GRAPHIC & MULTIMEDIA DESIGN

“A graphic designer’s mindset is tuned to problem-solving: How to access a given visual communication issue, going through its rational, developing the design process over and over again, fighting to manage well the time, keeping an efficient use of its own resources, “Healing the Visual Disease” (like Vignelli said), until finding the best solution, and implementing it. Ok, this looks simple. Just like saving the world.” He attended the School of Arts of UCP, where he graduated in Digital Daniel Santos

Arts. For the final assessment of his B.A. he created an innovative project where cutting edge technology, communication and design were combined, to create a georeference game where teams compete in a treasure hunt. The success of this project was Daniel’s entry into the Visual Design industry. He began designing Rich Internet Applications and Social Network User Interfaces, for both startups and big corporations in the mobile industry. Just before starting as a lecturer of Authoring Tools in Polytechnic IPCA, he joined an international software house whose core business was Health Care. After this corporate experience, he accepted two more professional challenges. The first of them for a Chief Operative Officer position at a web design company within a technological cluster, based in his hometown of Porto, Portugal. He then went on to become a Project Management lecturer at a web design postgraduate program at ESAD Design School. For almost ten years, Daniel has worked in the Visual Communication Industry, predominantly in the fields of User Interface and Interactive Media. He considers his current position at Raffles Millennium International Ahmedabad to be one of his biggest career challenges yet. He endeavors to lecture on the most recent applications and practices of Design Thinking to his students.

14

INTERIOR DESIGN

“Space that speaks of multiple functions is not a recent element in interiors. We simply have begun to express it with a greater vision of pragmatic utility and a dash of technology.

Uday Sheth

He graduated from RMIT (Australia) with a B.A. in Interior Design and has been a professional interior designer for almost two decades. Having his own company, he has worked on niche projects like providing design consultancy to develop a shopping centre in Vietnam and museums in Singapore. He has a penchant for lecturing and has been associated with several design institutes in Singapore like La Salle and Inspiration Design School. He began his interior design career with Poole Associates in Singapore. There, he developed the eye for architectural details which then were enhanced with pure design intent. As the course of time churned Uday progressed into a myriad of styles to suit the specific part of the world he was in. Indonesia and Vietnam brought back the need of working with previously popular schemes with a new twist. His aim is the sheer practicality in every tangible and intangible space he perceives while not compromising the aesthetics.. 15

PRODUCT DESIGN

“Product Design is one of the most diverse design fields there is. Whether designing furniture and lighting, athletic footwear and camping equipment, exhibit and other interactive interiors, futuristic transportation concepts or graphics for product branding, the scope of this discipline is vast and varied. Product Designers continuously blend invention and innovation to develop a wide variety of useful and beautiful objects we use every day.”

Devon Foster

He was born and educated in New York City. Devon has always used the vibrant backdrop of his native home as inspiration to pursue his many creative interests. He attended the High School of Art and Design and went on to earn his Bachelor of Fine Arts from Parsons School of Design. Upon developing an interest in creating useful, beautiful functional products for market, Devon went on to attend Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY where he earned his Master’s Degree in Industrial Design. In his professional experience, Devon has worked on projects for Hoya Glassware, Nambe Giftware, Knoll and Steelcase Furniture, he has designed and fabricated custom furniture and cabinetry for private clients and developed a series of unique wall finishes for exhibits held by a branch of the Smithsonian Museum. Currently at Raffles Millennium International, Ahmedabad, Devon feels that India is an economically exciting country, in a state of unparalleled growth and hopes to do his part in moulding young, talented designers to compete in the International Product Design field.. 16

PRODUCT DESIGN

“A Product Design Academician, teaches the theory and application of Design for Products, Services and Environments. The product design process helps the designer to think of new ideas and convert them to marketable products, building a relationship between the product and its users. The designer needs to understand the larger implications of the design and create a good blend of useful functionality and an appealing form.”

Vinishree Verma

She is an Industrial Designer with 6 years experience in conceptualization, innovation, styling, and engineering products across various product categories. She has the ability to utilize design research, design theory, & creative strategy to effectively translate ideas into striking design solutions for product & business development. She has graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Architecture from M.S.
