SCHOOL PROSPECTUS
1. Welcome to Atlantic International School! The International Education Center "Atlantic" is an elite non state institution with an advanced study of foreign languages and mathematics. We lay particular emphasis on developing the personality and creative abilities of the child. Education in the center is based on two curricula: Russian and the international. The Russian Program of Atlantic International School complies with all state educational standards: • the time-table includes mandatory educational subjects; • they write the Unified State Examination (USE) in the final year; • upon completion of studies, they are issued standard state certificates of secondary education. Compatibility with European educational standards corroborates the preparation of our graduates for the International General Certificate of Education (IGCSE) exam. For accreditation, the center fulfills a number of conditions: • the language of communication and education at the center is English and Russian. Additional languages such as French, German, Spanish, Turkish and Italian are also studied; • the program includes all the European disciplines; • an international approach in presenting new knowledge. The time table at Atlantic International School harmoniously combines the main lessons with additional study and other various extracurricular activities such as trips to museums, exhibitions and historical and cultural monuments of Moscow and Moscow region.

2. Objectives of Atlantic International School The education and upbringing of children is a crucial undertaking. This is because the future of the child depends largely on our efforts. Mission & Vision Statement The goal of the AIS is to provide the students with a strong curricular programme based on developmentally appropriate practices in a challenging and supportive environment. At Atlantic International school, we believe that all our pupils and staff are unique human beings, capable of spiritual, moral, intellectual and physical growth and development. 4. Parents choose Atlantic International School because • The children are at the school all day: from 9 am to 18 pm. An intensive, educational, pedagogical, entertaining and sportive program is planned for them. As well as 5 meals. • We accept children regardless of what language they are accustomed to communicating in, and find an approach to each one (in special cases they can be provided individual teaching programs) • Our curriculum combines Russian and English international education standards. As a result, we are one of the few schools who have the right to issue not only the state certificate, but also prepare pupils for the International General Certificate of Education (IGCSE) exam • Classes are conducted in Russian and English languages; this develops the students’ linguistic ability, expands vocabulary and perfects active and passive communication skills. • Our pupils have at their disposal the closed and equipped areas of the center, playgrounds and classrooms equipped with the latest technology and space for extra lessons. 5. Kindergarten - Children's world Learning abilities are ingrained in them from the earliest years. The earlier a child is inculcated with a hunger for new discoveries and fascinating knowledge, the easier it is for him to walk on the broad road of life in the future. At Atlantic International School even three-year old kids have their own schedule - 5 development classes of 20 minutes daily! Groups are formed according to age: • Nursery (3-4 years) children learn social skills and develop basic relationships with pears. They rapidly learn new English words, so by the end of school year children are able to use simple statements and questions. • Reception (4-5 years). Children are taught to link sounds to letters. They acquire mathematical concepts of addition and subtraction; recognize numerals from 1 to 10 use language to describe shape, size and position. • Junior (5-6 years) they study numbers up to 20 and beyond, 2-D and 3-D shapes, calculating, number facts and measuring. Children produce beautiful artwork, sing songs, dance to the music, and expand their knowledge and understanding of the world. • Senior (preparation for school, 6-7 years). Together with academic progress children learn to respect their own cultures and beliefs and those of other people and the need to work together harmoniously. All the activities children do in pre-school allow them to build up vocabulary and become fluent in English.

5. Детский сад — детский мир Способности к обучению закладываются с самых ранних лет. И чем раньше привить ребенку интерес новых открытий и увлекательных знаний, тем легче ему будет шагать по широкой дороге жизни в будущем. В детском саду Международного центра образования «Атлантик» даже трехлетние малыши имеют свое собственное расписание — 5 развивающих занятий по 20 минут в день. Группы образованы по возрастному принципу: • Nursery (3-4 года). Малыши проходят адаптацию в коллективе, осваивают первые правила вежливости, особенности русской и английской артикуляции. • Reception (4-5 лет). Этот возраст идеален как для развития речи малыша (в том числе иностранной), так и для ряда других умений и навыков: счета от 1 до 10, логического мышления, памяти, этики и эстетики, мелкой моторики. • Junior (5-6 лет). Занятия в этой группе направлены на изучение алфавита, нумерации от 1 до 20, двухмерных и трехмерных фигур, простых арифметических действий и единиц измерения. • Senior (6-7 лет). Формируется академическая и психологическая готовность к школе.

