The only way we can achieve this is through inspiring committed leaders that can transform our dream into a goal, and a goal into reality. We accomplish this by mobilizing young people all over the world to create a positive impact abroad, by working in a company, an NGO, or a public institution. This enables them to challenge their mindsets, learn about and respect new perspectives, and ultimately gain a deeper sense of empathy and social responsibility. Along this journey, we aim for them to develop a set of leadership skills which we believe are fundamental to achieving the ability to empower others, to be self aware and solution oriented and essentially, to be a true global citizen.

Such massive growth in only ďŹ ve years did not come without hardships along the way and many things could have been done differently and of course, there is still a long way to go to create the monumental global impact that this organisation continually strives for. Nevertheless, it is encouraging to know that the goals set in 2010 for 2015 have revolutionised our impact and expanded our limits. We are now more connected than ever to face the real challenges of our fast-paced world. These changes have unleashed both, a new perception of what it means to work for a beter future and a new generation of AIESEC members who advocate what we as

AIESEC envision to be by 2020. In 5 years from now, we want our daily activities to be creating a movement that ignites the leadership spark in young people around the world and transform our impact into an exciting and unstoppable force of positive and inextinguishable change. By shaping what we do around what the world needs and aligning it to our ambition for peace, we are embracing the biggest change initiative ever introduced, The Global Sustainable Development Goals. We are committed to taking an active role towards this agenda in the process of creating a more relevant and accessible AIESEC. We are prepared to challenge our own status quo and initiate a process of disruptive growth to make this happen. As the Global President, I could not be prouder to lead an organisation with such brave leaders who are fully committed to being the catalysts of change that the world needs: leaders who recognise that in order to fundamentally innovate AIESEC by 2020, the transformation must come from within ourselves.

AIESEC was founded in 1948 after the Second World War by a group of young people from Europe (Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Netherlands, Norway, and Sweden). Our fundamentals were shaped by the social, economic and political climate of the time.

Cross Cultural Exchanges AIESEC provides an opportunity for young people to work or volunteer abroad in non-familiar environments. AIESEC Experience and Products As part of the strategy within 2020, AIESEC refreshed the product portfolio that we offer to young people and our partners. The AIESEC Experience consists of three phases, which are: Engagement with AIESEC, Experiential Leadership Development and Lifelong Connection. In each phase, we facilitate the development of one or more Leadership Qualities within youth.

YouthSpeak Forum YouthSpeak Forum powered by AIESEC is an event run by youth for youth, that brings together both young and senior leaders to form a diverse cross-sector and multigenerational space for inspiring conversations around pressing global, national and local issues. Through these forums, we constantly strive to shape what we do around what the world needs at the local, national and global level. Global Volunteer Global Volunteer is the cross-cultural volunteer experience for young people who seek to develop themselves and the world by working on social impact projects with NGOs and organizations that contribute to any of the Sustainable Development Goals. Global Talent Global Talent provides a global internship opportunity for young people who seek to develop their career in a multi-cultural setting. AIESEC partners with organizations and companies of all sizes from diverse sectors and industries in order to create opportunities for young people from all backgrounds. Global Entrepreneur Global Entrepreneur offers an opportunity to young people interested in developing their entrepreneurial outlook to undergo a professional development experience in a start-up. This program also makes AIESEC’s talent available to and affordable for start-up organisations.

AIESEC Membership AIESEC by nature is independent and youth-run, implying that it is the members of AIESEC that make the organization run and grow each year across organizational levels. The Environment Which We Create Local Volunteer To enable a greater number of people to be engaged by AIESEC and live a short-term AIESEC experience, Local Volunteer was initiated globally this year to give a “sneak peek” into what a Global Volunteer experience looks like by allowing local youth to volunteer on a project or inside an NGO alongside Global Volunteer participants.

For our membership, we follow certain standards to ensure they are able to develop themselves in the best way. Each single member of the organization needs to be a part of a team, which has a goal and plan for how to achieve it. The job description of the member contributing to this plan, alongside with functional training, are an essential part of the environment. We as well ensure that there is a system of tracking and evaluation in place and each member has a space for his/her own leadership development.

Global Volunteer is AIESEC’s program which gives young people an opportunity to volunteer abroad in different organizations or on social impact projects that focus on the direct development of the communities around the world. Global Volunteer Program offers cross-cultural experience to young people seeking to develop themselves and the world, and the opportunity to develop global mindset, leadership and soft skills by creating direct positive impact. Our main partners are NGOs, schools and orphanages, where our global volunteers spend from 6-8 weeks working on social-based issues. From July 1st 2015 until July 1st 2016, AIESEC mobilized 30.766 young people, who travelled abroad to volunteer on social impact projects and develop themselves. They worked on more than 6,000 projects, tackling issues especially related to education, cultural understanding, sustainability and human rights.

