ALONE IN A
CROWD Wish if you ever noticed , The tears behind my smile. A drop of tear fell from my eyes ; It rolled down; Through my checks to my heart. None did wipe it off, No one for a word or a console My heart lay untouched for years ; Waiting for a miracle to happen. I looked out of my windows; Saw the moving crowd, Felt the blaring breeze Right on my face. Everything was moving, Nothing lay still. I wanted to fly high, Away from everything & everyone, But realization alerted! My feathers built of through , Had wealkend already, Fading day by day; A wish to cry but, Tears began to crystallize ........... Left alone in my lonliness, I tried to memorizing, the few names I know . But lonlimen was my only companion. Now ther’s nothing left I know !

ARE ‘U’ AN ‘ANGRY BIRD ? Rage, it seems, is all the rage. The gaming app Angry Birds, a global hit that’s been down loaded 500 million times since launching in 2009, continues to convince people that hurting fowl at unsuspecting pigs is the best fun around. And that’s to say nothing of the myriad videos devoted to angry grandpas, angry babies and angry cats currently dogging up you-tube. Entertainment value aside, there is an upside to range . On an evolutionary level, a hot head can serve to protect us. In stressful situations where we feel threatened or wronged, our brain send out messages for more adrenaline, tighter muscles and a faster heart-beat. This fight-or- flight response could theoretically keep as alive. But when we get angry, our rational prefrontal lobes shutdown and the reflexive back areas of the BRAIN take over. The left hemisphere also becomes more stimulated as the brain’s hormonal and cardio-muscular response kick in.
A tense body pumps out cholesterol and a group of chemicals called catecholamine, while encourage fully deposits to pile up in the HEART and carotid arteries. Angry people are 3 times more likely to have a heartattack than those less prone to fury. The fight-or flight response can prompt your nervous system to cut blood float to your STOMACH and divert it to your muscles, impacting intestinal-tract contractions and digestive sections, stress can also increase stomach asides. Are you sure, is it pretty? It cause a surge in the stress hormone cortisol, which builds up oil production and leads to other skin problems. During a prolonged and frequent eruptions of range, parts of the nervous system become highly activated, making it difficult to return to a relaxed state and ,every time affecting the immune system.
43
Hence anger management is the best way to keep out body organs in a healthy state. Mean while pone can retain their brain, breath deep etc... It helps to slow your heart rate and focus on other divisionary things. If anger is a symptom of a bigger problem such as a depression, prescription drugs could be a solution. Why does holding your breath help with hiccups ? It thought that if you build up CO2 in your body, it will stope your diaphragm from spasmming , which is what cause the hiccups .When your diaphragm contracts. involuntarily it forces a quick intake of breath that suddenly stopped by the epiglottis- a flap of cartilage located in the throat behind the tongue. That closure is what cause the hiccup sound. Why does armpit sweet smell worse than sweat from other places ? Our body has 2 kinds of sweat glands. Most of those on out arms and legs secrete a mine of a water and salt. But the glands in our armpit and groin release an oily substance, Which bacteria love. Its actually the
44
bacteria eating the oil that releases the bad smell. Can achy joints really forecast the weather ? Atmosphere pressure often drops right before had weather sets in; this shift could cause body tissue to expand, which can lead to swelling and pain. The effect is slight, but people who have arthritic joints may detect the differences. Temperature may also have an impact too ; every ten degree drop in temperature corresponded with a small increase in osteo arthritic kneepan. Why do we have finger prints ? Researches found that a finger prints ridges actually made it harder to hold flat, smooth surfaces, like plexi glass, because they reduce the skills contact area. Instead, they think our prints might help wick water off our finger tips or allow skin to stretch more easily, which can protect it from damage and help prevent blisters. Finger prints could improve our sense of touch too. What we do know for sure is that no two people finger prints are the same, ever among identical twins.

Incredible india
HOW IS INDIA DOING? Indias politics, economy and society have changed hugely in the intervering decades. But when reflecting on where we are today what strikties one is the change with changelessness. Let us look at just five main areas and a few sub areas of the many broad subjects. (1) Poverty and Malnutrition (2) Status of Women (3) Growth of Economy (4) Combating Illiteracy (5) Position of the Deprived Castes.