5. Kindergarten - Children's world The groups are made up of only 10-12 children, as such 2 educators and a nanny have time to look after each individual. A daily five-meal plan and daytime sleep are fully implemented. Teaching is conducted in the form of exciting games. The program includes: English language, reading and language development, mathematics, study of children's literature and the characteristics of the environment. Lessons that require higher attention and perseverance are interspersed with creative and physical activity during lessons with drawing and music, gymnastics and dancing. During the course of the day, a pediatrician, nurses, a speech therapist and a child psychologist are all available in the school.

5. Детский сад — детский мир В группах по 10-12 детей, поэтому 2 воспитателя и няня успевают позаботиться о каждом из своих подопечных. Организовано полноценное пятиразовое питание и дневной сон. Обучение проводится в игровой форме и частично на английском языке. В программу входят: английский язык, чтение и развитие речи, математика, изучение детской художественной литературы и особенностей окружающей среды. Уроки, требующие повышенного внимания и усидчивости, перемежаются с творческой и физической активностью на занятиях рисованием и музыкой, гимнастикой и танцами. В течение дня в НОУ МЦО «Атлантик» постоянно находятся врач-педиатр, медсестры, детский логопед, психолог.

6. School - the door into the adult world We teach, not for school but for life. That is why the basis of education is not only Russia's compulsory general education curriculum, but also subjects from international curricula. At Atlantic International School the European method of teaching is actively used. New topics are not begun with theoretical material but are formulated through the process of practical experiences and collective reasoning, directed by experienced teachers. Such methods of obtaining knowledge are not forgotten quickly. Another thing that distinguishes AIS is that lessons at the elementary school are conducted not just by the class teacher but also by other teachers. This kind of organization helps to prepare the pupils on time for transition to 5th grade, smoothly adapting them to higher workloads.

6. Школа — дверь во взрослый мир Мы учим не для школы, а для жизни. Именно поэтому основу обучения составляет не только российская обязательная общеобразовательная программа, но и предметы международной модели обучения. В НОУ МЦО «Атлантик» активно используется европейская методика преподавания. Новые темы начинаются не с теоретического материала, а формулируются в процессе практических опытов и коллективных рассуждений, направляемых в нужное русло опытными педагогами. Такие знания запоминаются учениками быстро и надолго. 6. School - the door into the adult world The second half of the day is also loaded with activities. At this time pupils under the guidance of their teachers do their homework or attend numerous study groups and development workshops in the school. Students often go on excursions, exhibitions and theater performances. We strive to maximally discover and actualize the educational and creative potentials of every pupil. That’s why not more than 14 people study in each class. All rooms are equipped with the necessary supplies, digital equipment and visual materials.

7. Daily Routine We are well aware of the agile and the spontaneous nature of our pupils. As a result, the learning process is designed so that the lessons do not bore and the physical activities do not wear them out. The shortest academic lessons in English language, reading, speaking and counting are alternated with creative discoveries in graphic art, music, gymnastics and choreography classes. And of course, during breaks, fresh air, outdoor games, tasty and diverse meals. After lessons - time for homework. This is doubly convenient: our teachers are always available to assist in case of difficulty, and parents do not need to turn over the pupil’s mark book and check homework every evening. Just enjoy conversing with your child. At AIS a large number of extra lessons are organized, thoroughly developing the personality of the child. Everyone can choose for themselves according to their own taste! Throughout the day, the pupils are under the supervision of the teachers. Our system of rules and incentives promotes active social life among the pupils and their observance of school discipline. They can only leave the Atlantic International School’s territory accompanied by parents or with the written permission of the principal.

