WHOM DOES THE VEIL OPPRESS? The identity of Muslim women seems to be everyone’s business now. It is time to take a look at history and ask ourselves what is true and what’s not in what the media shares, in a battle for the survival of Occidentalism. Current world’s politics makes us consider that READ IN what we see in the media ENGLISH is inevitably true. The lack NEWS.com/OPINION of perspectives and dialogues inside a massive flux of information is the contradiction of the century. Muslims and Islam are no strangers of this assertion, specially those women who have decided to wear a veil in a western society where opinions abound but history is a mere fairytale. From historical facts to inside perspectives, the discussion on the phenomenon of the veil is a persistent issue on modern journalism. This is AL DÍA’s special edition on the History of Hijab and an invitation to a modern debate on multiculturalism and tolerance. ..

¡Bienvenido! ■

Miriam Enriquez City of Philadelphia, Office of Immigrant Affairs

“He dedicado mi carrera entera al servicio público.

A
