It is with great pride that we present our 2009 stallion roster We are thrilled to welcome back Real Desire and also to introduce our new stallions Tiz A Masterpiece, Gotta Go Cullect and Luxury As. The last twelve months have been absolutely astounding for our stallions. Village Jasper and Armbro Operative look sure to run one-two in the Australian Sires Premiership. Our first crop sires have all excelled - Art Major has set a new stake earning record for two year olds, Grinfromeartoear continues to leave outstanding racehorses, Elsu has laid a tremendous foundation for the future and Artesian has also made a wonderful start. What’s more, in 2010 we will welcome the world champion Shadow Play to our siring ranks. We have never been so excited about the future. The progeny of Grinfromeartoear have been on fire all around the world. In North America, Mister Big is closing in on his goal to become the richest pacer ever and Not Enough has been a phenomenon in becoming the world’s fastest ever three year old filly. In Australia, Grin won the Hunter Cup Interdominion double with Mr Feelgood and his first crop of two year olds has placed him right at the forefront of the premiership. And, in New Zealand, he has sired the country’s leading two year old pacer in Smiling Shard (pictured winning the Harness Jewels). We couldn’t be more proud to call Grin our own.

Oh What A Hambo Day For Alabar Many people regard the number eight as being lucky. In 2009, the eighth day of the eighth month was Hambletonian Day at The Meadowlands in New Jersey. Hambletonian Day is one of the greatest – and most competitive - days on the harness racing calendar. It was most certainly a lucky day, and one to celebrate, for the Alabar breeding farms of Australia and New Zealand.

The Alabar bonanza continued with the Art Major four year old Riggins scoring a 1:48.8 victory in a $40,000 pace and the New Zealand bred Montecito (by Armbro Operative) continuing his outstanding form in North America in winning a $50,000 Invitational in 1:49.4.

Shadow Play For Alabar Australia in 2010

The day’s racing started with an authoritative win by the $500,000 winning racemare Btwmyurheartnmine in the $50,000 Fillies and Mares Invitational. The daughter of Real Desire paced the mile in 1:48.6 - a new lifetime best, a 2009 season’s record for a mare and just four-tenths of a second outside My Little Dragon’s world record. An even bigger highlight came with the uncompromising victory of the Grinfromeartoear three year old filly Not Enough in the $405,000 Mistletoe Shalee. Not Enough had to come up first over but was still too strong in winning easily in 1:49 – a new World Record as the fastest mile ever by a three year old filly.

Shadow Play winning the US Pacing Championship in a world record 1:47.4 In possibly the biggest news of the day, Shadow Play scorched to the lead from the outside of the gate in the US Pacing Championship to lead through a first half in 54 seconds. He then trailed and came back out before the straight to sprint away from the best free for allers in North America with a 26.2 second last quarter. He won with something in hand in 1:47.4. A $1.5 million earner, last year as a three year old Shadow Play was brilliant in winning the Little Brown Jug and gained huge respect in pushing Somebeachsomewhere to his absolute limit in running second to him in the Messenger Stakes.