7. Распорядок дня Мы хорошо понимаем живые и непосредственные характеры своих воспитанников. И потому процесс обучения построен так, чтобы учебные занятия не успели наскучить, а физическая активность — утомить. Для самых маленьких академические уроки английского языка, чтения, речи и счета чередуются с творческими открытиями в классах изобразительного искусства, музыки, гимнастики и хореографии. А в перерывах, конечно же, прогулки на свежем воздухе, подвижные игры, вкусное и разнообразное питание. Школьники свои утренние часы проводят в классах. После обеда в их расписании — время для выполнения домашних заданий. Это удобно вдвойне: наши преподаватели всегда помогут в случае затруднений, а родителям не нужно каждый вечер листать дневник и проверять уроки. Просто наслаждаетесь общением! В Международном центре образования «Атлантик» также организовано большое количество дополнительных занятий, всесторонне развивающих личность ребенка. Каждый может выбрать себе дело по вкусу! В течение всего дня учащиеся находятся под присмотром педагогов. Наша система правил и поощрений способствует активной общественной жизни воспитанников и соблюдению ими школьной дисциплины. 8. An eventful day - an interesting life Children spend the whole day at Atlantic International School. As a result we ensure that our pupils develop and perfect their physical skills and creative abilities. So, what can kids do after school? • Study an elective foreign language: Spanish, French, German, Turkish and Italian. • Visit the chess or computer club, graphic art or photography studio, theater or study group. • See a dance or sport section (football, basketball, taekwondo, skating). • Take a tour of the city‘s sights, visit interesting museums • Participate in the community life of the center -be prepared to perform at a gala concert, to write an article for the school’s newspaper and create your own group. • Go to the library or computer lab. • Every Saturday, the children may engage themselves in the swimming pool. • The trips are made in the company of our teachers, using the center’s own transportation. All additional classes are included in the total cost of tuition and require no additional cost to parents.

Зимой во дворе центра мы заливаем каток для занятий фигурным катанием • Ездить на экскурсии по городским достопримечательностям, посещать интересные музеи, выставки, театральные и цирковые представления • Принимать участие в общественной жизни центра — подготовиться и выступить на праздничном концерте, написать статью для школьной газеты, создать свой собственный кружок • Сходить в библиотеку или компьютерный класс • Каждую субботу дети ездят в бассейн Для поездок используется собственный транспорт центра. Logistic Base At Atlantic International School, we have created all conditions necessary for comfortable, productive education and training of your children. • A modern building with bright classrooms, equipped with the latest technology - computer, interactive whiteboard, multimedia learning aids, necessary school equipment and visual aids. • Spacious groups for kids with a large quantity of developmental materials and games, cozy bedroom for naps. • Children’s playground with sports complexes, slides and a sandpit. In winter, at the school’s courtyard, we will have our own skating rink! At Atlantic International School the following services are provided for your children: • A kitchen where our chefs prepare delicious, healthy and wholesome meals for the children five times daily. • Medical service - a pediatrician and a nurse monitor the health of the pupils, update their medical records, conduct regular check-ups and carry out vaccinations; • Psychological service- observing and correcting the difficult moments of a child’s self-consciousness and his interpersonal relationships; • Speech therapy service- a qualified doctor, if necessary works with each child; • Security service- maintains round the clock surveillance of the center.

10. Have a tour to Atlantic International School AIS is a well-equipped and fully staffed teaching and educational complex. We have provided and equipped all the classrooms with the latest technology. Also, facilities for games, recreation, meals and extra lessons have been provided. At the entrance you will be asked to show an ID by the security guards. This is a mandatory security requirement. The territory of the AIS will surprise you by its well kept and clean state. You will see a playground with slides and sandboxes. There is a spacious courtyard at Atlantic International School. During breaks the pupils often walk and socialize here. But now, as you can see, lessons are going on. Can we take a look inside? Long wide corridors, brightly lit modern classrooms, friendly and even somewhat homely atmosphere. On the walls are glaring newspapers of our pupils and informational materials about our teachers. You can read the door-plates on the rooms. Computer class, language studio, physics and chemistry laboratories, subject departments of the teachers, sports, dance, assembly and conference rooms, doctors' offices and of course, classrooms ... From the dining room, one can perceive appetizing scents. We advise that you wait for the end of lessons there.

На входе вас встретят и попросят предъявить документы сотрудники охраны — это обязательное требование безопасности обучения. Территория НОУ МЦО «Атлантик» удивит вас ухоженностью и чистотой. Вы увидите детские игровые площадки с горками и песочницами. А вот и просторный двор образовательного центра «Атлантик». На переменах здесь часто гуляют и играют ученики, но сейчас, как вы видите, идет урок. Заглянем внутрь? Длинные широкие коридоры, светлые современные классы, дружелюбная и даже в чем-то домашняя атмосфера. На стенах — яркие газеты наших воспитанников и информационные материалы преподавателей. Давайте почитаем таблички на кабинетах. Компьютерный класс, языковая студия, химическая и физическая лаборатории, предметные кафедры преподавателей, спортивный, танцевальный, актовый и конференцзалы, библиотека, кабинеты врачей и, конечно, учебные классы… Из столовой доносятся аппетитные запахи — рекомендуем дождаться там окончания урока.
