Bandar Lampung is the capital and largest city of Lampung the southern-most province on the island of Sumatra. The city acts as an inter-island hub and main gateway to Sumatra from Java. As the fourth largest city in Sumatra, Bandarlampung plays a pivotal role in the development and economic activities of the island. Located approximately 165 kms northwest of Jakarta. The province that has quite differsified natural resources and culture since prehistoric ages is bordered by Java Sea on the east, Sunda strait on the south, Indonesia Ocean on the west and South Sumatera and Bengkulu provinces on the north. The province is strategic that makes it the gate of Sumatera and a tangible hub of Java and Sumatera including the movement of population. Therefore the province becomes so pluralism and is called as the Miniature of Indonesia. Besides, Lampung province has potential resources such as agriculture, plantation, fishery, mining and mineral, forestry, and other geographic landmarks like conservation forests, volcanoes etc. Coastal areas with white sand and clean beaches highlight the potential of tourism objects and activities. The coastal areas become the center of fishermen and private business in fishery, hatchery and other marine products 5
City Geography of Bandar Lampung Bandar Lampung city with an area of 197.22 km ² or 19 722 hectares composed of 13 districts and 98 villages. Bandar Lampung is geographically located at 50 20 'and 50 30' south latitude and 1050 28 'to 1050 37' east longitude. The layout is located on the Bay of Lampung at the southern tip of the island of Sumatra.
Bandar Lampung topography is very diverse, ranging from coastal plains to the hills to mountainous, with altitudes between 0 to 500 m area with hilly topography finite stretches from the mountainous West to East with the highest peak on Mount Betong West and Mount Dibalau and hills stone Serampok eastward. Earthquake in Bandar Lampung happen because it is prone to earthquakes because of its location on the so-called Pacific "Ring of Fire," an arc of volcanoes and fault lines encircling the Pacific Basin. Flooding and erosion are major problems for Bandar Lampung due to deforestation, increasing construction, sea level rise, and insufficient drainage capacity. Despite its location at the confluence of several water ways, drought is also a problem for the city.

Culture The origin of Bandar Lampung People is came from Lampung People or Lampungnese, one of many ethnics in Indonesia. Most people in Bandar Lampung speak Bahasa Indonesia. From their culture, Lampungnese people has some traditional dance called Tari Siger Pengunten (sembah), Tari Bedana, Tari Melinting, Tari Merak and Tari Cangget Lampung and traditional music instruments such as Kelintang Lampung, Talo or Rebana.

CITY FACILITIES City Public Transportation a. Angkot Angkutan Kota or abbreviated as Angkot or Oplet is actually a car, usually either a Daihatsu Carry or Toyota Kijang, with the interior re-designed to give more space for passengers to seat. By doing this, an Angkot can carry up to 11 people at a time. Angkot is used as a mode of transportation in most of the cities in Indonesia. Different routes can be easily recognized from the color of the car. You may not want to bring anything valuable when traveling by angkot because pickpockets are very common. When you are ready to get off, you can tell the driver "Stop Kiri" which means stop at the left side.

Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) is a newly developed bus transportation system in Bandar Lampung. The buses is still quite new and the fare is relatively cheap, only about Rp 4,000/trip. Sometimes buses stop in some available sideroad bus stops, but while other bus stops are being built, buses usually stop at roadside walkways that have been labeled as BRT Stop. Some corridors of Bandar Lampung BRT include: Rajabasa-Sukaraja (a main terminal for buses), Korpri-Sukaraja, Kemiling-Sukaraja, Tanjungkarang-Ir. Sutami, Rajabasa-Citra Garden (a housing block), and Panjang-Citra Garden.

