Editorial Dreams… On, hearing this word, many thoughts spill out! Besides, we all have so many questions regarding dreams. Why do we dream? Why do we get ‘such’ dreams? What is the interpretation of these dreams? Would these dreams come true in wakeful life? Do early morning dreams ‘happen’ in reality? In this issue of Akram Youth, let us find out the answers to several questions on dreams. Several readers of Akram Youth have written to us about dreams that they have dreamt. From this collection, we have tried to classify the dreams under the 'type' of dreams. For example, nightmares, dreams of blessings, etc. “What are dreams?” Let us get the answers to these questions from one experience of Niruma with Dadashri. Is Pratikraman necessary for sins, attachments, abhorrence, etc. committed in dreams? What do you think? Let’s ask Pujyashri about it. Let us understand Dadashri’s and Krishna Bhagwan’s explanation of science of dreams… What is 2-bodied 'Karma’ and 3-bodied ‘Karma’? “Where I am awake, there the entire world is asleep!” On several occasions, our companion starts snoring in sleep? Why? What can one do to get rid of this problem? What is the remedy for getting good/peaceful sleep? Which are the 14 best dreams in this world? Let us explore the world of dreams, from Gnani’s viewpoint. - Dimple Mehta
Well done!!! I always look forward to Akram Youth every month. The 4 step chart of anger in Feb 2016 issue has helped me to understand anger more clearly. I realized it was anger, when I got upset with my tailor, who had not done the work as discussed. It was a sugar coated anger attack. I've been doing pratikraman, using the chart. Now on, I will use intellect (buddhi) to resolve the situation and not to hurt others. Dada, give me strength never to get angry again! Congratulations once again. - Priti Shah

Types of Dreams We wanted to know what kinds of dreams we have when we sleep. Akram Youth Subscribers showered upon us, their dreams and all that content is documented below. Also, referring to Dada vani, we’ve come across many types of dreams. Dreams give us nightmares, they give us warnings, and many of our wishes come true in dreams. Dada, Niruma, Saints, Dev-Devis come in our dreams to bless us and sometimes even give solutions to our problems. So, here is a collection of dreams from our Akram Youth Subscribers. Like all our subscribers, if you too would like to contribute time to creation of Akram Youth Magazine, email us on akramyouth@dadabhagwan.org
Nightmares
I
had this dream during the days of my exams. That day was my Science exam, I was late to the exam, because I was stuck in the traďŹƒc. I ran to my classroom, all tense and quickly took my seat. I took a look at the question paper and I was shocked! It was a History question paper! In my dream itself I thought that I could be dreaming. So, I just wrote what I could recall for my History exam. The bell at the end of the exam woke me from my sleep. I immediately got out of bed and ran to check my exam schedule, and breathed a sigh of relief, when I saw that it actually was the Science exam the next day.
One night, I dreamed that I was walking in the vegetable market, when a dog bit me. I screamed in my dream, but I thought no one heard me. So I screamed again, but this time I actually screamed out loud, and woke my parents up! I get this recurring dream that I am alone in a room with a heap of snakes. I am in the same place every time I have this dream.

Dreams of Blessings The night before my 10th standard board exams, I had a dream of Pujyashree. He was walking in the garden, and there were a lot of people around him. While in the midst of all the people, he looked at me and asked me to come to him and he said something to me. I cannot remember what he said, but when I woke up the next morning, I was extremely happy and I felt very confident about my upcoming exams. Just a few days ago, I dreamed that it was the festival of Id. I was fasting to celebrate it with my Muslim friend. We could eat dinner only after we worshipped the moon. My friend and I waited a long time for the moon to appear. We waited until two at night, and we still could not see the moon! Suddenly, Pujyashree appeared, and said to me, "Come with me, I will show you the moon." We went to the terrace with Pujyashree, and he said, "Look, look up at the sky." We looked up at the sky and we saw a beautiful moon! This moon disappeared after 3 or 4 seconds. I was so happy. After that my grandpa served me dinner. One night I saw in a dream that I was walking towards Trimandir, and I saw a herd of cows running towards me. With all my might, I shouted, “Dada!" He came to help me. Dadashri picked me up and put me on my bed, and when I opened my eyes, I found that I was on the bed!
