in Denmark. FRAMEWORK AIESEC in Denmark follows its Memorandum and Articles of the Association, and its bylaws; that are in accordance with the Compendium of the Foundation AIESEC International. The internal regulations of AIESEC in Denmark strictly follow Danish Law. ASSURANCE Compliance with law and regulations as well as follow-up of the National Plan and Budget is supported by a Quarterly Internal Audit and a yearly External Audit. The Internal Auditors provide independent and objective assurance, primarily within internal control and governance. They report to the Audit Subcommittee within the Board of Directors of AIESEC Denmark. The annual report and the internal controls over financial reporting processes are audited by an external auditor elected at the Annual General Meeting.

Accountability

The main body that holds the national office accountable is the Board of Trustees. The national committee members meet once every quarter with the board to present reports on the achievements compared to the goals and to get inputs to the plan.

Management Statement of the Consolidated Accounts 2009-2010 The President and the Finance Manager of AIESEC Denmark have today presented the Consolidated Accounts for all AIESEC’s activities in Denmark from July 1st 2009 to June 30th 2010. Continuously, AIESEC in Denmark works intensely towards ensuring organizational sustainability. As an organization that offers a complementary educational programme, AIESEC’s success can only be measured by the actions of its alumni. For this reason the strategies of the allocation of our resources in long-term results becomes fundamental to this success. To achieve this, we utilize our internal AIESEC Denmark Funds that support the organization in five areas: attendance of members to national and international conferences and meetings, funding a National Support Team, funding local initiatives towards the development of issue based projects, improvement of local offices infrastructure and funding of national conferences. During this financial year AIESEC Denmark successfully created a Board of Foundation which will exist to control and thereby protect the money generated from the previous year’s sale of Karrieredagene®. They are in charge of the investments made during this year. The Board of Foundation could not have been set up without the support from dedicated individuals who have worked hard to ensure the right structure and processes around work of the Board of Foundation.

Accounting Practice

Accounting Foundation The accounts are submitted in accordance with AIESEC Denmark’s Memorandum & Articles of the Association, its bylaws, Danish Law and good general accounting practice. Consolidation The accounts are the consolidated accounts for AIESEC Denmark, AIESEC AAU, AIESEC ASB, AIESEC UNI, AIESEC SDU, AIESEC CBS and AIESEC UNIC. Material assets Property and equipment are recorded at its purchasing price and are depreciated over 3 years. Material assets for a value below DKK 10,000.00 (ten thousand) are recorded as current expenditures. Bonds and other financial assets To a limited extent AIESEC owns financial assets; they are recorded as Investments under assets. The value of the assets is recorded at market value as of June 30th 2010 and any profit is recorded in the Statement of Financial Results under Assets – Gains. Provisions AIESEC in Denmark, according to its bylaws, allocates a percentage of the fees paid by the organizations participating in the Exchange Programme. This provision shall not be used for any other purpose than to facilitate the integration of interns into Danish society and expand their knowledge of Danish culture and language. We consider these Consolidated Accounts to be a true and fair picture of the financial situation of AIESEC in Denmark as well as the result of its activities. Copenhagen, February 9th 2011

Line Dahl Pedersen Financial Manager 2009-2010 41: AIESEC Denmark Annual Report 2009-2011

Management Statement of the Consolidated Accounts 2010-2011 The President and the Finance Manager of AIESEC Denmark have today presented the Consolidated Accounts for all AIESEC’s activities in Denmark from July 1st 2010 to June 30th 2011. Continuously, AIESEC in Denmark works intensely towards ensuring organizational sustainability. As an organization that offers a complementary educational program, AIESEC’s success can only be measured by the actions of its alumni. For this reason the strategies of the allocation of our resources in long-term sustainable results becomes fundamental to our success. To further progress in this direction, we utilize our internal AIESEC Denmark Funds that support the organization in five areas: attendance of members to national and international conferences and meetings, funding a National Support Team, funding local initiatives towards the development of exchange projects and improvement of local entities infrastructure. The AIESEC Denmark foundation exists to control, and thereby protect, the money generated from the sale of Karrieredagene® in the past and have therefore been in charge of the internal & external investments of the organization made during this year. All investments are carefully examined beforehand to ensure they do not conflict with any of the organization by-laws, memorandum or articles. Conference improvements have been a big focus this year and the process has now been strengthened. As a result the logistics of the national conferences are now the responsibilities of the local offices, ensuring a long term planning of each conference and a financially more stable conference. Investments in new projects have been made. The projects are planned and executed by the national team and the local offices and the goal is to ensure a steady income for AIESEC Denmark as an addition to our exchange and other sales. Financial stability has been a big topic on the agenda for this year and stronger financial processes have been implemented which is expected to be reflected in next years result. Education and training for everyone involved in finances has increased and the basic knowledge is now greater leading to an increase in quality of the work done by the finances. It is needless to say that the Board of Foundation could not have been set up without the support from dedicated individuals who have worked hard to ensure the right structure and processes around work of the Board of Foundation.

48: AIESEC Denmark Annual Report 2009-2011

Independent Auditor’s Report To the Board of Directors of AIESEC Denmark We have audited the Financial Statements for the financial period 1 July 2009 – 30 June 2011, which comprises management’s statement of the consolidated account, accounting practice, income statement, balance sheet and notes. The Financial Statements are prepared in accordance with the Danish Financial Statements Act. Management’s Responsibility for the Financial Statements Management is responsible for the preparation of Financial Statements that give a true and fair view in accordance with the Danish Financial Statements Act, and for such internal control as Management determines is necessary to enable the preparation of Financial Statements that are free from material misstatement, whether due to fraud or error. Auditor’s Responsibility Our responsibility is to express an opinion on the Financial Statements based on our audit. We conducted our audit in accordance with International Standards on Auditing and additional requirements under Danish audit regulation. This requires that we comply with ethical requirements and plan and perform the audit to obtain reasonable assurance whether the Financial Statements are free from material misstatement. An audit involves performing audit procedures to obtain audit evidence about the amounts and disclosures in the Financial Statements. The procedures selected depend on the auditor’s judgment, including the assessment of the risks of material misstatement of the Financial Statements, whether due to fraud or error. In making those risk assessments, the auditor considers internal control relevant to the Company’s preparation of Financial Statements that give a true and fair view in order to design audit procedures that are appropriate in the circumstances, but not for the purpose of expressing an opinion on the effectiveness of the Company’s internal control. An audit also includes evaluating the appropriateness of accounting policies used and the reasonableness of accounting estimates made by Management, as well as evaluating the overall presentation of the Financial Statements. We believe that the audit evidence we have obtained is sufficient and appropriate to provide a basis for our audit opinion. The audit has not resulted in any qualification. Opinion In our opinion, the Financial Statements give a true and fair view of the financial position of AIESEC Denmark at 30 June 2011 and of the results of AIESEC Denmark’s operations for the financial period 1 July 2009 - 30 June 2011 in accordance with the Danish Financial Statements Act.
