It’s all about the EP Journey The Exchange Participants will go on a journey of Leadership Development. They are expected to embark on an experience that will help them learn more about themselves, challenge their values, realize who they really are, know what they are the most passionate about and what matters most in their lives. All this is done by putting into good practice the facilitation of the Outer Journey through the Exchange Experience in general and the Inner Journey through LEAD for EPs, for the sole purpose of developing the EP’s Leadership Qualities.
Exchange Experience
LEAD for EPs
Why is EP LEAD important EP LEAD will allow the exchange participants to understand the importance of self-discovery for a better leadership improvement, setting personal goals, reflecting on the exchange experience, understanding personal values all these in order to achieve self-reinvention.
REFLECT
UNDERSTAND
DEVELOP
Create a platform to reflect, understand and develop leadership
Explore the leadership potential of each single exchange participant
Creating quality EPs that will re-integrate back into TMP-TLP
From an AIESEC perspective, our clear purpose revolves around customer centricity and how we can deliver proper leadership experiences to our customers as we promised. EP LEAD implementation is the key factor to ensure that every customer goes through a leadership journey, and a strong step that will make us focus on Value Delivery, bringing our entity closer to a 100% Customer Flow Implementation.
How to implement LEAD for EPs? To ensure the effective implementation of LEAD for EPs, we need to understand the exact timeline of the EP’s Journey. This applies from when an EP signs up for an opportunity, to when they check in and check out in the new environment, summing things up to:
- Before EP leaves
- While EP is abroad - When EP returns
Before EP leaves One to One Mentoring One to One and Virtual Spaces for EP’s Education and Coaching towards their Exchange and AIESEC.
OPS (Ongoing Preparation Seminar) Provide Conferences & Seminars for EP’s leadership development and preparation, S&S, expectation settings and final logistics preparation. The framework of the OPS can be as followed: - AIESEC way, Standards and Expectations Setting - Leadership Development Session: depending on the LDA. - Personal Goal Setting : guiding the EPs through the goal setting process, and how to be accountable and decisive to achieve them. - LEAD Session: a session to ensure leadership development understanding for the EPs, providing them with a space for actions and reflection about their selves and leadership.
While the EP is abroad EP Journal Introducing the concept of the “EP Journal” a personal journal for the EPs to fill, where they can reflect on their experience, and keep a tag on their development via Virtual LEAD Spaces. You can have One to One Mentoring sessions with them to discuss the content of the Journal and cogitate about the whole experience. This will allow you a constant communication flow with your EPs, to keep in touch with them on a regular basis and to ensure the experience is going smooth and the EPs leadership is being developed - The EP Journal is a continuance to the LEAD for EP before he leaves, it contains elements set by the EP during the OPS (Goal Setting, LDA, Leadership Values Check…ect). - The journal can be a prepared booklet with guidelines, a virtual space, or just an online tool (spreadsheet, survey…ect).
When EP returns Re-integration Seminar The reintegration seminar doesn’t have for purpose recruiting previous EPs, but to evaluate their Leadership journey after the exchange experience by the mean of Conferences & Seminars and Individual Discovery and Reflection LEAD Spaces. Some of the major topics of this seminar are Introspection (leadership evaluation), Self-awareness and values ( the influence of this experience on the EP) and Personal Growth (how will this experience help the EP in the future). The framework can be as followed: - Check out Session: where the EPs will re-take the LDA and compare results. - Reflection spaces (LEAD) : to check the development of the EPs throughout the journey. (reflection on realizations). - Goal Setting Review: linked to the previous EP goal setting session. - Storytelling/ Feedback - AIESEC Opportunities: present opportunities available in AIESEC, how will they be moving forward with this experience.

Co-delivery is the Key Before the implementation of EP LEAD itself, the most important thing that must be amplified is Co-delivery. Co-delivery is a more concrete way to do co-operations in order to provide more and better experiences (based on implementing EP LEAD of both Home and Host entities). Some of the co-operations that can be implemented: - OPS and IPS alignment: this will allow a better expectation setting and a good preparation for the EP to start his journey. - One EP Journal: you should check if the HOST Entity does require an EP Journal, if it’s the case, you should have the same Journal. This will also allow you the check if the HOST Entity is doing LEAD for Trainees.