Poverty and Malnutrition The extent of poverty has certainly come down in the past 30 years. (a) But, the decline in poverty has not been uniform across regions and commun ities. If our parents lived in extreme poverty from 1950’s to 1980’s it is likely that our economic status is better than theirs. But, if you are from a Dalit or adhivasi family in Madhyapradesh, Chattisgarh, Bihar or Uttarpradesh chances are that you are no better off now than your parents were. (b) The incidence of poverty has declined but a quarter of the population or around 300-350 million people are still desperately poor. If other basic necessities like shelter, access to clean drinking water and sanitation are included, the picture is much more worst. (c) India suffers from severe ‘Multi-dimensional poverty’ In certain critical areas for instance, malnourishment and maternal mortality conditions remain terrible. close to half our children suffer from malnutrition, much the same as 30 years ago. For, the large mass of
58
Indias poor, daily life remains a struggle. (2) Status of Women Over the past three decades , a strong feminist movement has emerged, there has been a greater participation of women in economic activity in the cities, and there is reservation in panchayats for women, all of which would suggest a growing empowerment of women. The sexratio has at last begun to see some improvement, though only in the past decade. And the life expectancy of women is now, as it should be, longer than of men. The sex- ratio at birth the number of girls born for every 1,000 boys born has declined in recent decades. And the sex- ratio of children under six has also worsened whether the result of sex-selection at birth, female infanticide or neglect of the girl child, India has become an awful place for girls? (3) Growth of Economy Early 1980’s was the beginning of a fastest phase of economic growth in India’s recorded history, and the speed was maintained there after. The pace of growth in the past 30 years has been almost 60% higher than in the previous three decades Economic oppertunities have expanded, entrepreneurial avenues have exploded, some sectors are now organised on very sophisticated lines and millions in the urban middle and lower middle classes can aspire to a better life. But what of “ the human condition” or the quality of life of all Indians??...... (4) Combating Illiteracy In 1980’s only 36% of Indians were literate; now it is only 26% who are illiterate.
KMCT Ayurveda Medical College
(5) Position of the Deprived Castes We have seen the emergence of strong movements that have turned in to political parties demanding the redressal of traditional inequities. The political parties of the lower/ backward castes now exercise a major say in regional and national politics. The outcome, however, has not been any major improvement in the economic status of the deprived castes. Opinion on the achievements of these parties, as part of a larger movement for justice and equality has faded. Sub areas (i) Electoral Democracy (ii) Decline of the Public Institutions (iii) communalism and Domestic Terrorism (iv) Regionalism/Secessionism (v) Environment (vi) Media (i) Electoral Democracy There was a rise in voter turn out, specifically of the rural electorate, women and scheduled castes and scheduled tribes. All this has made elections more “ inclusive”. But, there are three related causes which weakens this electoral democracy nowAbsence of inner party democracy Rise of the family in political parties Money and corruption in politics and Beaurocracy (ii) Decline of the Public Institutions Much of the abdication has been in the name of privatisation. Corruption is an other face of the decline of public services. It disempowers the citizen and reflects a weakening of the rule of law and most danger ously, the intertaining of business, politics and crime. (iii) communalism and Domestic Terrorism
For a country that become indepedent amid gruesome violence on religious lines, communalism has been no stranger. we had anti- sikh riots of nov.1984, issue of Babri Masjid and Rath yathra of 1990 etc All this has contributed in no small measure to the growth of domestic terrorism. India is tragically now a less tolerant society than what it wasin early 1980. Message was: If you mobilise yourself with force, you can get away with anything. (iv) Regionalism/Secessionism The accumulated resentment that exploded in kashmir valley after the 1987 elections showed the political India was for from “stable”. Whether in kashmir or the north-east, insurgent movements have enjoyed considerable local support. The routine use of force to deal with Regional / Secessionist movements also brutalises the nations. (v) Environment Ecological degradation and the destruction of natural resources have increased sharply in the past quarter century. Our cities, have become time bombs for health disasters. In rural India, It is deforestation, occupation of common property; over-emploitation of groundwater, and indiscriminate use of fertilizers and pesticides that have caused problems. (vi) Media The Media today is un recognisable in numbers, variety and content from what it was in past decades. Beyond its growth questions are now being asked of the government rules under which it has to operate and its own lack of rules on integrity. The Media now has a visible “pro-business” tilt, as towards selling a particular vision of India and its role as ‘Manipulator’ on the mindset of the people. Many print and electronic channels sets a certain kind of “aspirational lifestyle” for the new India. The media also interprets the new lives of the upper middle classes “ in terms of a pro-
59
business mindset” There is a similar identity of interests b/w the media and the state on national security and India’s position in the world. There are of course exceptions; but the media has begun to think like the ruling elite because it has bough in to the dominent ideology and therefore refuses to question it. The main sets of changes outlined here can be brought to gether to offer a larger understanding of how we are doing. The key lies in identifying who rules India and how they manage (not resolve) the country’s many divisions. There is a microcosm of India today. We must remain opstimistic about the future and should not give up. In the end ,one of the achievement of electoral democracy and the working of the constitution is that the citizen knows, he/she has rights and will fight for them. However, much he/she may despair at, not being able to exercise them.

