WARNING: Observethe following for safety: 1. When eyeboltsare provided, they are intendedonly for lifting the motor and its includedmotor accessories.Eyeboltmustbe fully tightened. 2. The machinemust be groundedin accordancewith the National Electrical Code and any local code. 3. Permanentlyguard machineagainstaccidentalcontactof body parts or clothing with movingparts. 4. Shaftkey must be securedbeforestafiing motor. 5. The machineshouldmatchthe line voltage,line frequency,and the equipmentload. 6. Applicationsfor motor-mountedbrake should have proper safeguardsprovided for personnelin caseof possiblebrake failure. 7. Removeall power servicesand allow machineto reachstandstillprior to servicing. 8. On singlephasemotorsdischargestart and/orrun capacitorsprior to servicing. 9. Do not by-passor renderinoperativesafeguardor protectivedevices.
Motor Information- Continued MOTOR ENCLOST]RE Totatly enclosedmotors are intendedfor usewhere moisture,dirt, and/or corrosivematerials are presentin indoor or outdoorlocations. WIRING with furnishedconnectiondiagram. The wiring, fusing, and Connectthe machinein accordance groundingmustbe in accordanceto the NationalElectrical Codeand any local codes. Whenthe machineis connectedto the load for properdirectionof rotationand started,it should startquickly and run smoothly. If this is not the case,immediatelyshut motor off. Investigate thecause.The causecouldbe: low voltage,the motoris misconnrctgd, or theloadis too great, etc. It is recommended thatthe motor currentbe checkedafter it hasbeenoperatinga short time and cornparedagainstnameplatecurrent. LUBRICATION This is a ball bearingmotor. The bearingshavebeengiven initial lubricationat the factory. Motors without regreasingcapabilityare factory lubricatedfor normal bearinglife. RELUBRICATION INTERNALS MOTORS HAVING REGREASING CAPABILITY) New motors having beenin storagefor over a year should be relubricatedby the procedure notedbelow. Motor Information- Continued LI'BRICANT Motors are pre-greasednormally with Shell Oil Company's"Dolium R". Severalequivalent greaseswhich are compatibleto furnishedgreaseare ChevronOil's "SRI NO.2" and Texaco Inc. "PremiumRB". PROCEDT]RE Overgreasingbearingscan causeprematurebearingfailure. If motor is equippedwith Alemite fitting, cleantip of fitting andapplygreasegun. Use 2 to 3 strokeson NEMA 254 thru NEMA 365 frame. Use 3 to 4 strokeson NEMA 404 frames and larger. On motors having drain plugs, removegreasedrain plug andoperatemotor for 20 minutesbeforereplacingdrain plug. On motorsequippedwith slottedheadgreasescrew, remove screw and apply greasetube to hole. Insert 3 to 5 inch length on larger motors. Motors having greasedrain plugs, remove plug and operatemotor for 20 minutesbeforereplacingdrain plug. CAUTION: Keep greaseclean. Lubricate motots at standstill. Removeand replacedrain plugsat standstill. Do not mix petroleumgreaseand siliconegreasein motor bearings.
