Welcome TO OUR ANNUAL LUXURY MARKET REPORT FOR 2016. Welcome to our 2016 Annual Luxury Market Report, highlighting the news and trends of luxury home sales in our region. Now, at the beginning of 2017, the Sierras are being blanketed by over 14’ of fresh snow since January 1, bringing winter enthusiasts to lots of fresh powder. Smiles abound, from local residents and business owners, to vacationers and second homeowners, who’ve waited a number of years for these perfect winter conditions in this winter wonderland. The comparisons for 2016 versus 2015 show a 50% increase in number of homes sold at $1 million plus, a fairly insignificant drop of 1% in average sold prices and a 16% drop in average days on market. Total dollar volume of luxury sales increased by over 48%, from $437,161,853 to $650,231,672. Active inventory has increased by 20% over the same time last year, with 36 additional homes on the market. Martis Camp in Truckee continues to lead the luxury market, accounting for 17% of total luxury home sales in 2016, with 30 active homes totaling over $163 million.
