“The principle of true art is not to portray, but to evoke.” –Jerzy Kosinski Architecture for me is something beyond just visual perceptions. If done right, architecture is capable of evoking emotions that can bring about a change in a person, a community, a city, and even entire nations. I am passionate about advancing a view of architecture where visual perception is secondary to what matters: captivating the commuter in their life journey via an emotional connection catering to the individual’s experience.

LAYERED ECOLOGICAL INTERACTIONS Adv. Architecture studio IV, SPRING2020
“There is a place of peace and tranquility within all of us. This is an attempt to bring you there. Location- Ramsey Canyon Preserve, Arizona Purpose- Nature Experience and Recreation. Role- Concept, Design development, 3D modelling and rendering. Guide- Prof. Max Underwood. This design is a journal about self-awareness. My journey into Ramsey about self-discovery. My vision for the preserve is to create moments of sensory experiences throughout the trail to achieve multiple ecological interactions which would heighten our sense of nature as we move forward on the journey. I am not giving YOU nature all at ones, but slowly introducing you to the elements to heighten your perception around these key moments.

I have divided the journey into 4 transition zones:
ESTABLISH: Here the ‘decompression center’ is trying to introduce you to the sensory experiences and the 5 senses specifically. Senses like Vision, Smell, Sound, Touch and Taste, making the commuter aware of their existence in nature and thus making the commuter conscious about them before they enter the Canyon itself. EXPERIENCE: All the senses come at play as one enters the canyon and gets to witness them first-hand. Here, the journey is not orchestrated mimicking real life itself as we will all have our own sets of experiences and stories which mold us as people.
EXPRESS: At some point in the journey, you are given a platform to be free and become one with nature or the nature conservancy itself. Here, you could contribute to an ongoing research in the research center or just lay down on hammocks among the trees or just play in the stream with kids. We often tend to select the information which we want to see and start thinking that this is the only way things are. But there is always something we left and that is why we Reflect. REFLECT: After the various stages of your journey; you come across the visitor’s center 2.0, which is a Memory pavilion where you witness how nature could work with tech almost harmoniously. In the memory pavilion you give-in your experiences to just receive more from the other end.

CANVAS FOR RITUALS
Cuidade Mexico global engagement studio, FALL2019 “Buildings create a platform for modern day rituals. Location- Phoenix, Arizona Purpose- Public recreational and Housing. Role- Concept and Design development, 3D modelling & rendering. Guide- Prof. Claudio Vekstein. Through careful analyses of mexican architecture till today; one factor that stood out for me was the treatment of buildings as art. Just like any other artform architecture tried to create visual emphasis whereas it can do so much more. It was seen in the historical structures how certain spaces helped in encouraging several aspects of social living. The structures intertwined with the art of living and these spaces played a major role in shaping their socio-political and religious practices. But, what are the spaces today that have such an effect on our lives? Are the spaces encouraging new experiences amongst us humans? What are the rituals of today!! Here, the building not only helps facilitate such interactions amongst people by silently being the canvas upon which the public living is painted upon. But, the canvas also tells us stories and gives us certain glimpses into the lives of people (Artists who have their own stories to tell). In a way, my canvas is a literal one with some ambiguity to it.

Where water is Afire- Altepetl *Altepetl, a term derived from in atl, in tepetl (“the water, the mountain”) denoting the provincial unit, or regional state, of pre-Hispanic Nahua society. By definition, each altepetl had a ruler, land base, marketplace, and temple dedicated to a patron deity.* The altepetl were configured by cosmological principles in which a center was clearly marked by a ritual precinct formed basically by a “temple”.

INFORMAL FORMALITY Adv. Architectural studio II, SPRING2019
“architecture is about public space held by buildings Location- San Marcos, California Purpose- Public recreational & Automotive technology training campus. Role- Concept, Design development, 3D modelling & rendering. Guide- Prof. Darren Petrucci. Design Precedents: 1) An attempt to connect the front and the back ends of the site by allowing the commuters to pass through it creating a public corridor to activate the site. 2) The series of greens and solids running throughout the site, hence creating a systematic approach to combine both the formal and informal functions of the site. 3) The functions are laid out to merge with the public domain, thus making the institute the backdrop for the public activities. 4) Making the public interaction/pedestrian spaces the focal point of design.

INFORMAL FORMALITY
The building is organized in a more expressive modular fashion- the journey through the buildings strips away layers of psychological barriers to a point of self-realization and vulnerability. The buildings are organized in a way that makes one anticipate a journey into a institutional campus but instead surprises one with a public street blended with a much unconventional campus design purely designed to incorporate the public outreach. Programs are categorized based on levels of privacy with a strong emphasis on a students journey ina campus.