Glance over the past
Pravini Valsalan 2008 Batch
These days the atmosphere becoming much hotter. Technically speaking it may be due to the upcoming summer. Its February, that month which may be the most memorable of our college days. When we see each one’s face it is also getting much sharper and mature is think. The cute faces which was their when they came to the college has become like more matured nowdays. It has to be ha!!! These long 4 years had made to gain us alot, a lot of things which we are not able to recognize. Many of them has become very lose to other that they ever don’t like to think of getting separated. I have seen many showing sad expressions when I talk about it. Especially Femina who shows her crying face when anybody, ever mentions it. Some of them also very eager to leave the college and go to their homes. But when they think about the huge responsibility that is going to come on their shoulders, they even love to look back. Now, lets go back to those old days. When i got admission to the college on the precuries day of trauck to KMCT I had watched the movie Happy days. I liked that movie, I had ever dreamed my college days to be that happy days. When i came with my Amma and Appa on the day the class was to be started. I previously had came for the allotment. But now the place were the class was going to start areas different; the college was under construction that days. On that day, I firstly saw a girl, commonly speaking ‘ Oru Nadan Kutty’
93
with long hairs smiling at me. Dia you recognizes .......... it is Our Resmija ....... i had the memory of few faces on that day. The classes were taken and on that day what and all thinks was going on everyone had kowrill be our college ? Who will be with me at hertee? Whom and all I can be with these questions were as if flying my head. With these doubts, we become intimate with many of them in one or the other ways. No bonds, no difference in language. No unpromises we become why dose. In these days we added ti think why are the serious so serious now we could understand that why they had been. Even though we had many tights, we had understood their care the letter days know friendly and supporting they are. We had ........many Ragging cause being reported in many colleges. But i can surely lay that we are much a lucky people not to have that many of the seniors are even more helpful then what we had thought to be. Taking there we had been blessed with them. When i had seen............... fast time I had thought him to be........... but when we knew him ,we could understand his care for us. Teachers .............. They are the most who supported us starting from our Ist profession but one thing sad is that these great teacher that who had
94
thought us every year goes when our classes of that they are getting even better opportunities. From there the benefit we got is that were being thought by watches of all styles. Many of their classes we are seen remembering now these 4 years are had got three principles teachers who is not a more .... She tells our drawbacks and appreciates everyone’s talents not only in studies but also in extra curriculum. She had to say “You has to be smart in everything.” That is necessary is every aspect of life. Their lives has made to learn as a lot, which we cant learn from the books. It is the festieu now, all are in the work of KISMA and also our classmates has also the tension of studying because its our final exams when the supplementary came we become happy that now almost everyone has become capable of writing the final exams. If gods blessings all there we will be able to come according to our parents & teachers expectations. By concluding there, I would like to guide a every all the best for our NARIS who had also heartedly taken the responsibility of our magazine 2013 especially to our Irshu.
