THE FUTURE OF NURSING

Two students enrolled in the certified nursing assistant (CNA) program at Leesburg High School received $10,000 nursing scholarships from the Leesburg Regional Medical Center Foundation.

The students are Morgan Rhone and Breanna Funderburk, both high school seniors, who showed aptitude and affinity for the nursing field.

“While we have been helping hospital employees further their nursing education for many years, this is the first time we have funded a high school student at this financial level,” says Lynne Winker, chairperson of the LRMC Foundation board of directors.

Morgan is attending the University of Florida, while Breanna will go to Lake-Sumter State College. The scholarship money was possible thanks to Midge Rast, a generous benefactor of the hospital who died at age 100 in 2005.