MUSICAL PRECINCT
Undergraduate Thesis, SPRING2016 “Architecture is an expression of values.” Location- Pune, Maharashtra. Purpose- performing arts centre, memorial & riverfront development Role- Concept, Design developement, 3D modelling & rendering. Guide- Ar. Vinayak Patil. “An abode of Music and Architecture.” MUSIC GIVES SOUL TO THE UNIVERSE, WINGS TO THE MIND, FLIGHT TO THE IMAGINATION AND LIFE TO EVERYTHING. Music is a part of architecture- the acoustics of the building, the sound of the city, inspire you and give you a connection to it. Thus, architecture is strongly influence by the way spaces change sound and we are influenced by such spaces. This thesis aims to break the dominance of sight and examine the relationship between Music and Architecture as an emotional experience.

Journey of emotions Emotion is our perception of energy in motion which we recognize as a feeling. Different emotional levels are different energy movement levels called frequency. Every Note(swar) of an Indian Classical music is associated with certain emotions such as surprise, disgust, grace, amuzement, adornment, fear, Humaneness etc which makes the listener relate to it easily. The most basic element that comprises ‘Indian Classical Music’ are Swar and Taal. Swar(note) are a group of frequencies comprising a musical score. These musical notations are alphabets of Indian Classical music. The transitional nodes of the campus are based on seven notations of Indian Classical Music. The site is divided into seven zones based on the musical notes and the tonal qualities. Forming a framework for the planning of the campus based on the seven notations. These seven walls representing the ascending frquencies of Indian classical musical notes. [LEFT]

Architecture is inherently tangible and relies on objectives and dimensional methods to be able to sit on minds and provoke emotions and feelings. Music is inherently tangible a d relies on mental conditions and aspects that become truth only through creating motivations that appear by listening and also effects one’s Inner world. Architecture is a way of telling stories and it is not just an intellectual or abstract exercise it is an emotional experience just as Music. Therefore it can be used to trigger the emotional experiences in a musical composition and thus create a work of art to attain corporeal healing.
Music heals body, mind and soul- Veena Hangal.

“The study of essences Architecture has the potential to put essences back into existence. -Steven Holl
By weaving form, space, and light, architecture can be capable of elevating the daily life experiences through the various phenomena that emerge from specific sites, programs, and architectures. On one level, an ideology drives architecture; on another, structure, material space, color, light, and shadows intertwine in the fabrication of architecture.

CONCEPT The entire property is approximately 30 acres and the redevelopment is approximately 23 acres. The design intent is that the buildings will include articulation of the faรงade to create architectural interest. The materials and color palette for the buildings will be influenced by the landscape elements that surround the property. The architectural character of Scottsdale Entrada will be influenced by mid-century modern architecture in its desire to blend organic materials and modern elements in a clean, contemporary way. The goal of this Scottsdale development project is to create an environment that encourages mixed-use development while enhancing the surrounding area.

CONCEPT The design was evolved to respect and accomodate the limitation of materials. The architecture of the school compliments its context by interpreting and emulating where possible, the design elements such as courtyards, brick wall and hidden entraces etc of the surrounding regional architecture. The zoning was laid out considering the security and climatic aspects within the site, as the major focus was to provide a liveable atmosphere for the students who usually come from low-income households.

FILIGREE COURT Studio XS, FALL2016
Location- Bangalore, Karnataka. Purpose- Residential interiors. Status- Proposed Deliverables included conceptual drawings, physical models, 3D visuals and construction drawings. CONCEPT The intention was to look for synergies between the life and architecture both in California and India, and design a house that was truly modern with traditional planning and values. The design is a play on the courtyards and lines. Courtyards and planning are inspired from the traditional indian Haveli’s, and the lines and transparency inspired from the mid-century modern architects of California. The approach was to work from the outside in, making the defunct courtyard the heart of the house. The Filigree screen was designed to serve the need of security and eliminating grills on the doors and windows also added a third dimension to the space. Articulating the light that falls into the courtyard keeping it active through the day.

DOUBLE SKIN FACADE We are deploying a twin wall facade system. The external perforated skin, made of sandstone, is used to protect the building from the solar radiation on the East and West Facade, while allowing for Natural Light to permeate through. The internal skin varies depending on the internal use in that location. The air space in between the two skins acts as an insulation air cushion. The air cushion is cooled using an active stack effect. Reducing the heat gains from the facade, while also reducing the burden on the cooling systems. Other Sustainable Strategies used are - Grey water recycling for Landscape, a combination of Solar PV panels for generation of energy and Green Roofs towards insulation of the slabs.
