Dipnot Log On Back To Life will cover a number of gaps concerning the phenomenon of addiction to the internet and will detect others that will arise from the social research of the project and form the recording of the phenomenon. It anticipates to contribute to the scientific approach to diagnosis the factors that lead to addiction and to help the development of policies.

Report Results

According to our survey, almost 38% of students report levels of Problematic Internet Use.

Order of Use by

Online time control and school performances are at greatest risk for being affected. Excitatory usage and compensatory usage of the Internet are observed. Students spend a lot of time online. On the one hand, they find how to deal with uncomfortable emotions; on the other hand, they are exposed to the possibility of reaching conditions of psychological excitement, generated by the Internet.

Order of Use by Did You Know? • Country A person can try to assess his/her level of Internet Addiction, according to some diagnostic criteria. We should ask yourself: “Am I using the internet when I’m bored or when I want to be happy?”, “Did I start to use internet more when I wanted to spend less time on it?”

Almost 66% of parents think their kids spend too much time on the Internet. Nonetheless, only 33% of parents reproach their kids or teens for their screen time.

Almost 33% of parents have never shared any online activity with their kids, while 27% have never used any control system. Almost 63% of teachers haven’t planned any activities or training for raising awareness about online behaviour and the Internet usage in students. This said, 90% of teachers provide information during their classes (e.g. recommendations on how to avoid websites containing obscenity, dangerous or unreliable information). The majority of teachers believe that any Problematic Internet Use could negatively impact on students’ learning performances.

The most important thing to prevent internet addiction is raise awareness about internet usage. If the parents want to have information about their child’s internet usage they must be equipped enough about internet and computer usage. The results of the loneliness tests show that internet addicts are mostly the people whose loneliness score is high. A person whose loneliness score is high is more likely to be an internet addict. Lack of self-confidence, being introversive, poor social life and also growing up in an over intervening or over insensitive family and inadequacy in social support are among the risk factors that cause increase of the usage of the internet and becoming an internet addict.
