Message from Local Committee President, 2011-12 Dear Stakeholder’s of AIESEC IIT Kharagpur, It gives me immense pleasure in introducing to you all, the first ever stakeholder report of AIESEC IIT Kharagpur. The report contains a brief account of the activities which AIESEC IIT Kharagpur has undertaken till now in 2011 and is planning to conduct till December 2011. The report is also a means of interacting more with you so that we can get the best possible input from our stakeholders and can ensure better client servicing. Also through this report we plan to present you all further opportunities to interact with us so that we can collectively create a positive impact on the Society. Coming to the current scenario of AIESEC IIT Kharagpur, we have progressed hugely since last year, after becoming an independent local entity of AIESEC India in January, 2011. We are having a healthy membership of 60 young individuals of IIT Kharagpur who are proactively working on various projects and events in the organization. In terms of activities and projects we have come up with some path breaking initiatives for the student of IIT Kharagpur. We initiated a project called Aarohan, in Jamshedpur on Rural development, conducted an event called Balakalakaar involving 550 NGO Kids and have started running research projects with foreign interns under IIT Kharagpur’s esteemed faculty. In October we are coming up with a unified forum for youth and corporates to come and interact and discuss innovation and corporate sustainability. The event will be called Youth to Business Summit 2011. I would request you all to go through the report and any kind of feedback or support from your side in any of our activities would be really appreciated. Key Highlights January – August, 2011 AIESEC IIT Kharagpur came up with many initiatives this year which have helped us improving our processes, engage the membership in a better manner and to foster innovation at the whole organization level. Some of the key things which happened this year till now are as follows: January Local Congress: A platform to train, engage and reward the membership of AIESEC IIT Kharagpur. The Congress happened in Ghatshila and continued for 2 days on from 14th – 16th January, 2011. Various executive body members of last year took sessions on sales, project development and finance for the membership. Also the top performers of last year were rewarded for their efforts. February Recruitments:We recruit 2 times in 1 academic calendar year. Our February recruitments were really successful as it contained a Global Village during our information seminar and also an interactive session by BIG 92.7 FM. We had 200+ people applying for recruitments out of which 28 were selected to be a part of the organization. Annual General Meeting: The first annual general meeting of AIESEC IIT Kharagpur took place on 12th February, 2011 and was chaired by AIESEC India Vice President, Incoming Exchange for Corporate Sector. The AGM consisted of the successful discharge of the outgoing Executive Body along with the ratification of the current Executive Bodies plan’s for the year. Exchange Participant Induction Conference: 30 students who were preparing to go to Summer Exchange through AIESEC were inducted into the organization and taught about the ways to get the best experience through their internship and how to manage the culture shock. LEAD Program for Leaders of the Organization: We also started training our leadership body through the AIESEC LEAD Program so as to help them become better leaders in the future and to give them proper resources and tasks for their leadership experience. Student Ambassador Program Kickstart: We realized our first intern from Russia under Prof. A. Routray of Electrical Engineering, IIT Kharagpur. This marked the start of our new initiative called Student Ambassador Program under which we plan to create opportunities for foreign students for research under IIT professors and pave way for cross cultural innovation and research. June National Conference, 2011: AIESEC IIT Kharagpur witnessed the biggest AIESEC National Conference of the year, June National Conference, 2011. Ten delegates represented IIT Kharagpur in the AIESEC INDIA National Plenary which was a great learning experience for all of them. Learning sessions by AOL India, Indian School of Business Hyderabad, Coca Cola, Facebook and India Today were the key highlights of the conference.

Project Aarohan: 9 trainees from countries like China, South Korea, Tunisia, Afghanistan and Russia were a part of Project Aarohan which was based on rural development in Jamshedpur and included workshops by interns impacting 350+ people on various topics like HIV AIDS, Career Counseling, Women Empowerment, Chikungunya and Viral fever. Balakalakaar 1.0: Balakalakaar was a unique event conducted by AIESEC IIT KHARAGPUR that aimed at bringing out the artist in every child. A painting competition with a participation of 550 children, 15 NGOs was organized at JRD Tata Sports Complex, Jamshedpur on the occasion of the 62nd Birthday of JRD Tata. The winners of the competition received a scholarship for 4 years by Jamshedpur School of Arts. It also included performances by kids. Global Village: Global Village is a unique event of AIESEC which serves as a platform for showcasing the cultural extravaganza of countries across the globe. 5 countries including China, South Korea, Tunisia, USA and UK showcased their culture and way of life. Results of an Essay Competition conducted by AIESEC were also declared. August Recruitment Seminar: AIESEC conducted its Bi-annual Recruitment Information Seminar on 27th July, 2011. 900+ students witnessed the seminar out of which 40 were selected to be a part of this organization.

Water Treatment Research Project
Theme: To address the water issue in the campus and come up with a feasible solutions involving international ideas in collaboration with the students and professors of IIT Kharagpur Departments planned to be involved: Biotechnology, Civil and Chemical Engineering. Timeline: To be on the same lines as Energy Audit. Starting in January and finishing in April with a presentation to all the faculty and administration of IIT Kharagpur.