Evolution! Over the past 5 years, our volunteering program tackled community issues that were related to all of the 8 Millennium Development Goals. In order to stay relevant to the global agenda and upscale the impact we deliver through our programs, this year we initiated the restructuring of our projects in order to align them with the Sustainable Development Goals that were collectively agreed by the member states of United Nations in September 2015. Stories of Impact: Projects contributing to the Sustainable Development Goals

Europe, Belgium, Greece, Finland, Austria, Germany, Italy, Switzerland: InteGREAT

Middle East and Africa, Egypt:

InteGREAT is the project that aims to foster the integration of refugees in European communities. By working together with NGOs and local communities, InteGREAT mobilizes young volunteers from all over Europe to contribute to the social inclusion and cultural integration of asylum-seekers and refugees. The InteGREAT initiative supports the UN Global Goals for Sustainable Development, namely Goal #10: Reduced Inequalities.

Empower This project aims to support Egypt in achieving Gender Equality, which is one of the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals (Goal #5). Gender equality is a must in order to ensure all forms of discrimination against women and girls are eliminated, and ensure equal opportunities. Through these efforts, we aim to spread awareness on the issue within the Egyptian community, as well as support women in overcoming the challenges they face on a daily basis. The project is run in partnership with a local organization that directly contributes to enhancing gender equality in Egypt.

Volunteers were facilitating teaching and recreational activities for young refugees and asylum seekers hosted by an NGO. Also they delivered workshops about the country’s social and cultural context, or language classes. Volunteers were helping give media coverage and visibility to the refugees’ stories and activities on an international level.

Americas, Mexico: Hometown Project This project supports Indonesian community in achieving Good Health and Well-being, which is one of the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals (Goal #3). Currently 10-16% adults globally experience the symptoms of kidney disease. In Indonesia, kidney failure is the 4th largest leading cause of death. The habit of consuming water is one way to maintain healthy kidneys. Through the Hometown Project, AIESEC in Indonesia together with its partner DANONE Aqua strived to help its members together international volunteers and young Indonesians to care for the healthiness of society with activities that can raise the importance of water consumption, kidney health, and a healthy lifestyle.

Somos Project The project of “Somos México” emerged as an idea to attack a major problem in the city of Monterrey, which is discrimination. The project goal was to reduce inequalities that indigenous women suffered and to achieve this, they were going to give out entrepreneurship workshops,

Our next Mid-term Ambition: AIESEC 2020 and Global Roadmap

Shaping what we do around the world needs: Being aware of global and local issues, we act quickly to respond to them by offering powerful leadership experiences. We collaborate with like-minded organizations that, like us, strive for a better world. Through this, we take part in global and local decision making processes.

From a youth-led organization to a Youth Leadership Movement term ambition is a milestone towards our vision which we set each 5 years. It took two years to set up this process that enabled our vastly diverse organization to come together to that image of what we want to become for the world. Using Future Search as method to create this ambition, AIESEC 2020 was born. AIESEC 2020 represents the dreams of thousands of AIESECers that came together to create our next mid-term ambition, from the 900 delegates present at the International Congress in India (August 2015), to the more than 10.000 young people from all over the AIESEC network who participated virtually. We were able to put together a process that by including as many perspectives as possible allowed us to create a future image of the kind of organization we want to become, the kind of youth movement we will be.

Growing disruptively: Doing the same things is not enough to one day engage and develop every young person in the world. ways to grow faster and be better. AIESEC Declaration on Sustainable Development Goals In December 2015, AIESEC’s young global leaders and representatives from 126 countries and territories gathered at the United Nations Headquarters to promote and drive youth participation in the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals. Taking into account: The desire of AIESEC’s global membership and strategic partners to embrace the Sustainable Development Goals;

AIESEC Youth Action Summit The AIESEC Youth Action Summit was held between the 9th and the 11th of December 2015 in the UN headquarters in New York with the goal of calling the youth to focus on the impact post 2015-agenda. The participants took a deeper look into the state of the world as well as the impact of the Millennium Development Goals, and they became able to grasp the potential of the Sustainable Development Goals and role that each stakeholder plays in it, especially young people. The participants were: More than 120 AIESEC country directors and volunteers ensuring the support of the organization towards the Goals, Youth ministries and UN representatives supporting the organizations and general youth for making the world a better place, Business leaders providing the knowledge and resources for the projects which support the Global Goals Academic leaders pointing out the importance of higher education in empowering youth Civil Society Representatives co-creating meaningful partnerships and collaborate for positive impact.

