SIX STORIES BUILT FROM THOUSANDS MORE
New York changes almost as fast as it moves. Populations shift through neighborhoods, buildings evolve, and tastes constantly change. Nowhere is this more evident than in SoHo. 63 Greene Street is one of the last remaining SoHo buildings to be converted for residential use. Located in the heart of the Cast Iron Historic District, 63 Greene Street offers six stories in the tradition of the original artist residences: bright and open, with high ceilings, wood floors, and plenty of room to live.
WHERE HISTORY LIVES
Before SoHo had a name, it had character. Thanks to large-scale preservation work across the neighborhood, much of this history can still be seen and felt beyond the faรงades. Originally constructed in 1877 as a silk industry showroom, 63 Greene Street is located in the historic heart of SoHo. As one of the last true loft spaces remaining in the neighborhood, special care has been taken to preserve these elements, including dramatic interior Corinthian columns on some floors, oversized wood windows facing Greene Street, a vaulted brick ceiling on the top floor, and a restored faรงade and retail storefront.
57-63 Greene Street was designed by Edward H. Kendell and built in 1876-1877 as a showroom space for the silk manufacturing industry. The original owner was Emil Oelbermann & Co., the name that still remains on the cornice of the building. Oelbermann was a dry-goods commission merchant specializing in imported silks, cottons, and wools. The Oelbermann store remained at Greene Street until 1913 when they moved to another city location. The store and second floor were then let to Ault & Wiborg Co., a manufacturer of printing inks, dry color dyes and pigments. The faรงade is brick, stone and iron (from Cornell Iron Works).
CURATED
63 Greene offers one of the widest street frontages in the neighborhood, with a width of 100 feet. Once inside, you’ll find a renovated lobby with mosaic marble flooring and a distinctive, custom chandelier. Each residence has a spacious and unique layout, with ceiling heights up to 12-feet and huge windows flanked by cast iron, wood, or steel columns. Fumed oak, wide-plank floors and generously-sized bathrooms and kitchens have been designed to complement each one-of-a-kind living space. Your home – like a blank canvas – is open to your interpretation.

ELEVATED
The sixth floor of 63 Greene Street is home to three dramatic penthouse residences, each with its own private roof terrace. Vaulted brick ceilings with exposed beams and steel-clad columns define the space in a singular fashion. Natural light streams into the interiors via the atrium atop a custom steel staircase leading to the roof. Your private terrace awaits.
FEATURED
63 Greene Street offers an array of amenities designed for modern living. Building features include an attended lobby, package room, bicycle storage, and, most dramatically, a landscaped common rooftop with south, east, and west exposures. In addition to the high ceilings found throughout, each apartment offers zoned climate control, a Miele front-loading washer and dryer, and well-designed kitchens and baths with such luxuries as Sub-Zero refrigerators, Bertazzoni ranges, Lefroy Brooks fixtures and radiant heated bathroom floors.
SoHo has been many things throughout the years—but it has never been boring. That’s still incredibly true today. Upscale boutiques rub shoulders with fashion upstarts. Lively shopping areas give way to quiet tree-lined streets. Hudson River Park, Washington Square, Nolita and Tribeca are each a five minute stroll away. And vestiges of a rich, intriguing history keep pace with a nonstop push toward innovation. 63 Greene Street remains at the center of it all.
