Basic Television Reception to fully Interactive Networked Services Airwave understands the needs of hospitals and patients and has developed a multi-tier approach ranging from basic television reception to fully interactive networked services with touchscreen control. We know that some hospitals do not want to charge their patients for watching television whilst others would like to make a return to cover the cost of providing the service. Each hospital has a different set of needs and Airwave matches that need to the product and service provided.
Standard Freeview TV Simplicity of use coupled with a wide choice of content, excellent sound and vision is of course paramount for the patient. The advent of Freeview has been a blessing for both hospitals and patients alike. It has propelled Hospitals from the world of delivering four grainy channels, to one of supplying 80 crystal clear digital TV and radio channels (some in HD with the right equipment). Our feedback is that patients love it.
Additional international channels with the latest head-end technology enables the delivery of high quality foreign language satellite channels directly onto the screens of Freeview TVs in a pure digital format. Our key partners in professional Hospitality TV are LG, Philips, Samsung, Sharp and Sony and we buy directly from these companies and more importantly, liaise directly with their technical and R&D teams. By installing Freeview, hospitals can easily implement a known solution providing all available Freeview services and install onto an existing RF coax network subject to technical survey. Freeview is a robust and reliable solution and easy to support and maintain.

Example – Arm + White TV + PureCare Remote At last! A Smart AND Hygienic Healthcare TV solution – Airwave Healthcare are proud to add the new Samsung range of healthcare TVs to our Patient Entertainment solution portfolio. We gave Samsung feedback from our customers about specific healthcare requirements and they developed what we consider to be the perfect TV solution for Hospitals and other healthcare establishments.
Available in either black or white finish, the 4 Series range from Samsung has built in Freeview, and available in a choice of 19”, 22”, 26” and 32” screen sizes. Additional TV solutions are available including TV with built-in DVD and TVs with new energy saving LED backlighting technology.
Complimenting the TV, Samsung has now launched the PureCare remote control which is simple to use, easy to read and most importantly fully wipeable. This white PureCare remote is supplied as standard with their white TV’s and can be purchased as an accessory with black models (Some existing Samsung TV’s may also be compatible, please contact Airwave Healthcare for further advice). The PureCare remote control also incorporates a multi set up feature making it a must for multi-bedded areas. Samsung healthcare remotes can be set to up to ten different codes preventing cross changing of channels and volume settings in bays.
Traditional remotes with raised buttons are difficult and time consuming to clean and research has shown just how unhygienic a remote control can be. Infection Control departments have been asking for this type of TV remote to help prevent cross contamination between patients, staff and visitors as just about everyone in hospital handles the TV remote. The PureCare remote design has been approved by many Infection Control teams, in addition Airwave Healthcare offer solutions for anchoring remote controls to help prevent loss and theft. IPTV TV By installing IPTV the hospital can easily distribute TV Channels via a CAT5/6 network and manage content and channels from a single point. IPTV enables easy to use Interactive Information and offers video, movies & hospital controlled clinical data on demand. The benefits of IPTV include consistent quality on every TV, upgradeable to HD and easy to scale up, and manage by existing Hospital IT group(s). Simple patient feedback mechanisms can be added. IPTV can be customised for individual Hospital and Healthcare sites to enhance the personal local site “look & feel” to the TV system and also supports instant information and individually managed content control out to each bedside or ward from a single source. Internet access to streaming content can be blocked at the firewall for greater security and regulatory compliance.
In addition this solution has the ability for remote access giving efficient diagnosis support and maintenance either by existing site staff or externally via Airwaves Helpdesk Teams.

Hospital Information Channel For better informed patients Airwave can provide Hospital TV and Radio Information channels on any of our system solutions. Easily managed by a nominated Hospital administrator or through Airwave the info channel can be selected and broadcast on a dedicated channel, this can be set up as the default start up channel if required. This channel could also be utilised for public area TVs and of course, there are some cross promotional opportunities here as well including local advertising.
With regard to the video zone Airwave can also assist with the creation of the Welcome video for individual hospital sites. Airwave can also supply even simpler Electronic Notice Board pages enabling day to day information to be communicated around the ward.

Working with renowned Glamox Luxo and ErgoMounts mounting arms and brackets Airwave can design optimum fixing solutions for TVs required on multiple fixing variations. Our series of bespoke and premium hospital mounting solutions incorporate revolutionary design features providing effortless movement enabling patients to view TV while sitting or lying in bed and also whilst seated in an adjacent chair. In cases of clinical emergencies staff can immediately swing the TV or monitor up and out of the way enabling direct access to the patient. All solutions are fully cable managed, have a high quality finish designed to meet modern healthcare control standards and can be cleaned with all hospital grade cleaning solutions.
Smoovie Healthcare The Smoovie remote has quickly established itself as both a method of controlling access to selected channels and as a simple mechanism for a PAY TV solution and easy to manage revenue generation Each Smoovie controls the TV and can be sold or given to the patient at the beginning of their stay. This is a great benefit in terms of infection control as well as a way for the hospital to generate revenues from television. The Smoovie Healthcare remote comes in 2 day, 3 day, 5 day and 7 day versions and can either be sold at the hospital shop or via vending machines. There is a ring at the base enabling it to be connected to a lanyard or key ring (Ski-pass type), to ensure it is within easy reach of the patient and does not get lost under bedclothes. Smoovie can be used with just the normal channels OR with pay movie content and has the benefit of four different infra red codes for multi bedded areas