One night I dreamed of Pujyashree. In my dream, I ran to Pujyashree to touch his feet, when Pujyashree said to me, “You don't have to touch my feet, you should come and give me a hug!" Saying these words, he hugged me with such pure love! I was so happy when I woke up the next morning.
Once I dreamed of being on a plane with Niruma and other lady Mahatmas from many different centers. Niruma's health was not very good. Suddenly, the pilot left the plane and did not come back! Everybody got worried that now who was going to fly the plane? Niruma said," Don't worry, I will fly the plane!" Niruma, without any thought of herself, she got us all safely to our destination.

Solutions to Problems
During the Rajkot Trimandir Pran Prathishta, my seva was to bring Mahatmas to and from the temple. It was during this time, one night, Niruma came to me in a dream and asked me, “What are you lacking in your Gnan?" "Niruma, I cannot see Shudhatma in people." I answered. Niruma then said, “You should just keep it in your mind that there is a Shudhatma in everybody." The next morning, I was deeply happy and since then, my Agna of seeing Shudhatma has become strong. After my father passed away in 2011, I would be very sad for days. Niruma would always come to me in my dreams, but, for the first time, both Dadashri and Niruma were in my dream. I was standing in an open field with my mother and father. And suddenly, I saw Pujya Dadashri and Niruma on a floating mat. I experienced deep happiness and I introduced my mother and my father to Dada. With enthusiasm I shouted, "Dada, Dada!" in total bliss. Since then, my sadness has gone and whenever I remember this dream, I experience total happiness. There was a time, when due to my special classes and studying, I was unable to attend satsang, or go to the camps. At that time, Niruma had come to Bombay, and because of my busy schedule, I was unable to see her, even though she was in my town! I deeply regretted that I could not see her. That night I had a dream in which Niruma said to me, “Come and do your Vidhi." She did the entire Vidhi for me. 06 | April 2016
Every day I would decide that I would not read the newspaper, or watch TV, and every time, I would break my resolve. One night, Dadashri came to my dream and just said, “You have made a firm decision not to read the newspaper......?" And Dadashri went away.
Pujyashree frequently solves my problems in my dreams. Whenever I have the need to do His Darshan, Pujyashree always comes to me in my dream and gives me Drashti (with his eyes) Darshan.
Dreams of Warnings or revelations Once I had a dream where I could not ďŹ nish the exam paper. The next day, in the dream, I chanted the Trimantra before I started writing my exam, and I wrote my paper really well. This was a good reminder to me to say my Trimantra. I had come to stay at Simandhar city for a few days. The day I had to leave, I prayed to Pujyashree to be with me always, I did not want to leave Simandhar City. That night, in my dream, Pujyashree stayed with me all night. I do not remember the conversation I had with Him. But when I woke up, I experienced his blessings and grace. It was an important revelation to me that Pujyashree is always with me. I have always had dreams about snakes, but these days, when I dream of snakes, I catch them and leave them in a safe place. I also tell other people not to kill them. I realized that I applied my Gnan in my dream.
Dreams of Kashay When I get angry and am not able to tell the person anything, that person comes in my dream, and I beat him or her a lot! I get such dreams frequently. There was a time when I used to set my mobile alarm to my favorite song. When my alarm went o, instead of getting up, I would dream about the song in my sleep, and would just get lost in the song. I would think that I was dreaming, and the song continued to play in my dream. And I kept on sleeping! I ultimately woke up half an hour to an hour later! I stopped setting my alarm to that song.

