PROJECT SNAPSHOT Project Name: iGreen Location: Bandung, Indonesia Duration: 6 weeks Issue Segment: Environment

PROJECT OVERVIEW iGreen focuses on raising awareness about the environment to the local communities in Bandung, Indonesia. Exchange participants will undertake a variety of tasks including school roadshows, orphanage roadshow, village visit and visiting some NGOs. They will also have the opportunity to undertaken hands-on activities by visiting some rural areas such as farms and landfills to gain a better understanding of the current condition of Bandung. They will implement what they have learnt by education high school students, orphanage kids and village neighbourhoods about sustainable environmental practice and to create environmental campaigns.

PROJECT SNAPSHOT Project Name: Harvesting Future Leaders Location: Jakarta, Indonesia Duration: 6-8 weeks Issue Segment: Education

PROJECT OVERVIEW global mindset and good values within children in Indonesia. Exchange participants will be responsible for teaching English classes for three days in a week and conducting cultural sessions for children and students aged from six to eighteen. They will also be working collaboratively with a local NGO in order to create ideas for fundraising once a week so that more children can benefit from learning English. This project is an excellent opportunity for exchange participants to interact with students of various ages and to make an impact by sharing their own experiences and to create the right mindset so that they can grow up to be future leaders.

INCOMING PREPARATION SEMINAR (IPS)

STUDY TOUR (ENVIRONMENT SITES)

A seminar is held to provide exchange participants information about the culture and basic way of living in Bandung, Indonesia. Advice is provided on strategies to overcome culture shock and this is the first opportunity to get to know the AIESEC local committee in Bandung and the other exchange participants in the project.

Exchange participants will visit different environment sites around Bandung to experience the real situation in Bandung. This includes a protected rainforest, local waste management system, landfills, farms and more. Exchange participants will have the opportunity to undertake hands on activities such as urban farming, cleaning and plantation.

2 | TRAINING FOR TRAINEE (TFT)

5 | VILLAGE VISIT

TFT is a training event that equips exchange participants with the adequate knowledge about the Indonesian environment and skills needed to perform well in the activities throughout the project. The aim of this is to ensure that exchange participants have the correct understanding before directly undertaking activities to raise social and environmental awareness.

Exchange participants will visit some villages and educate people within the village to live a green life by teaching them basic environmental practices. They will also learn about the local culture within this village and also share their own culture in order to increase cultural awareness. Exchange participants will also have to create an environment event for the kids in the neighbourhood.

3 | NGO VISIT

Exchange participants will visit NGOs to gain knowledge about environmental issues. They will use this information learnt as sharing material in the village visits, orphanage roadshow and school roadshow later on in the project.

Exchange participants will visit orphanages and schools to introduce green life and the importance of protecting the environment. They will use the knowledge from TFT and NGO visit to plan a great experience for the orphans and school students. They will also have the opportunity to run sessions to share their own culture in an engaging and easy to understand manner.

COST BREAKDOWN The Global Citizen Program requires a $700 administration fee to be paid to AIESEC QUT once applicant has passed their interview and signed the contract. View below for an explanation as to what is included in the fee. The following is an example budget breakdown of minimum expenses that can be expected during a standard 6 week project in Indonesia. This does not include the administration fee, leisure and travel costs.
