From the Kindergartens head The first month of the new school year is nearly over. I am happy to say that little tears of the adjustment period have almost dried out and children’s faces are enwreathed in happy smiles, children got used to the teachers and we see first big achievements. We are all encouraged by the parents’ nonindifferent attitude to the kindergarten life and the more I talk to them the more I see that their confidence about the right choice of the kindergarten for their child grows. In Russian-English kindergarten Atlantic the best features of the two pre-school education systems are combined. This makes it possible for the children to develop two languages and be exposed to different cultures from the very early age.
Каким бы ни был язык общения в детском саду, он интенсивно развивается, являясь «языком окружения». Если ребенок не получает поддержки в развитии своего родного языка, то этот язык будет становиться все слабее и слабее. В нашем садике два «языка окружения» - английский и русский. В наш садик приходят дети как из двуязычных так и из моноязычных семей, которые заинтересованы изучением иностранного языка и развитием родного. Иногда и русский и английский языки не являются для ребенка родными, но так как новые языки являются постоянными языками общения в игре, на занятиях, на прогулке, никто из детей не перенапрягается. Такой подход соответствует натуральному процессу овладения языком, который проходит каждый ребенок.
Whatever is the language of communication in a kindergarten, it develops rapidly, because it becomes an “immersion language”. If a child does not receive any support in the development of his or her native language, it becomes weaker and weaker. In our kindergarten there are two “immersion languages” - English and Russian. Our kindergarten welcomes children both from bilingual and from monolingual families, that are interested in their children learning a foreign language and simultaneously developing their native language. Sometimes a child’s native language is neither English nor Russian, nevertheless as new languages are regular languages of communication during playtime, lessons, outdoor play, none of the children overstrain. Such approach corresponds to the natural process of language acquisition that every child goes through.