Gnani-an idol of astonishment This is about the time when Niruma had not yet met Dada. One night Dadashri came to Niruma in her dream, and gave her beautiful Darshan of him. In the dream, Dadashri takes her higher and higher into the sky. He takes her very high into the sky. Niruma experiences deep happiness because Dadashri is taking her so high. Suddenly, Niruma got suspicious about where Dadashri was planning to take her! Was he trying to trap her in anyway? As soon as she had this suspicion, she felt herself falling from the sky, and fell hard into the water. This happened within a second of her having the suspicion. As soon as she fell into the water, she turned into a fish. When she saw that she had turned into a fish, she started shouting so loudly for Dadashri to take her back up into the sky. "Take me out of here!" She cried and she screamed! She woke up screaming and crying, her eyes flew open, she had tears in her eyes. After a while, when she saw Dadashri for the first time, He was exactly like the Dadashri she saw in her dream. The same eyes, the same compassion in his eyes. His whole image, the same as she saw in her dream. Dadashri had given her his Darshan when she had not yet seen him in the flesh! When Niruma woke from her dream, she had firmly decided that from then on, she would never doubt anything that Dadashri would say or do. Niruma asked Dadashri about this dream, saying that although she had never seen him, how did he come to her in her dream? Dadashri said to her," The things and persons you have not seen before cannot come to you in your dreams. You dream of the things and/or persons that you have already met or seen. You have never met me in this lifetime, but you have met me in your previous life, and that is why I came to you in your dream."

Gnani With Youth Questioner: Pujyashree, do we have to do Pratikraman for mistakes committed in our dreams? Pujyashree: Of course! Even in dreams, things occur exactly as they do in real life. So Dadashri has suggested doing Pratikraman thereof. People may say that though I have hit him in my dream, he is not really hurt!! Dadashri explains: “You were violent with him, you got annoyed, you had abhorrence towards him hence you should do Pratikraman for all these. All these emotions and actions are of such light category that they get discharged during dreams. Emotions of heavy category get discharged as thoughts. Still heavier emotions get discharged through speech; yet more heavy get discharged as actions. Just as stones will sink and small particles will float on water, similarly, there are different categories of mistakes: sticky, light, very light and absolutely light which get discharged through dreams. But only those 'Karmas' get discharged which had been charged in previous life. Therefore, you must do Pratikraman for mistakes committed even in dreams!

Jagrut Stage
Swapna with closed eyes
When one is not in a stage of deep sleep, then one is in 'Swapna stage'. Eyes are closed and the dream goes on. So when he dreams during the night, he 'sees' it all. Sometimes he has good dreams, sometimes he has bad dreams, sometimes he sees snakes, sometimes something else, all these during 'Swapna stage'. At that time he is not bodily conscious, but the This is the stage of dream goes on within. 'deep sleep' which (Swapna of 2 bodies) means completely unconscious. All doors closed, no sense of awareness! Yet there is always a feeling of joy in this stage of deep sleep, so when he wakes up he says, “I slept well”!

