A JOURNEY IN FASHION

PADINI has come a long way since its humble beginnings in Malaysia’s apparel industry. From backend operations to brand leader, PADINI proudly celebrates 40 years in the fashion world.

Established in 1971 as Hwayo Garments Manufacturers Company, it mastered the role of manufacturing and supplying womenswear before launching the company’s debut fashion brand, Padini, in 1975.

For four decades, Padini has kept up with fashion-savvy consumers across genders and age groups by launching fashion brands including Padini, Padini Authentics, PDI, P&Co, SEED and MIKI, all of which can be found in the ‘all-in-one’ Padini Concept Store. 1971 Begins operations as Hwayo Garments Manufacturers Company, a sole proprietorship carrying out the manufacture of ladies garments and wholesale of nished products to departmental stores.

1981 The brand VINCCI is created to market ladies shoes, bags, belts and other accessories.

1990 The SEED and ROPÉ labels are launched.

1992 The name ‘Home Stores Sdn Bhd’ is changed to Padini Holdings Sdn Bhd.

1999 The PDI label featuring men and women fashion, is launched with the opening of its rst retail store in One Utama Shopping Centre. The rst of the group’s multi-brand shops, the Padini Shop, is opened in City Square Johor Baru; covering 11,000 square feet showcases merchandise with Seed, Padini, PDI, Vincci, P&Co and Rope` labels.

2001 The relaunch of PADINI career brand.

All Padini mens and Rope counters are revamped and modied to the new PADINI concept.

2007 The Vincci+ and Vincci Accessories labels were launched. The ‘all-in-one’ fashion store – “Brands Outlet” debuted in 2007, bringing together variety of brands to provide the whole range of wardrobe essentials for men, women and children.

2004 Transfer of the listing and quotation from the Second Board to the Main Board of the Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange.

2008 The Padini brand was valued by Interbrand at RM245 million, as part of a brand valuation exercise commissioned by the 4As of Malaysia.

2009 Padini Holdings Bhd received an award as Malaysia’s Most Valuable Brands 2009 again and was recognized as a publiclisted company that is near and dear to hearts of Malaysians by receiving an award from Putra Brand Awards 2009.