The Conference in a nutshell: The United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals are an ambitious

The delegates understood the present and the current state of the world and came up with trends shaping it, statistics, potential dangers and solutions. Speakers included the United Nations Deputy-Secretary General Jan Eliasson and Envoy on Youth, Mr. Ahmad Alhendawi who highlighted the central role of young people to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals, noting that next General’s Envoy on Youth will be launching a Global Youth Partnership

for SDGs for young people to take action and showcase best practices. Furthermore, Mitchell Toomey from United Nations Millennium Campaign, Nora Wu Global Capital Leader of PWC, Christopher Ian Morris Head of NGO and Civil Society Center of ADB, Douglas Ranan of UN Habitat, Henrik Sundström, Vice President, Group Sustainability Affairs of Electrolux, Sergio Fernandez de Cordova CEO of PVBLIC, Philip Chlotier from Barret Values Centre, who all approached the challenges and opportunities of the current global context, and provided key elements on how to engage youth, private sector and the public sectors to achieve the sustainable development goals. Finally several workshops were held to shape the above described challenges into collaborative projects among different sectors of society business, government, civil society, and youth with the focus on the needs of the world and the Sustainable Development Goals. Finally, the delegates looked into how to implement projects, partnerships and new initiatives regionally, nationally and locally. The Media were there publicizing the outcomes and strategizing on how to engage the public in a way that generates ownership of them and the Sustainable Development Goals. At the end, AIESEC launched its commitment and contribution towards the Sustainable Development Goals - a commitment of young people to make the Global Goals happen.

World Merit: is a platform for young global citizens who work hard collaboratively to make the world better. World Merit strives to connect talent with opportunity, and supports young people to reach their fullest potential.

CHINESE YOUTH SHARED ITS OPINION The “Live Out the Colorful” campaign was launched by AIESEC in the Mainland of China in coorperation with Tropicana in May, 2016. The campaign was targeted at young people to lead their lives with positivity and gained support of numerous superstars. The campaign gained massive momentum on Weibo and within 192 hours crossed over 10 million hits.

JUSTIN TRUDEAU’S MESSAGE TO AIESEC Justin Trudeau sent a personal video message to the delegates of Canada Youth to Business Forum. In his message, he emphasised on the role that young people play in shaping the future of the world and the support that they should be given to make accessible tools and opportunities that will help them create a better world. The Prime Minister’s message was highly encouraging not only for AIESECers in Canada but, globally, and the video was widely shared on social media.

UPGRADE YOUR WORLD As part of the Windows 10 global launch activities at the end of July, Microsoft launched the Upgrade Your World initiative. AIESEC in Kenya was successful in receiving the grant of $500,000 by Microsoft after having in organisational improvements that enable them to upscale their impact.

AIESEC AWARDED FOR THE REFUGEE PROJECT IN ITALY AIESEC Italy was awarded with the European Charlemagne Prize for its Project InteGREAT. The project gives volunteering opportunities to young people from around the world who organize programs to integrate refugees into the society.

This event implied an extra investment which was greatly supported by our partners, ADB, PwC and Electrolux, and resulted in AIESEC formally committing to mobilize youth into action for the SDGs, providing a space for youth to learn and express their views on the matter and connecting the organization with major political

actors and world organizations. The costs associated to this new event account for the increase in Meeting and conferences expenses. Another special development was the creation and launch of Youth for Global Goals (Y4GG) initiative, which aims to generate awareness and understanding of the SDGs, gather and share youth’s views through the YouthSpeak Survey, raise youth’s voice and connect with other organizations through YouthSpeak Forums and create exchange projects that are directed towards the achievement of the SDGs. The corporate sponsorship increased this term after a decrease last term. The goal was to have €677,240 in revenue and we surpassed our goal, obtaining €703,415.29. This reflects the hard work put into maintaining and strengthening the partnerships left by previous terms, upscaling and renegotiating some partnerships, offering new opportunities for partners to contribute and benefit from, and engaging new organizations to work with us. We focused on obtaining more strategic partnerships that can contribute in different ways, not only to our operations, but also to AIESEC’s growth and the fulfillment of our vision, while leaving partnerships that will benefit future terms. The ADB partnership, PwC’s GCDP sponsorship and Electrolux’s SDGs projects are examples of this. A financial managerial decision was made to write off all bad debts that had accumulated during previous terms and that were not going to be recuperated (payments we were not going to receive), which added up to

€69,136.78. These prior terms adjustments decrease 1516’s revenues but give a clean start for the Global Office for the next term. Nevertheless, we were able to obtain a profit after recognizing that significant “expense”. Many organizations across the world are turning to AIESEC to provide high quality internationally mobile talent, and many students are taking the opportunity to gain some international work experience through AIESEC before looking for full time employment or becoming entrepreneurs themselves. Our organization is experiencing unprecedented levels of growth currently achieving 37,483 international internships, - 30,826 in our Global Community Development Programme and 6,657 in our Global Internship Program. AIESEC also provided Team Leadership and Team Member Experiences for over 50,000 young people in the year which ended 31 May 2015. AIESEC has a membership of around 70,000 students and recent graduates from around the world. AIESEC currently has 122 Member Committees and Contracted Units. It is present with initiatives in another 9 countries and territories.