What is the mystery behind
My bizarre dreams? "Ronak! Hey Ronak! Come on, wake up! You are going to be late getting to school!" Vandanaben waited outside Ronak's room but when she didn't hear anything, she went in and started to pull Ronak's cover off him. "Mom! You could have waited just five minutes longer! You interrupted my dream yet again! Said Ronak stretching while yawning. "What about you missing your school bus while you dream away!" said his mom, as she pulled him out of his bed. Ronak shrugged his shoulders."Mom today my dream was a special one. I was the captain of my school's cricket team and my principal was getting on stage to announce my name to the rest of the school! Yesterday, I was touring in Switzerland and you woke me up!"Ronak chided. "I don't know about Switzerland, but your father was talking about going to Mount Abu for a holiday." Said Vandanaben with a mischievous smile. Ronak saw his mother's smile and said, "Whatever mom..." "Come on, hurry up now! You can fulfill your dream when you actually become captain." Vandanaben said as she quickly walked toward her kitchen. That day, during their lunch break, Ronak and his friend Keval were talking about their upcoming exams ,when they spotted their friend Shivam. Seeing his face, "What is wrong Shivam? You don't look like you're in a good mood today?" 14 | April 2016
asked Keval. "Yes my friend.....today is an unlucky day for me." "Why?" Asked Ronak impatiently. "I dreamt that I failed my final math exams because I had, by mistake, prepared for my Hindi exam instead of math." "Oh! Is that why you are upset? Keval asked grinning at Shivam. "You know that I am weak in math! The last time I had just about passed my math exam." lamented Shivam. "Oh!" said Ronak and Keval in unison. "Some say that the dreams that we get early in the morning come true!" Shivam expressed his worry. "Oh no my friend, I don't think it works like that. Even I had a dream early this morning, in which I was the captain of our school's cricket team!" Said Ronak "Hahaha! You, the captain of our cricket team! Then God bless us!" The mischievous Keval could not stop laughing. Two nights later, Ronak suddenly sat up in bed, frightened and shivering. He quickly got out of bed, went to his mother's room. "Mom, please wake up! Please come to my room and sleep there with me!" Ronak shook his mother awake. "What is wrong my dear? Why do you look so afraid?" "Mom, I keep having this dream.....I had the same bad dream again tonight!" "What bad dream?" "Mom......I was riding my bike, and then, I saw a truck coming towards me and it
was going really fast! Then suddenly it swerved into two people that were standing on the side of the road and then I heard a scream! "It was just a dream dear." His mother said, trying to console him. " I did not even have the courage to see what had happened to them!" continued Ronak, as if he had not heard his mother. "I saw so much blood on the road! My eyes just flew open!" he said, all in one breath. Vandanaben gave her son a glass of water and gently held him close. "My dear, dreams come and go. They don't really come true." "No mom! Then why don't you have these dreams? Why do I have these dreams?" Vandanaben had no answer to this Question, so to divert his mind, she said," Come dear, and sleep here right next to me and let's say a prayer." "But mom, I have had this
dream 3 to 4 times! Why am I having this recurring dream? Ronak was not satisfied with his mother's answer. In the past few months, Ronak had had all sorts of good, bad and bizarre dreams, but he could not forget the dream of the accident. The next day, Ronak was in the library, when he heard a voice behind him. "Hi Ronak, Which book did you borrow today?" Shivam asked. "Secrets behind Dreams." Replied Ronak. "So now you're doing research on dreams?" "Everyone has different answers to this same question......The astrologers say one thing, and the scientists say something else......I really want to know the truth about why we have dreams!" Ronak went into deep thought.
Let us see what Dadashri says regarding this matter…
Akram Youth | 15
Gnani's Scientific Solutions Questioner : Dada, why do we dream? Dadashri : Those dreams are our Karmas. Questioner : Why do we get affected by those dreams? Dadashri : These dreams are the result of our subconscious ( Bey Deh) karmas. When subconscious karma is ready for fruition, then accordingly, we have dreams. In our conscious life, we have conscious (Three Deh) karmas, where, when the karma is ready for fruition, accordingly, we have to suffer them with our minds' and bodies. This is a very subtle matter! There is no such machine which can dream. Dreams are a projection of your Chetan, or 'Pure Consciousness'. Also, these 'Open Eyed Dreams' (worldly interactions), are the projection of your 'Pure Consciousness' or Chetan. Even in a state of deep, but dreamless sleep, it is the projection of the 'Pure Consciousness'. The reason being, that when one wakes up from very deep sleep, one says," I haven't slept this well for a very long time." The one who experiences the sleep and the one who actually sleeps are both separate. The one who sleeps is not the one who says, "I haven't slept this well for a very long time." It is the one who experiences the joy of that deep sleep, that says these words, but that is also not the Atma, it is a part of the Chetan or 'Pure Consciousness'. This 'Pure Consciousness' has a connection with the permanent happiness of the atma. The part that says, "Today it was very joyful” is the one connected with permanent happiness, and not with temporary adjustments. While dreaming, all the windows of our physical body are closed. For example, eyes, ears, mouth etc. The subconscious body, the mind, the intellect, the subtle component of vision (Chit) is functioning. The Ego cannot do anything. If the Ego could function while dreaming, one would get up and start fighting with the person in the dream, or walk around, or whatever activities that have to be performed in the dream, would be enacted physically. But ego has no function in a dream, but when one is awake, it is the Ego that says, "I am the doer." Really speaking, the Ego cannot do anything in any situation but, while in the awakened state, all the physical body's windows are open, and therefore there is the illusion of doer-ship by the Ego.