INTER-CITY PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION The distance between Soekarno Hatta International Airport (in Jakarta) to Bandar Lampung is around 260 km. There are 2 options for you after arrive in Soekarno-Hatta Airport in Jakarta and continue your trip to Bandar Lampung :
1. Plane First, you can buy a flight ticket from Jakarta to Bandar Lampung. You can buy it on internet by using Lion air (www.lionair.co.id) or Sriwijaya Air (www.sriwijayaair.co.id). Or you can buy the flight ticket when you arrive in Jakarta, but it’s not good idea, because sometimes the flight ticket is sold. The price of commuting (goback) by using these companies roughly 1.000.000 IDR. By using plane, it spends 45 minutes to Bandar Lampung. Your air plane will land at Raden Inten II (Branti) Airport at Lampung. So, using plane can make you arrive to Bandar Lampung quickly, more comfortable and safe. I suggest you to get on the plane than travel car because of the advantages of using a plane.

You can use PURNAGAMA TRAVEL. You have to call the travel after you buy Indonesia number (022) 76300900. The price is cheap, it’s about 240 IDR . By using Purnagama Travel, It spends approximately 12-14 hours. Why ? Because you will go to Merak harbor first, the you’ll cross The Sunda Strait (26 km). Sunda Strait is connected Java and Sumatera Island by big ship called Ferry Ship. Then you will arrive in Bakauheni harbor in Lampung Province to continue your trip to the Purnagama Travel’s Office in Bandar Lampung.

Tourism Spot a. Lampung Museum Lampung Museum is located in Z.A. Pagar Alam Street or just 5 km from the heart city of Tanjungkarang. It has 3.233 collections compiled from prehistory, Hindu, Buddha and Islamic Age. The Museum also collects local and foreign ceramic from China. We can also find the statue from Hindu-Buddhist period, household utensils from ancient time, old tapirs clothes, ancient traditional boat, war outfits etc. There we can see the ancient objects, remain of ceramic from China and Siam, or household utensils, which is from centuries ago. The museum is opened on Monday until Saturday. Taman budaya or art center is place for presenting the classical music and traditional dances of Lampung. It takes fifteen minutes to get there from center of town.

Kiluan Bay The herds of wild dolphins diving freely beneath the crystal sea, coupled with sandy white beaches nnn against a backdrop of a clear blue sky are key elements representing the unabridged natural beauty of Kiluan Bay. Kiluan is often compared to Lovina Beach in north Bali which is also known as a ‘dolphin spotting’ area. Unlike Lovina, Kiluan has two species of Dolphin, and they are much easier to spot due to their sheer number. Although obscured from spotlights, the waves at Tanjung Setia are touted as among the world's best by surfers from all over the globe, and at par with the world famous surf of Hawaii. Tanjung Setia also boasts a near virgin condition and some stunning natural beauty. The diving sites here are also legendary among dive aficionados, although nowhere near as popular as their counterparts in Manado or Bali.

d. Way Kambas National Park Located at the southern tip of Sumatra, 110 km from Bandarlampung, the Way Kambas National Park (WKNP) is one of the oldest reserves in Indonesia. It occupies 1,300 sq km of coastal lowland forest around the Way Kambas River on the east coast of the province of Lampung. WKNP is closely associated with elephants, since aside from being a sanctuary for these gentle giants, the national park is also known as their training ground. It is believed that approximately 200 Sumatran elephants (Elephas maximus sumatranensis) live within the park.
e. Krakatau Island Nature Reserve Administratively, the Krakatau Islands are located within the sub-district of Rajabasa, South Lampung, in Lampung Province on Sumatra. But, in fact they form part of the Ujung Kulon – Krakatau Nattional Park, which is recognized by UNESCO as World Heritage site. As the site of one of the most catastrophic natural disasters in the world, the Krakatau Islands are considered today as a massive natural laboratory. Encompassing a total area of 13.735,10 hectares, they comprise 11.200 hectares of marine reserves and 2.535,10 hectares of land reserves, the Krakatau Islands bear considerable importance to scientists in Geology, Biology and volcanology. For general visitors, nonetheless, the sheer view and incredible history of volcanic activities of the islands are surely something worth travelling for. 24
