Greetings & farewells Let's start this newsletter and also this year by thanking to all of the members who were part of OGX during 2017 and January 2018. We hope you have developed what you were looking for and whether you remain within AIESEC or not, you'll be a part of us. At the same time, let's give a warm welcome to the new members of OGX that will be developing this area to new heights! None of AIESEC's portfolios is simple, and this remains true to OGX, but bear in mind that we will be there to support you!

Expectations setting Hello! How do you feel about beginning this adventure? Confident? Scared? Doubtful? Enthusiastic? All of the above? It's ok. It's completely normal to feel a variety of emotions when you're starting something new and challenging. That's why Fede and I are here to help you during this experience. You might know that AIESEC is not only a Student Society at your university, but a Global Organization present in over 120 countries. This means that while we can locally use the tools that AIESEC provides, we must abide to certain standards in order to ensure the quality of our performance. For every activity, there are a set of guidelines that we must follow, but don't worry you'll get them all in the appropriate time. As for now we will only focus on OGX

Expectations setting Here are the main expectations regarding OGX. Even though these are must-have knowledge for OGX members, it's is advisable for the rest of the Local Chapter members to be aware: AIESEC: AIESEC is not a travel agency. AIESEC provides experiences of leadership development. AIESEC's development experiences can be: joining the organization as member, or going abroad for a volunteering or professional experience. AIESEC has created 16 Standards to measure the rate of successful achievement every exchange has. Make sure you, the members of OGX and the people who go abroad know and understand them. Every country is different, but these 16 standards regulate all experiences equally

Expectations setting COST OF EXPERIENCES: In South Africa, AIESEC charges R 2,000 for participating in a volunteering experience, and R 3,500 for a professional experience. The payment should be done to the next account: Bank Account Name: AIESEC South Africa Bank Account Number:Â 50460091206 Bank Branch:Â FNB, Cresta (254905) The payment includes: either a volunteering or a professional experience and the amenities granted by it e.g. accommodation, meals, salary, etc. Also included in the payment is assistance to the exchange partner before, during and after his/her experience. A preparation seminar to EVERY exchange partner is needed before he/she departs to his/her experience. The payment doesn't include: passport, visa (if applicable), transportation tickets to the country where the experience will take place, and travel insurance.

Expectations setting EXPERIENCES: Anybody from 18 to 30 years old can participate in a volunteering experience. Volunteering experiences last from 6 to 8 weeks For a professional experience, the profile of internships is more selective. They often require a Bachelor degree. However, others require higher education level from the applicant (above 2nd year of university usually) Professional experiences last from 3 to 12 months Don't give false expectations, Speak with truth: a person over 31 years can't go on exchange, a person without university studies can't take a professional experience, Don't say AIESEC covers all of the costs. Don't say "NO" immediately: while finding professional opportunities for careers such as Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering is difficult, suggest the person to take a Volunteering Experience focused on expanding his/her soft skills or his/her skills on marketing, management, etc.

Expectations setting CUSTOMER FLOW ATTRACTION: Talk with your Local Chapter, you can print some posters and place them on specific places, you could also have an open space at some point at your university some times, ask teachers if they could give you 5 minutes of their class to talk about AIESEC's experiences. Go to the cafeteria in group and talk with people in there. Also, ATTRACTION doesn't solely need to be only at school. You can talk with your friends, your family, at the gym, or at any other suitable space. CONSIDERATION: Be prepared with the sufficient information in order to respond any questions made to you. Also get to know some interesting facts that you might need to impact your audience

Expectations setting CUSTOMER FLOW VALUE DELIVERY: give constant follow ups to exchange partners before, during, and after their experience. It is also helpful if you evaluate the profile of your exchange partners so that they can apply to suitable opportunities for them. It's important to contact the Local Chapter of the country where the exchange partner wants to go, by doing so, you and that country can give better expectations to him/her. ALL exchange partners need a preparation seminar before they go to their experiences, make sure they receive it. Stay in contact with the exchange partner and with the country he/she went to in order to solve any issue that might arise. BRAND ADVOCACY: Depending on our performance in the three previous phases, our exchange partner will become a promoter or a detractor of AIESEC. If he/she becomes a promoter, try to offer him/her new experiences. If he/she becomes a detractor, find out what happened to him/her so that AIESEC can improve that factor

Expectations setting ALSO IMPORTANT! Take into consideration if a person needs visa to visit a country or not. Some people might be open to have an experience in any country, while others are stubborn to have their experience in a specific country. Sometimes it's possible for them, and sometimes it isn't. If it's not possible, try to make them see that they can have a great experience in another country.