Snoring Reasons, Remedies and Tips for You and Your Partner Just about everyone snores occasionally, but if snoring happens frequently, it can affect the quality and quantity of your sleep and that of your family members and roommates. Snoring can lead to poor sleep and daytime fatigue, irritability and increased health problems. What is snoring? Snoring happens when you can't move air freely through your nose and throat during sleep. This makes the surrounding tissues vibrate, which produces the familiar snoring sound. People who snore often have too much throat and nasal tissue or “floppy” tissue that is more prone to vibrate. The position of your tongue can also get in the way of smooth breathing. The causes of snoring: Being overweight or out of shape. Excess weight just around your neck or throat can cause snoring. Exercising and losing weight can end your snoring. Age. As you reach middle age and beyond, your throat becomes narrower, and the muscle tone in your throat decreases. While you can't do anything about growing older, lifestyle changes, new bedtime routines and throat exercises can help to prevent snoring. The way you're built. Men have 18 | April 2016
narrower air passages than women and are more likely to snore. Nasal and sinus problems. Blocked airways or a stuffy nose makes inhalation difficult and create a vacuum in the throat, leading to snoring. Alcohol, smoking, and medications. Alcohol intake, smoking and certain medications, such as tranquilizers can increase muscle relaxation leading to more snoring. Sleep posture. Sleeping flat on your back causes the flesh of your throat to relax and block the airway. Position of your tongue can cause snoring.
Self-help cures to stop snoring: Lose weight. Dropping even a few pounds can reduce fatty tissue in the back of the throat and decrease / even stop snoring. Exercise. Exercising your arms, legs, and abs leads to toning the muscles in your throat which in turn leads to less snoring. Quit smoking. Smoking irritates the membranes in the nose and throat which causes snoring. Avoid alcohol, sleeping pills, and sedatives because they relax the muscles in the throat and interfere with breathing. Establish regular sleep patterns. Sleeping in a routine way can help you sleep better and often minimize snoring.
If your partner doesn't stop snoring… Pujyashri: This snoring sound is like a generator, which disturbs me a lot. I don't get disturbed by the generator but I get disturbed due to the opinion about the generator. Now that you have found out, you should change your opinion: Repeat this fifteen times – Say “I have no objection, I have no objection.” Thereafter, despite the sound of snoring, you will get good sleep. So you should say: “It doesn't make any difference to me if someone snores.” Once it so happened that four persons started snoring together. It reminded me of an orchestra and that too, it was synchronized so well that the snoring went from low to high pitch! Besides, it was very cold. This was my experience during 'jatra' (Pilgrimage). Normally, if there is noise, I am unable to sleep, but in this case, I could sleep because I changed my opinion. One can sleep even if there is noise around. Here,
Bedtime remedies to help you stop snoring: Clear nasal passages. Clean your nose before going to bed. Allergies. Reduce dust mites and pet dander in your bedroom or use an allergy medication. Change your sleeping position. Elevating your head four inches may ease breathing and encourage your tongue and jaw to move forward. There are specially designed pillows available to help prevent snoring by making sure your neck muscles are not crimped. Sleep on your side instead of your back. during pilgrimage, if there is disturbance, I usually don't get sleep due to my temperament (prakruti). But, this time I slept peacefully and my temperament changed. So many conflicts take place and of course, horns will rub against one another. This is how I would get adjusted, thus, I would fall asleep naturally. At that time nothing disturbed me and I slept soundly!
