Set up the base grid.

Step 2

Choose a layout grid box size (in this case 6 unit boxes) to fit/suit a given application and overlay onto material. Step 3

Isolate the boxes which fit comfortably within the document removing the rest. Step 4

Center the layout grid to the document. Step 5

Set the base grid (InDesign's 'document grid') origin point to the top-left corner of the new layout grid.
