History
Ever Prosperity The first "Ever Prosperity" rammed aground on the West Coast barrier off La Foa on 26 February 1965 following a navigation error by her skipper. On 3 July 1970, the second "Ever Prosperity", heading for Monéo to pick up a cargo of coal, was hit by a violent storm near the Amédée Lighthouse Island. Visibility was zero and the ship also ran aground on the nearby reef. Attempts to dislodge the wreck have all failed and the hulk remains there to this day. It has even become an attraction for sightseers, a point of interest for tourists on helicopter trips over the coral reef and visitors to the Amédée Lighthouse. And the story gets even stranger: not only did the two ships bear the same name, they were both wrecked by the same Korean skipper! And they say lightening never strikes twice in the same place...
